My Seatmate is Apparently My Wife from My Past Life; She Still Loves Me in This Life as Well

48: The Mysterious Senior

Being abruptly thrown into the hallway like a piece of trash, I was now a free man, but I had to consider what to do next.

The “regular interview,” which was an irregular chat with Mr. Takatsuki, hadn’t taken much time.

We’d talked for maybe thirty minutes or so. It was still early in the afternoon, too early to go home.

As usual, heading to the clubroom seemed like a safe bet. That had become my recent routine, and I wanted to discuss plans for the next few days with Kamidama.

Earlier, I had rashly said, “Keep your schedule open!” in a high-handed manner, but if she had something important, it would be inconsiderate to make her cancel it.

Thinking this, I realized I felt unusually light. Then I noticed I had forgotten my bag.

I had left my school bag in the classroom.

I crossed my arms, frustrated. The classroom after school was usually a place where some groups of friends hung out.

Previously, I had been sleeping, so they had left me alone, but normally, some students would stay behind and chat.

Walking in alone to retrieve something felt awkward.

I hated the moment when everyone’s attention focused on me as soon as I opened the door.

However, complaining about it was a waste of time.

The best approach was to get it over with quickly.

Suppressing the inner voice saying, “This sucks…” I forced my heavy feet to move towards the classroom.

Suddenly, I had to stop.

Familiar male and female students blocked my path.

“Nagiura, sorry, but can we have a bit of your time?”

“Surely you’re not busy, right?”

Standing before me were Tachimuka Hinata, the star of our class’s basketball team, and Rurijo Runa, a girl often seen talking with Kamidama.

I praised myself for remembering the names of my classmates.

But it was still unnerving. Why did these two want to talk to me?

Tachimuka was one thing, but I had no connection to Rurijo.

It felt like an introvert being targeted by popular kids. It was exactly that.

Barely able to suppress the trembling, I asked,

“Um, what do you want?”

“Well, it’s nothing major, but we have something to ask.”

With a bright smile, Tachimuka said.

It didn’t seem like a “minor” conversation, but refusing would likely cause trouble, so I nodded, and Rurijo frowned.

“Hinata, stop beating around the bush. It’s troublesome. Nagiura, you know what we’re here for. Stop pretending ignorance. It’s irritating.”

“Why such harsh words? What did I do?”

Though we weren’t meeting for the first time, her prickly words hurt.

Even if she was going to be aggressive, I wished she could be as gentle as Tachimuka.

“Calm down, Runa. Sorry, Nagiura. Runa’s been agitated since Kamidama was taken.”

“Hinata, don’t say unnecessary things!”

Rurijo kicked Tachimuka lightly. It seemed more playful than violent.

What was this? First, I was approached, and now, I was witnessing some weird teasing.

What kind of harassment was this?

“Ha ha, sorry. But I’m also upset. You must understand why, right, Nagiura?”

“I have a bad feeling about this…”

It was like being threatened by an animal. I never expected it from people.

From their perspective, it must have felt like their friend was taken away by someone unknown like me.

They didn’t know me at all.

Anxiety grows when you think about it too much, especially when worrying about someone.

Though it was personal, I wanted them to leave me alone.

I’m not good with stress.

I wanted to throw everything away and sleep.

“Given your forceful attitude towards Kamidama earlier, Nagiura, are you blackmailing her?”

“Blackmail!? Me!? If anything, I’m the one being blackmailed!”

“If that’s true, we won’t forgive you.”

“You’re not listening, but you’re full of emotion…”

Couldn’t they think it through a bit more?

They couldn’t imagine me controlling Kamidama—that’s clear.

Just as I don’t know them, they don’t know me.

Our relationship must seem strange to them.

What to do…? I crossed my arms.

Whatever I said wouldn’t be taken positively.

“Hey, isn’t that Kamidama’s boyfriend…no, husband?”

A familiar voice called from behind.

Turning, I saw a half-familiar face—a male student.

Seeing his face, I knew he was “the senior.”

“And Hinata and Runa, too. Are you guys fighting?”

“Teacher Sh-shiina This is…”

Rurijo seemed flustered as she looked at the senior, teacher Shiina.

Apparently, the two knew him.

“Doesn’t seem like a fight. Hey, Hinata, don’t do anything lame—Nagiura’s Kamidama’s real deal, you know?”

“No, that’s a misunderstanding! We’re not a couple!”

“It’s fine, don’t be shy. I saw Kamidama hugging you tightly. You can’t fool me.

I’m sorry for bothering you the other day. You go to Kamidama.”

“No, but—”

“Husband and wife should be together.”

Suppressing the urge to call him annoying, I reluctantly left, nodding my head.

I didn’t know what to make of this senior.

But he was mysterious.
