My Pet Beast is Super Fearsome

Chapter 82 - 81: Probably a Fool

Chapter 82: Chapter 81: Probably a Fool

“Fuck, when will it end!”

Yes. Shao Zifeng dove forward to avoid a stabbing spider leg, the sharp appendage grazing his foot and piercing the ground below, the flying debris painfully smacking against his body.

Being chased all along, at this point, Shao Zifeng had already run out of the urban village residential area, and not far from the village was one of the most bustling districts of Su City—it has to be said, the people of the urban village really had it rough.

Back when the urban village was scheduled for demolition during city planning, the “Unknown Recovery incident” occurred. Since then, every year they talked demolition, and every year it was postponed—twenty years had passed just like that.

However, this had nothing to do with Shao Zifeng; right now, the key thing was how to survive.

It was already nearing evening, the automatic sensor streetlights on both sides of the road had lit up early, but the high-rise shops, which should have been brightly lit, were dead silent.

...

Far from decreasing, the number of spiders chasing behind him seemed to be growing.

Shao Zifeng cursed under his breath, gripping the concealed blade. He had yet to find the right moment to unsheath it—swinging it in one stroke to clear a path wouldn’t make any decisive impact on his current predicament.

“Hiss!”

The Blood-sucking Tarantula let out a hiss, its disgusting saliva splashing in all directions. As it tried to pull its limb out of the ground, Qiuqiu suddenly struck at its joint with its tail.

“Crack!”

A crisp snapping sound echoed as the Blood-sucking Tarantula lost its balance and crashed to the ground, screaming in pain. Its broken limb pierced into one of its own spider eyes, and green blood spurted out.

Glancing at the spider horde that was leaping back and forth between the tall buildings and approaching, Shao Zifeng swiftly got up, taking the opportunity to sprint towards the target building.

Continuing like this wasn’t an option, neither humans nor pets could withstand such exhaustion. Moreover, running for life at night would only be more dangerous. Therefore, he decided to find a place to hide first.

If the spider horde could disperse, that would be best. Even if it didn’t, the situation couldn’t get worse than it already was.

The business building he chose in Su City was considered quite upscale; on the first floor was a Western restaurant, with shopping malls and hotels above. Whether there were other people hiding in the building or not, he didn’t know, but given the bloodstains and scattered corpses around, the first floor had definitely been visited by the Blood-sucking Tarantulas.

The glass revolving door and floor-to-ceiling display windows of the business building were as good as nonexistent, Shao Zifeng saw many places had been smashed. He couldn’t stay long on the first floor; he quickly checked and found that the elevator was still operational.

Before the Blood-sucking Tarantulas could get in, Shao Zifeng hurried towards the elevator.

Luckily, the elevator was on the first floor and it quickly opened its doors.

“Hiss”

The Blood-sucking Tarantula moved toward the inside of the restaurant, its crimson eyes locking onto Shao Zifeng. He dashed into the elevator, pressed a random floor button, and frantically pressed the close door button.

But compared to the speed of the Blood-sucking Tarantulas, the elevator doors were closing too slowly.

“Hiss!”

The Blood-sucking Tarantula’s eyes gleamed menacingly as its sharp forelimb reached into the elevator, stabbing towards Shao Zifeng’s chest.

At that moment, Qiuqiu curled into a ball and met the attack, expending the last of its energy to execute a defense skill.

“Bang!”

The Blood-sucking Tarantula’s forelimb was repelled, and Qiuqiu was knocked back, smashing into Shao Zifeng’s chest; he felt a sharp pain as if struck by a hammer.

The elevator doors completely closed.

A sense of weightlessness engulfed them, while the pounding and hissing from outside grew fainter as the elevator forcefully ascended slowly.

Shao Zifeng slumped in the elevator, gasping for air, holding the curled-up Qiuqiu tightly.

But it wasn’t time to relax yet, not knowing what kind of scene would meet them when the elevator doors opened again.

Thinking this, Shao Zifeng hugged Qiuqiu, propped himself up with one hand on the concealed blade, and struggled to stand.

Feeling Shao Zifeng’s movements, Qiuqiu thought another enemy was approaching. It tried its best to open its eyes, its little claws flailing, and a threatening growl emanated from its throat.

The voice was a bit hoarse.

Feeling Qiuqiu’s stress response, Shao Zifeng felt a wave of frustration.

He placed the concealed blade in the corner, gently patting its body, “Qiuqiu, we’re safe now.”

“Whimper~”

Upon hearing Shao Zifeng’s voice, Qiuqiu’s body relaxed instantly, resting its small head on Shao Zifeng’s shoulder, and began cooing and acting spoiled.

This little tormenting sprite.

Shao Zifeng spoke softly, “Our Qiuqiu is the best, now go to sleep.”

“Ying~”

Qiuqiu nuzzled against Shao Zifeng’s neck happily, and finally could not hold on any longer, falling into a deep sleep.

“Ding Dong~”

The elevator came to a halt.

Shao Zifeng waved his hand, and a translucent Space Rift appeared; a small deer staggered out from it.

It looked around curiously at first, and upon seeing Shao Zifeng, its eyes brightened, and it trotted over to lie down beside him, carelessly resting its little head on his shoes before closing its eyes to sleep.

Shao Zifeng’s mouth twitched, I called you out for defense, but why did you start sleeping with my shoes?

Besides, my shoes, which I’ve worn for an entire day, covered in mud and blood, aren’t you bothered by the stench?

After spending some time together, Shao Zifeng had come to discover the little deer’s quirks.

It could eat, and it was nonchalant.

It really could eat, incessantly all through the night.

And nonchalant was truly nonchalant, never having any special requests, eating whatever was given, doing whatever was asked.

He shook his head helplessly, picked up the hidden blade, and stared intently at the elevator door that was about to open.

According to the signs, they should be on the 16th floor of a high-end business hotel.

The elevator doors opened.

It was pitch black outside, and he nudged the little deer with his foot to signal it to move aside.

“Yo!”

The little deer raised its head, staring with its big, confused eyes, wondering why it couldn’t continue sleeping.

Shao Zifeng didn’t have the time to deal with it, his attention highly focused, gripping the handle of the knife tightly.

He moved forward stealthily, leaning against the elevator door, vigilantly scanning the surroundings.

The first thing that came into view was a check-in hall, lavishly decorated, with a resting area covered with wool carpets and furnished with upscale sofas.

Then, thanks to the light from the elevator, he didn’t notice anything unusual.

Shao Zifeng sniffed the air, mmm… it was actually quite fragrant, no scent of blood, and only then did he let his guard down slightly.

The little deer followed Shao Zifeng step by step, curiously watching his movements.

It lifted its little head and sniffed around.

After sneezing twice, it shook its head slightly; it didn’t like this scent.

Once the elevator doors closed, the entire hall plunged into darkness, and Shao Zifeng fumbled for the light switch.

“Click”

The soft lighting dispersed the darkness, Shao Zifeng collapsed onto the sofa, and that soft touch elicited a comfortable groan of relief from him.

A wave of fatigue swept over him, the continuous battles having drained all his strength; relaxing now, he could barely keep his eyes open and just wanted to sleep soundly.

Forcing back the drowsiness, Shao Zifeng propped himself up with his arm, took the medical kit out of his travel bag, and carefully applied the ointment to Qiuqiu.

The little deer stood to one side, tilting its head as it looked at Shao Zifeng, as if watching a fool.

It moved forward a couple of steps, its antlers illusionary, eyes shimmering, and a fragrant scent suffused the air.

Shao Zifeng glanced at the ointment in his hand, then at the glowing light on Qiuqiu’s wound, and suddenly found himself deep in thought about life.

In the presence of a healing companion beast, why would he choose to apply ointment himself? What kind of bizarre thought process was this?
