Chapter 25 - Crying Out, He Never Even Doubted His Medical Skills!
Chapter 25: Crying Out, He Never Even Doubted His Medical Skills!
Early in the morning, Li Xuejing roused her closest friend, Wang Jieqiong, from slumber.
“Jingjing, what’s the fuss?” Wang Jieqiong grumbled sleepily. “I’ve finally had a restful night’s sleep.”
Following Lu Ming’s suggestion, she had piled two six-pound blankets on herself and listened to music before bedtime. Strangely, she fell asleep almost immediately and slept soundly, quite a contrast to her frequent nightmares in the past.
“We’re headed to the clinic again today,” Li Xuejing mentioned, keeping her true intentions hidden.
“Huh?” Wang Jieqiong was bewildered. “Why another clinic visit? Do you need the doctor to check on you as well? Why didn’t you go yesterday?”
Wang Jieqiong assumed that Li Xuejing also required medical attention.
“Oh, no, I’m perfectly healthy,” Li Xuejing stated firmly. “I’ve gathered an online group to show them the wonders of traditional Chinese medicine.”
Li Xuejing had organized an online group the previous night, with 55 people signing up. She hoped that at least ten would join today, hoping they wouldn’t be stood up.
“But…isn’t that a bit inappropriate?” Wang Jieqiong asked. “Won’t it disturb the doctor while they’re treating patients?”
Wang Jieqiong felt somewhat uneasy about the plan.
“Not at all,” Li Xuejing reassured her. “We won’t disrupt the clinic’s normal operation. Besides, we’re supporting traditional Chinese medicine, which is a positive thing.”
Li Xuejing’s argument was convincing, and Wang Jieqiong reluctantly got up to brush her teeth and freshen up. Soon after, they got ready and left for the meeting point, a small park near the clinic.
Li Xuejing pinned a rose to her clothing, a symbol for their “special operation.” They were concerned that there might be differences between the live stream and reality, and some viewers might not recognize them. Nevertheless, Li Xuejing still looked quite appealing without makeup.
“A secret code?” The young man asked Li Xuejing when she arrived at the small park, holding a steamed bun.
“Chicken stew with mushrooms!” Li Xuejing responded immediately to the code. The young man nodded, recognizing her as the right person. Another girl arrived shortly after.
Half an hour later, over 30 people had gathered around Li Xuejing. She was delighted, feeling a sense of influence and a boost to her vanity. An hour later, Li Xuejing was somewhat shocked. A total of 78 people had gathered around her despite her registering only 55. It turned out that some attendees had brought their families and even invited friends and relatives. The enthusiasm was palpable, considering it was only 7 o’clock in the morning. In other words, some people have woken up as early as 5 a.m.
Looking at the time, it was getting close. Li Xuejing led the crowd to walk to the Jimin Clinic.
When they arrived at the clinic, it was still not 7:30, and its doors were not open yet. So, some people stood in place, playing with their phones while waiting for the doors to open, while others wandered around the clinic. Finally, it was time. The clinic’s doors opened. The crowd rushed in eagerly, wanting to be the first to experience traditional Chinese medicine consultation.
However, to prevent chaos, Li Xuejing made efforts to organize everyone. When Lu Ming saw so many “patients” coming in when the doors opened, he was slightly bewildered.
What’s going on here? Has there been an outbreak of a plague or something outside?
When he saw two familiar faces in the crowd, Li Xuejing and Wang Jieqiong, Lu Ming immediately suspected that these people were somehow related to them. Sure enough, Li Xuejing approached him.
“Doctor, all these people are here because of me. They all want to experience traditional Chinese medicine.”
After learning the situation, Lu Ming couldn’t help but find it amusing.
Are they pretending to be patients here? Can you diagnose illnesses blindly?
“If there is a genuine need, they can wait in line to register. Just don’t disrupt the normal medical order. Let me be clear; if anything goes wrong, I will call the police, and you will be responsible.”
Lu Ming didn’t mind them experiencing traditional Chinese medicine, and he was even willing to have them promote it after the experience. However, if they disrupted the normal medical order, he wouldn’t hesitate to show them the door.
Upon hearing this, Li Xuejing had already thought of a solution and said, “Doctor, if it’s convenient for you, we won’t register. We’ll wait for you to finish your work, and then you can give us half an hour or an hour to experience it. What do you think?”
Lu Ming considered it and thought it would be a good opportunity to promote traditional Chinese medicine.
“Alright, you can wait for me to finish my shift,” said Lu Ming.
Li Xuejing and her group had to wait until Lu Ming finished his shift before they could enter the clinic. They had already drawn lots and discussed the order in which they would “seek treatment.”
Since they only had half an hour to an hour of time, it was impossible for nearly 80 people to each have a consultation. They would have to go one by one. At this point, Li Xuejing had already started her livestream. Since she had posted a video teaser yesterday, within less than ten minutes of starting the livestream, over three thousand people had joined, and the number was still increasing. Li Xuejing couldn’t stop smiling.
“Who’s going to go first?” Lu Ming looked at the group and asked.
“I’ll go first.”
The first online friend in line walked up to Lu Ming and sat on the chair in front of him, placing their hand on their wrist. As soon as Lu Ming began taking the pulse, the scene fell silent. Even the barrage of comments in the livestream came to a halt. At this moment, it seemed everyone was holding their breath, waiting for a result.
“Hmm?”
Lu Ming looked at the “patient” sitting across from him with a puzzled expression.
“Doctor, what’s wrong?” Asked the patient.
Seeing Lu Ming’s furrowed brow, the online friend became anxious.
“I’ve been practicing medicine for many years, but I’ve never felt such a peculiar pulse,” Lu Ming said, puzzled.
“What kind of pulse? Doctor, don’t scare me,” the patient asked.
In an instant, everyone in the room became tense. Everyone had originally come for fun, but now a serious illness might surface. That would be taking the joke too far!
“You’re a grown man. How could you have irregular menstruation?”
Lu Ming felt deeply puzzled, so he checked the pulse again, and indeed, it was as he thought.
The online friend across from him took a deep breath, looking utterly speechless.
“I’m a young lady!”
Lu Ming was a bit dumbfounded. A… young lady?
Lu Ming examined more carefully, and indeed, she was a young lady! Due to her slightly heavier build and the fact that she had very short hair, plus her voice sounded a bit rough, it was very easy to mistake her for a boy.
The people present, and the online friends in the live stream couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
【Hahaha! The doctor must be questioning life right now, thinking, how can a grown man have irregular menstruation?】
【No, he didn’t doubt for a moment, did he misdiagnose?】
【I feel this young doctor is very confident in his medical skills. Otherwise, he wouldn’t doubt the patient’s gender.】
【He’s really… I’m laughing to death! He’d rather doubt the patient’s gender than his medical skills!】
