Kuragami Uchiha left the root base without looking back.

Meanwhile, Kakashi was shaken upon hearing the name that Kuragami Uchiha had mentioned.

[Obito's grandmother…? That's right… All these years, out of guilt, I never once went to visit her…]

[I really am a failure.]

"Captain… " A member of the Anbu stepped forward to remind him when he saw Kakashi frozen in place.

"I'm fine." 

Kakashi waved his hand after snapping out of his thoughts. "Clean up this place, then report back to Hokage-sama."

After returning to the Konoha Military Police Force headquarters in the Uchiha Clan district, Kuragami Uchiha headed straight for the interrogation room.

The Wood Style user they captured yesterday had already been interrogated for an entire day. 

Now, with Foo Yamanaka brought in as well, both of them were securely restrained and had their Chakra sealed.

However, the interrogation process was not going smoothly. After all, they were not just any ordinary ninja; they were from the root. The interrogation rooms, designed for dealing with petty criminals in the village, were proving inadequate.

"Clan head." 

As Kuragami Uchiha entered the room, the Uchiha interrogators temporarily halted their work and greeted him respectfully.

"How's it going?" Kuragami asked.

"Their mouths are tight, especially the one from yesterday. We've been working on him all night, but he refuses to say anything. We were just about to call a Jonin, who has a three-tomoe Sharingan from the clan, to assist us."

The lead interrogator was just a regular Uchiha Chunin, only possessing a one-tomoe Sharingan. Normally, this was more than enough for handling village criminals, but when dealing with experienced ninjas, it was far from sufficient.

"No need for that. I'll handle it myself." Kuragami Uchiha said as he walked into the interrogation room and stopped in front of Foo Yamanaka.

Foo Yamanaka, who was bound to the chair, had clearly taken a severe beating in the short time he had been here. Seeing Kuragami approaching, his face was filled with hatred, and his eyes were burning with an intense desire for revenge.

Kuragami Uchiha smiled slightly and simply stared at this unfortunate soul, completely brainwashed by Danzo. Then, with a wave of his hand, the interrogators stepped forward and resumed their brutal assault.

Even Kuragami shook his head at the sight. 

There was clearly some personal grudge involved in this beating. Of course, it was understandable; the root had frequently clashed with the Uchiha, and now that they had a root ninja in their hands, the Konoha Military Police Force members weren't about to show any mercy.

Once the beating was done, Kuragami Uchiha slowly stood up and approached Foo Yamanaka.

"I… I won't… Say anything." 

Foo Yamanaka panted heavily while staring at Kuragami Uchiha with unyielding defiance.

The midday sunlight streamed in through the window, making it difficult for Foo Yamanaka to keep his eyes open, so Kuragami's face appeared somewhat blurry in his vision.

"I took a little tour of your base. It was quite a frightening place." Kuragami Uchiha said softly.

"You root members wanted to help Danzo become Hokage? Wanted to eliminate the Uchiha?" 

As he spoke, he reached out and wiped the blood from the corner of Foo Yamanaka's mouth.

"Go take a look outside. Nothing has changed. The village is still the same as before." 

Foo Yamanaka's vision gradually adjusted to the light, and Kuragami Uchiha's face became clearer, but his words sent a chill down his spine.

"Honestly, whether you confess or not doesn't really matter." Kuragami Uchiha continued. "I never planned to get any useful information from you in the first place."

Then, he turned to the interrogators. "Keep a close watch on him. Just make sure he doesn't die."

"Ida."

"Yes!" 

Ida Uchiha immediately stepped forward and saluted.

"Gather the second squad and come with me." Kuragami Uchiha ordered.

"Understood." Ida nodded. "Clan head, where are we going?"

"We're going to arrest the accomplices of Danzo Shimura from the Shimura Clan." Kuragami Uchiha stated.

"Directly arrest them?" 

Ida asked, surprised but also visibly excited. The Shimura Clan had never gotten along well with the Uchiha.

"Arrest? No, no, no."

 Kuragami Uchiha smiled. "Danzo not only attacked fellow Konoha ninja but also desecrated the remains of the first Hokage; these are already undeniable facts. And, as it happens, I found some evidence in the root base that links the Shimura Clan to his dealings."

As he spoke, Kuragami Uchiha retrieved a half-burned ledger from a sealing scroll.

"So, we're simply inviting them back for questioning."

Foo Yamanaka, still bound to the interrogation chair, widened his eyes in shock. He was sure that all of Root's records had been destroyed.

Kuragami Uchiha glanced at him at just the right moment, his subtle smile sending a wave of dread.

Foo Yamanaka began to struggle violently. He wanted to shout, but before he could, a Uchiha guard landed a heavy punch on him and gagged his mouth.

All he could do was watch helplessly as Kuragami Uchiha and his team walked away.

Soon, the Konoha Military Police Force's second squad had gathered.

Some of them had initially grumbled about being called in during their break, but once they heard they were going after the Shimura Clan, the Uchiha ninjas immediately became energized.

"Clan head, Konoha Military Police Force second squad assembled!" Outside the station, the squad leader, Enyu Uchiha, reported loudly.

Kuragami Uchiha nodded in satisfaction.

Suddenly, Enyu Uchiha shouted: "Salute to the clan head!"

With a crisp, unified motion, the squad members snapped to attention and saluted.

"Loyalty!" 

They shouted in unison.

Kuragami Uchiha couldn't help but chuckle. Ever since he had randomly saluted Hiruzen Sarutobi yesterday, this practice had somehow caught on within the clan.

"Loyalty!" 

Kuragami Uchiha returned the salute and then led the squad toward the Shimura Clan's district.

Such a large movement naturally did not go unnoticed.

At that moment, in the Hokage's office, Hiruzen Sarutobi was rubbing his temples in frustration. 

He had originally planned to take control of the remnants of the root, but early this morning, he received word that Kuragami Uchiha had completely wiped them out.

At the same time, Itachi Uchiha, who had reported for duty in the Anbu, truthfully relayed everything that had transpired at the Uchiha Clan meeting the previous night.

Upon learning that Kuragami Uchiha had become the clan head, Hiruzen Sarutobi let out a long sigh.

"The only good news is that Kuragami managed to suppress the idea of an outright rebellion within the Uchiha." 

He muttered. "And… Recruiting a civilian ninja into the Konoha Military Police Force, regardless of his motives, is actually a good thing."

Hiruzen Sarutobi could only console himself with that thought.
