Chapter 562: Arriving at the City of Lysoria

Ten days later…

The carriage carrying Leon and Elina had been on the road for over ten days.

Their journey had been neither particularly fast nor slow—just a steady, average pace.

The intercity roads weren't all smooth. There were climbs, dips, and rough patches that required careful navigation.

They also made several stops in various cities to rest and recover before continuing the next day.

Of greater concern, however, were the mountain bandits—criminals who lived in the mountains and often targeted travelers between cities.

Usually, the coachman would bring along two soldiers or hire strong men for protection.

But with Leon present, the bandits stood no chance.

He defeated them effortlessly, teaching them a lesson so harsh that even their closest companions no longer recognized their faces.

"Sir and Miss, our next stop is the city of Lysoria, which will also be our final destination," the coachman called from the front.

"Oh! So we're almost there?"

Elina, who had been enjoying her lunch, looked up in surprise and turned to Leon with eager eyes.

Leon gave a small nod, continuing to chew his food. "Yes, we're nearly there."

"Phew... finally," Elina sighed in relief, patting her big chest. "I'm really getting bored and tired of this long journey."

In the past, when traveling from Rothinia to Morvhal, she had broken up the trip into stages.

She would stop in the cities along the way, staying two to three days before continuing.

Sometimes, she walked or rode with merchant convoys.

At that time, she had plenty of people to talk to, making the journey enjoyable.

In the end, after more than three months of travel, she arrived at the city of Morvhal.

The ten-day journey, however, was a new experience for her.

Thankfully, they had stopped in a few towns along the way, which helped alleviate the boredom she had felt.

Leon chuckled softly at her reaction but remained silent.

To be honest, he was also bored by the journey. Despite stopping in several cities, it still felt monotonous and tiring.

Nevertheless, he tried to make the most of it. After all, opportunities to travel like this were rare for him.

Leon leaned his head out the small window behind him, gazing into the distance.

Ahead, a massive fifty-meter-high wall stretched across the horizon.

It was a sturdy wall, built to protect the city of Lysoria.

The carriage continued toward the city wall, drawing closer.

At the gate, two guards approached and asked for the coachman's identification papers and driving certificate.

"I didn't expect Lysoria to be this strict, Young Master," Elina whispered softly.

Leon smiled and explained, "You shouldn't be surprised. Lysoria is a border city in the southern part of the Holy Orthodoxy region. To keep the evil ones out, the guards must be extra vigilant. Also, the Forest of Eternal Silence is only ten kilometers away, and there's always the possibility of monsters or dangerous groups that could threaten the city's safety."

Forests, mountains, valleys, and other remote places are often used as hiding spots by criminals.

It could be the headquarters of kidnappers, human traffickers, or other criminals.

That's why border cities always have much stricter surveillance than others.

Elina nodded in agreement. While she couldn't be certain about the evil humans, she knew very well that the Forest of Eternal Silence was teeming with fierce and terrifying monsters.

In the past, she had encountered a three-meter-tall wolf monster with razor-sharp fangs.

Luckily, a group of Elves had been patrolling the area at the time, and they saved her.

Just recalling the incident sent a chill down Elina's spine.

After confirming they weren't the evil ones, the guards finally allowed the driver and carriage to enter.

"Wow! Is this Lysoria? How marvelous and unique!" Elina exclaimed as she popped her head out the window, taking in the fascinating view of the city.

As a border city, tall buildings were rare here.

The number of houses, shops, and inns was also fewer compared to Morvhal, leaving plenty of space for pedestrians.

Despite this, Lysoria was still a prosperous city.

With an area of about a thousand square kilometers and a population of one million, its economy was clearly vibrant and active.

The carriage continued along the main road, passing many people, allowing Leon and Elina to take in the full view of Lysoria from inside.

Eventually, the carriage stopped at the south side, where numerous horse-drawn carriages were already lined up.

"Sir, Miss, we have arrived," the coachman said as he slowly dismounted from his seat.

Leon and Elina quickly got off and walked over.

"Thank you for the ride," Leon said softly, smoothing out his slightly wrinkled mantle.

The coachman smiled and nodded slightly. "You're welcome, sir. I must also thank you for the gold coin you gave me."

With that coin, he had earned more than ten times the cost of the trip—a tremendous fortune for him.

Leon merely smiled in response. After exchanging a few pleasantries, he and Elina turned to leave.

As they walked away, the coachman watched them, letting out a sigh of helplessness.

"One gold coin for one trip? Even after ten days, it still feels like a dream. I was really lucky to meet such a handsome man and beautiful woman."

"Young Master, are we leaving directly for the Forest of Eternal Silence?" Elina asked, her curiosity piqued.

Leon didn't answer right away. He rubbed his chin while gazing up at the sky, which was beginning to darken with clouds.

After a moment of thought, he finally shook his head and said, "No, we'll leave tomorrow. It's going to rain soon, and night is almost here. We'll rent rooms for the night and leave in the morning."

Coincidentally, the Forest of Eternal Silence was only ten kilometers away. It was very close, and with his holy power, it would only take about fifteen minutes to run there.

So there was no need to rush.

Elina wanted to suggest that she could use magic to block the rain, but she held her words back.

With a small nod, she smiled and hooked her arm into Leon's.

"Okay…"
