Chapter 537: Healing the Dragon Ancestor - Part 3
"How is this possible!? How can holy power and chaos power possibly exist in the same body!? Who… who are you!?"
Leon looked slightly surprised—then he smirked coldly. "Me? I'm your ancestor."
The bold claim made Miranda and Athena freeze for a moment, then burst out laughing.
"Pfft! Leon, I didn't expect you to be that rude." Athena covered her mouth with her palm, glancing at him with an amused look.
"Seriously, Master," Miranda giggled, shaking her head lightly. "You really go too far."
At their mocking laughter, the figure's face twisted in rage. A burst of black light exploded from his body, as if he were ready to lunge at them.
But before he could move, an even stronger surge of black light erupted from the dragon ancestor's body.
The light shot upward until it reached the same height as the face, then transformed into a massive dragon head.
Without hesitation, the dragon head lunged forward and tore him apart.
"Argh! Damn it! Wait for my revenge! My true body will rise soon! When that time comes, you'll all be reduced to ashes!"
His cry of rage and despair echoed through the hall and then faded completely.
The dragon head chewed him up, swallowed him whole, then dissolved into glowing particles that gently drifted into the air.
Leon was briefly stunned, then sighed in relief. "Good thing he was taken out before he could do anything. Otherwise, the consequences could've been serious for all of us."
Even if that wasn't the Evil God's true body, Leon still worried about the possibility of hidden magic or techniques. Anything related to the Evil God was clearly dangerous.
But Miranda only smiled and shook her head lightly. "Actually, there's no need to worry too much, Master. That was merely a trace of consciousness the Evil God implanted through the wound in the dragon ancestor's body."
"The power it held was less than one percent of the Evil God's original strength."
Her explanation brought a sense of ease to Leon. If Miranda said so, he trusted her—and quickly regained his composure.
"Still… is it really okay to leave it like this?" Athena asked hesitantly.
As Miranda had mentioned, that face was just a fragment of consciousness planted in her ancestor's wound.
And from what Athena knew, such fragments could still connect with the original body.
She feared that everything the face had seen might reach the sealed Evil God.
After all, the existence of the Fated One—Leon—was something that must remain hidden.
If the Evil God ever found out, the consequences could be disastrous.
Sensing her concern, Miranda gave a casual smile and reassured, "You don't need to worry, Dragon Empress. The consciousness the Evil God planted can't connect directly to his main self. There's a powerful seal binding him."
"That seal keeps him completely isolated from the outside world. On top of that, many additional seals—crafted by both demon and human mages—were placed at the location where the Evil God was imprisoned. So, what you're worried about won't happen."
"That's good, then." Athena smiled, patting her chest in relief.
As they spoke, Leon let out a small sigh and slowly pulled his hand away from the dragon ancestor's back.
"Phew... it's finally over." He smiled in satisfaction as he looked at the dragon ancestor's now-fully-healed body.
Earlier, deep black gashes marred both the front and back of his abdomen, looking truly horrific.
But now, they were completely gone, replaced by smooth, healthy white skin, as if the body had been reborn.
The dragon ancestor slowly opened his eyes. He glanced down at himself and couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahaha! At last... I'm finally healed!" He shouted, rising to his feet and clenching his fists with excitement.
It had been seven thousand years since he chose to enter a deep slumber—both to await the Fated One and to slow the spread of his wound.
Though the long rest helped stall the damage, it never eased the pain.
In fact, the pain only grew worse over time—until he eventually got used to it.
Fortunately, his thousands of years of patience had finally paid off.
The wound that had caused him endless suffering was now completely healed.
And not just that—his strength was steadily returning to its peak.
He no longer needed to fear the Evil God's return. If that damned deity showed up, he'd welcome him with the best punch he had.
Seeing the dragon ancestor's overwhelming joy, Leon, Athena, and Miranda exchanged smiles.
"Congratulations, Dragon Ancestor," Leon said softly as he rose to his feet.
The dragon ancestor turned to him with a bright, enthusiastic grin.
"Hahaha! Thank you, Fated One. It's all because of you. Without your help, I doubt I would've recovered like this."
He stepped forward and pulled Leon into a warm embrace, patting his back with gratitude.
Leon let out a soft chuckle. "You don't need to thank me, Dragon Ancestor. What I did is nothing compared to what you've done for me."
And he meant it. Those weren't just polite words.
Healing the dragon ancestor hadn't been as difficult as he'd expected.
Other than the fatigue from channeling both holy and chaos power at once, there were no significant obstacles.
To him, the help he offered felt minor—insignificant, even—compared to everything the dragon ancestor had done for him.
But that was only Leon's perspective.
The dragon ancestor clearly didn't see it the same way.
He pulled back from the embrace, looked Leon in the eye, and gave his left shoulder a firm pat.
"Don't belittle yourself like that, Fated One. You have no idea how much I've endured over the thousands of years," he said, his voice low but thick with emotion. "You are my savior—and that's an undeniable truth."
Hearing the dragon ancestor's words, Leon couldn't argue and simply nodded in silence.
"Very well, dragon ancestor. I accept your gratitude," he replied with a small smile.
The dragon ancestor nodded in satisfaction. "Good!"
"By the way, what will you do after this, dragon ancestor?" Miranda asked with curiosity.
The dragon ancestor turned to her and answered, "Now that I've recovered, I must first strengthen my body. I'll also restore my power to its peak. But before that..."
He glanced back at Leon and smiled. "I'll help the Fated One find the hidden races' locations."
Leon's eyes instantly brightened. He clasped his hands together and gave a slight bow.
"Thank you very much, dragon ancestor!"
"Hahaha! It's my pleasure, Fated One," he responded with a chuckle.
With everything settled, they wasted no time and immediately left the hall.
