My Life as A Death Guard

Chapter 10.2: Untouchable?

Hades was instantly on alert. In that secret great garden, at the end of the immortal pus river, at the edge of the world stood a rickety old mansion. By the endless festering cauldron, something gargantuan seemed to be watching.

He had disturbed its dream.

Interrupted its play with its future toys.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Hades instantly withdrew himself, as if he suddenly fell into a sitting position at his work desk. Reality crushed down on him, and he banged his head on the desk.

Suddenly, the return of his senses hit Hades, dragging him from a pitch-black, silent room into a frenzied disco hall filled with screams and vomit.

His mind trembled; Hades clutched his head, his whole body convulsing uncontrollably. He fell straight from the chair, whimpering and howling on the floor.

Mortarion, who was discussing terrain with the reconnaissance team leader, suddenly lifted his head from the strategic map, frowning as he looked into the distance.

A chill crawled up his spine.

He felt the gaze of a higher being upon him.

The reconnaissance team leader looked at Mortarion, “Sir, is something wrong?”

Mortarion blinked, confirming nothing was wrong around him.

Maybe it was an illusion.

A voice echoed in his mind, Is it really an illusion?

“Nothing.” Mortarion whispered, “Continue with your report.”

When the long night of Barbarus was halfway through, Hades, clutching his head and writhing on the ground, finally quieted down.

Propping himself up on his elbows, he gasped for breath.

Now he understood.

He had just been in the Warp.

In the Warp, Hades was a void of emptiness, slowly and inexorably devouring all light.

Every bit of light he consumed made the black hole grow larger.

He… his earlier actions… had alarmed ■■.

No, when he devoured Overlord Lazar, he didn’t feel this way—it’s that stone, that stone! The stone was ■■’s return gift for Overlord Lazar’s sacrifices!!!

Damn!!!

Feeling a bit better, Hades wiped the sweat off his face and forced himself back onto the bed.

He looked at his hand. After devouring the stone’s Psyker energy, his previously small void had suddenly expanded, and now he could feel his void.

Before, this power was too weak for Hades to perceive, but after consuming the stone’s Psychic energy, it had grown rapidly! He could feel a part of his body frantically urging him to accept it.

He would… become whole.

But, was this all a conspiracy of the Chaos Gods?
