Chapter 44: 44: A King's/Father's threat
The halls of U.A. were buzzing with the usual energy of the morning as students shuffled to their classes, but Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might, walked with purpose through the pristine corridors.
The events of the morning weighed heavily on him, and his usually cheerful demeanour was replaced with a grim expression. He had to report to Principal Nezu about what had transpired.
He reached the principal's office, a spacious room with an elaborate desk, walls adorned with bookshelves, and large monitors displaying live feeds of the school grounds.
Behind the desk sat Nezu, the brilliant yet quirky anthropomorphic rodent and principal of U.A., sipping his tea calmly.
"All Might," Nezu greeted, his voice polite but laced with curiosity. "I assume you're here to tell me about the commotion this morning?"
Toshinori nodded and sat down, his large frame nearly dwarfing the chair. "Yes, Nezu. There was an attack near the school. Aiden Wilhelm Fritz and his classmates Celeste and Toru were targeted by a group of mercenaries. It wasn't a random act—they were after Aiden specifically."
Nezu placed his teacup down gently, his small black eyes narrowing in thought. "Targeted? That's concerning. Were the students hurt?"
Toshinori shook his head. "No, thankfully. Aiden dealt with the situation before I arrived, and Celeste assisted in protecting Toru.
But the scale of the attack… it wasn't amateur work. These mercenaries were equipped with advanced weaponry."
Nezu leaned back in his chair, his expression uncharacteristically serious. "This isn't the first time trouble has followed Aiden. It was inevitable, given who he is. His lineage is bound to attract those who want to test their strength—or worse, exploit him."
Before Toshinori could respond, a sudden alert beeped from Nezu's monitor. The screen flickered to life, and the face of a regal man appeared—a man whose mere presence radiated authority.
King Maximilian Otto Fritz, Aiden's father, stared back at them, his sharp golden eyes narrowing in displeasure. His crown gleamed under the light, and his royal attire exuded power and command.
Nezu immediately straightened in his chair, his composed demeanour shifting to one of attentive respect. Toshinori felt a chill run down his spine as the King's piercing gaze fell upon him.
"Principal Nezu. Toshinori Yagi," the King began, his deep voice reverberating with an edge that left no room for argument. "I have been informed by my agents about an attack on my son, Aiden, near your school this morning."
Nezu nodded, his tone measured. "Yes, Your Majesty. I was just being briefed on the matter. Aiden is safe, and we are taking every precaution to ensure his security."
The King's expression did not soften. If anything, his frown deepened. "Safe? This incident should never have occurred in the first place. My son's presence at your institution is meant to provide him with an education and a semblance of normalcy—not to put his life at risk."
Toshinori interjected cautiously, "Your Majesty, I assure you, the matter is being handled. Aiden is incredibly capable, and the mercenaries were neutralised quickly."
"Neutralised quickly," the King repeated, his tone dripping with disdain. "Do you think that reassures me, Yagi? These men dared to attack my son—a prince—on your watch. If Aiden hadn't been capable, as you say, what would have happened? Would you be explaining his injuries—or worse—to me right now?"
The weight of the King's words hung heavily in the room.
Nezu, ever the tactician, responded calmly. "Your Majesty, while I understand your frustration, please know that we are not taking this matter lightly. We will be investigating how this breach occurred and strengthening our security measures."
King Maximilian leaned forward, his expression unyielding. "See that you do, Principal. I expect nothing less than absolute diligence in ensuring Aiden's safety. If another incident occurs, I won't hesitate to take matters into my own hands. And trust me, you do not want that."
The screen abruptly cut off, leaving the room in heavy silence. Toshinori let out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding.
"Well," Nezu said, breaking the tension with a sip of tea. "That was... invigorating."
Toshinori rubbed the back of his neck. "We need to address this quickly. The last thing we want is for the King to get involved personally. His resources—and wrath—are not something we can contend with."
Nezu nodded. "Agreed. Let's focus on identifying who hired those mercenaries. I'll also alert the faculty to keep a closer eye on Aiden and his classmates."

[Location: UA High School – Class 1-A]
The bustling hallways of UA High were filled with students chatting, laughing, and moving between classes. For most, it was just another ordinary day. But for Aiden, Celeste, and Toru, the earlier attack still lingered fresh in their minds.
Toru walked close to Celeste, her usual upbeat demeanour subdued. She clutched her bag tightly, her wide green eyes darting nervously at every sudden movement or loud noise. Celeste, ever the steady presence, kept a reassuring hand on her shoulder as they entered their classroom.
Aiden, as usual, seemed utterly unbothered, his confident stride and cheeky grin a stark contrast to the tension that clung to his companions. Nimbus perched on his shoulder, occasionally squeaking and nuzzling his cheek as if to lighten the mood further.
"Morning, everyone!" Aiden announced, his voice breaking through the hum of conversation. A few of his classmates turned to greet him, though their attention quickly shifted to the nervous-looking Toru.
"Whoa, what happened to her?" Kaminari asked, leaning back in his chair with a curious expression. "She looks like she's seen a ghost."
Toru gave a weak smile, but it was Celeste who answered. "We ran into some… complications on the way here. Let's just say it wasn't your average walk to school."
"Complications?" Mina leaned forward, her pink eyes sparkling with curiosity. "What kind of complications?"
"Mercenaries," Aiden said casually, dropping into his seat like he hadn't just uttered something that would normally cause a panic.
"Wait, mercenaries?" Kirishima's voice rose in surprise. "Like, real ones? With guns and everything?"
Aiden smirked, leaning back with his hands behind his head. "Yup. A whole squad of them. They thought they could take me on. Spoiler alert: they couldn't."
The room buzzed with a mix of disbelief and admiration. Bakugo, sitting with his arms crossed and a scowl on his face, scoffed loudly. "Tch. You're full of it. No way a bunch of mercs just showed up out of nowhere."
"It's true," Celeste interjected, adjusting her glasses. "They were highly trained and well-armed. Aiden handled most of them himself."
"Of course he did," Bakugo muttered under his breath, rolling his eyes.
Toru finally spoke up, her voice quiet but firm. "It was terrifying. They came out of nowhere and surrounded us. If it wasn't for Aiden and Celeste, I don't know what would've happened."
The room fell silent for a moment, the weight of her words sinking in.
"Well," Iida said, standing up with his usual commanding presence. "It's fortunate that everyone is safe. However, this raises serious questions about security. If mercenaries can attack our classmates so openly, what's stopping them from coming here?"
"We've got pros all over the place," Kaminari said with a shrug. "No way they're getting in here."
"Still," Yaoyorozu added thoughtfully, "it's troubling that Aiden would be targeted so directly. There must be a reason."
Aiden waved off their concerns with a laugh. "Guys, relax. I'm fine, Toru's fine, and Celeste is… well, Celeste." He grinned at her, earning a small, amused smile in return. "No need to stress about it."
As the class slowly settled back into their usual chatter, Aiden leaned over to Celeste, his voice dropping to a low whisper. "Think they'll get the job done?"
Celeste didn't need to ask what he meant. "Seraphine and Kaela? Of course. They're probably finishing up as we speak."
Aiden nodded, his grin taking on a slightly darker edge. "Good. Let's make sure no one else gets any funny ideas."
As the door slid open and Aizawa entered the room, the trio shifted their focus back to class, though the tension from the morning's events still lingered in the air. Aiden, however, seemed completely at ease, a mischievous glint in his eye.
