Chapter 61: Quests: Making A Team (14)
Quests: Making A Team (part 14)
War between teams;
After applying a lot of tactics and schemes, they were finally able to survive this day. Despite his confidence, Qiao could not have been a hundred percent sure about success.
He was still human.
It was already incredible that after being thrown into this world, he was able to survive for so long and even advance.
"Brother, it is good that we did not lose our hunt," Linwin attacked and spoke at the same time. The monster was almost dead after being injured and then rode like a horse by Qiao.
Linwin had thought that the whole day would be spent in fending off the bullies. They might have lost the chance for daily quest when the teams surrounded them. He even thought about how he would feel after leaving the Guild.
Their stay had only expanded to three days and two more days were left for the final registration, a damn rule of the Guild. He did not want to be forced to leave again.
"Don't waste time in talk, they might be reaching us soon," Qiao reminded him again. They only ran away to complete the hunt first and then see if the other side was still stubborn to bother them.
"Ah, I forgot they are after us," Linwin looked at Quipu and they both stabbed their weapons at the same time. They were learning to collaborate perfectly in times.
"Qiao did you ask the Guild to provide us another team member. We are working a little too hard these days, it would surely lessen the burden," Quipu pulled out the blooded weapon and the monster fell on ground. They then heard the footsteps coming their way.
"Hurry up, let's leave," Qiao stepped ahead to collect the spoils. It seems none of them had gave up to let them go today.
They all were following the traces and finally managed to reach the place where they found monster's body left behind. There were no more signs to follow either.
They then joined in a circle and ran around to search for them in group. They had learnt their lesson to not go after them individually and knew this small team of newbies was shameless enough to corner the stronger among them.
….…
The Guild was unaware about what was happening in the open forest and the evening was near. Qiao was hiding and looking towards a direction where he could see few people standing and observing the traces. They were trying to find a direction to start searching for the newbies.
After sending the two away he had removed their mark of footsteps and then used the trees for leaving the place. But they did not leave actually, instead Qiao had planned to separate them first and then hunt one by one. These seniors would not be expecting him to lay an ambush for them after managing to escape earlier.
It was the most feasible method to not get damage in return and get rid of this trouble at the same time.
He waved his weapon in the above air and Linwin who was at the farthest point voiced in a high tone,
"Brother, my injury is grave and I can't walk any further. Please leave me behind," it was the fall of evening and silent so his voice, which was echoing with pain quickly reached the chasers here.
They heard it clearly and made a conclusion that one of them was injured and they were not able to run too far.
After confirming the direction, the team leader ordered, "Five of you advance from the direct path while we will come from the opposite," it was to surround and kill them for sure this time.
They hurried to the place before the target could escape again.
Qiao looked up and the last rays of the day were dying down in the thick forest. They were quite far away from the Guild entrance so would they have to remain struck in the forest today?
He had heard some chasers talking about how a team got late and left in forest. They were unable to survive and early morning the Guild tried searching for their dead bodies, but all they could find was bits and pieces and teared clothing. There was no intact body.
It was enough to threaten the newbies and small teams.
Even if they started their journey right at this moment and ran as fast as they could, it would still take another hour to leave the forest and they still had yet to deal with these guys.
He sighed deeply. Would it probably be his last night in the forest or in this world?
...
As the sun started to fall-
"Leader, the evening is here. It would be unsafe to remain here so we should head back and kill the newbies tomorrow. The first priority should be to leave safely ourselves. May be those newbies might end up in front of some other monster in the pitch black forest and never return," one of the team member spoke out his concern.
The team leader looked up and sure enough, it was getting dark.
"Alright, tell all of our men to leave the forest immediately. But we will wait for the newbies at the paved path for some time before walking toward the Guild entrance," he didn't want to leave the injured snake still as it might bite them more dangerously later.
"Sure I will tell the others now," He went to tell others and soon they were on the path to leave in hurry. Qiao who was waiting for them to make the move first, saw them leaving the forest.
Now he was faced with another problem, as he cannot leave the forest because they would be waiting for them. While thick forest can be used as shield to fight, they cannot fight all of them in the open.
Another problem was that since it was already evening, they could not take the longer path.
He came down and called over Linwin and Quipu.
"We cannot leave nor stay here, what should we do?" he told them the problem and asked for their opinion.
...…
The team waited at the paved path for some time and when they were sure that the newbies remained in the forest, they returned back. Still they asked around to confirm that the newbie team did not return to the Guild.
"Now there is no need to worry, the forest can take the life of those with much less experience," the team leader laughed and relaxed to think that there would be no more newbie team from whom they should be worried.
"But why did their team leader choose to stay rather than leaving?" one of them asked,
It was an irrational decision in his eyes.
"He is sharp and might have known the consequences, so he was left with no choice than to stay in the forest. Since both sides were death for him after all. Alas smartness cannot always help," he sighed as if he was feeling pity for the newbies team.
But deep in his heart, he still had a strong grudge. It was horrible to see how he had planned to waste a whole level experience of the other team leader. The youth was too sharp to deal with and if he remained alive in coming years, he would appear as the strongest so he should be dead and there would be no other threat for them.
