Chapter 29: Headstrong Level One Chaser
Headstrong Level One Chaser
"I did not mean to bump into you." Qiao repeated with a glare. He felt this guy was purposely making it into an issue.
This chaser was only at level one and had the air of a hunter King. If he really became that strong one day, he might kill anyone who dared to even look at him.
"You did not mean to? And what is with this attitude?" the chaser shook his head as if was ready to punch the newbie.
All the people who were giving attention also noticed this attitude and they were sure that it would not end with peace between both.
"If you did not mean it then apologize here for your carelessness?" the chaser pointed toward the ground. He wanted Qiao to fall on knees and beg for mercy.
The quarrel was getting tense now.
The team leader who was sitting on the bench now was not sure whether the newbie could handle it. But at this point if he meddled here, the other guys team leader might also get into fight and it would become a bigger grudge.
"Your demand is without any basis. When I have not offended you in any intentional way, there is no point to apologize to you either." Qiao replied to him with his arms crossed. He would make this guy know that he wasn't someone that could be bullied easily.
The people anticipated an attack from the level one chaser and they could even imagine this newbie rolling on the ground in pain.
"If you think you are stronger then we can decide upon it. If I lose to you in an arm-wrestling contest between us, I will definitely apology but if you lose then…" before Qiao could finish his words, the chaser interrupted,
"I will lick the dust under your feet," he said.
Everyone around was astonished, but then they nodded. There was no use for setting a punishment like that as they were sure he would never lose to a Zero.
The chaser was also confident against a newbie which is why he said something so reckless. He carefully took a look at the token which was hanging on his neck and according to the color of the token, Qiao was definitely not level one.
Then the chaser had nothing to fear, whatever nonsense he spouted he had no worries as he would never lose.
Qiao was stunned to hear the punishment, he never thought to speak out such punishment but what can be done now. It was that guys own mouth that spoke up.
The people in the Guild hall immediately emptied a bench in the middle and surrounded it. People like them never had anything better to do than to see the world around them in chaos. What was better than this?
Qiao walked with slow steps forward to the bench. He considered this a way to test his strength now.
The people were amazed at the courage or perhaps foolishness of the newbie that they were excited and immediately formed opinions of whom they would support.
Most of the chaser present in the Guild hall were between level one to four but they had never witnessed such pointless bout. It should not even be considered one, as it was clear what the result would be. How could a lower level hunter defeat a higher level one.
Qiao was thinking something different though.
"Young man, you should reconsider your attitude before licking the dust of his feet," someone among the crowd shouted, from his tone, he seemed to be giving him advice.
"Shut up and see what is going to happen," someone stopped him.
The reception man also shuffled aside the papers and started to look at both of them, he was interested about the outcome although it can be predicted.
To wear an extra-large animal skin clothing did not reflect the strength of the man. They noticed that Qiao's clothing was much better than most of them around. Even level two chasers were wearing common and cheap animal clothing with endless patches.
So, they felt they would get a chance to mock him when he would lick the dust of the feet. To most of them, this newbie was willful and foolish.
If he was not foolish, he would not show such an attitude in front of a higher-level chaser.
Qiao sat on the bench and the chaser also sat in front of him, they were facing each other, the chaser was glaring while Qiao was silent and a little calm.
He was not sure whether he would be able to win but he would be able to gauge the difference in strength clearly at least right?
So this risk was for the observation.
They both extended their hands and locked them in a hard grip. Both of their eyes met and the chaser was surprised to see the guy smiling meaningfully. What did that mean?
Qiao smiled as soon as he gripped the chaser's hand. He was able to get an impression of his strength from the grip and it was as he had expected. There was no difference and they were equal. To win, it did not seem it would be as difficult as he thought.
What mattered was the difference, but here there was no difference. He could tell level one mostly have equal strength, but depending on the situation and how a person applied it, the strength could be increased drastically.
Huh, definitely his stubbornness can play a part to make his strength more than his peer, Qiao thought.
As soon as he thought such, there was a sharp glint in his eyes. It was not an evil glint but a strong desire to win. He gritted his teeth and put all his strength in winning.
After all, he cannot embarrass himself by losing despite being a level one, could he?
People were expecting him to lose, right? Well not this time.
He flipped the arm of the chaser and it smashed against the bench.
The people who were initially very excited felt that their faces were stinging. They sat back on their seats with utmost disappointment and disbelief, as this was not supposed to be possible.
It was not entirely possible, right? How can a newbie win against a level one, what happened to the laws of this world, who was this newbie? They wanted to shout out about how wrong this was, but they remained silent.
In their eyes, this newbie was too strong…
They might be calling him headstrong in their minds…
