Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Sparring
This was the first time Su Hao truly understood the sheer power of an elite warrior. Just brushing up against them could be fatal.
Now, Su Hao also realized why every warrior he encountered was always fully armored. It turns out that elite warriors were essentially glass cannons—high attack, low defense.
Su Hao sheathed his knife and noticed that it was completely free of dust or debris. He pondered, "When my knife is infused with elite blood Qi, it possesses immense destructive power. This power no longer comes from the blade itself but from the elite blood Qi. Elite blood Qi is a form of energy, and once it's no longer under conscious control, it becomes wild and explosive. The sharpness of the blade only helps to channel that energy. So, what if I use my bare hands instead?"
He sheathed his knife and let elite blood Qi flow into his fist before slamming it into the ground.
"Bang~!"
A basin-sized crater appeared on the ground, though he hadn't even exerted much physical strength.
His fist tingled from the impact, and when he raised his hand to inspect it, he saw it was red. "The moment my fist struck the ground, elite blood Qi surged out, creating a powerful shockwave that shattered the ground. The recoil was neutralized by the remaining elite blood Qi in my fist, so I wasn't injured, but the impact still stung."
After all, flesh and blood were inherently more fragile than steel.
After experimenting for a while longer, Su Hao decided to leave and test other aspects of his newfound abilities. However, as soon as he stood up, he realized his muscles were sore and weak, and he felt utterly drained.
With a bit of concentration, he noticed his muscles were completely empty of blood Qi. Only then did it dawn on him that he had used up all his regular blood Qi in the process of converting it into elite blood Qi.
Su Hao couldn't help but mutter, "Are these two types of blood Qi incompatible?"
After careful study, Su Hao discovered the relationship between regular blood Qi and elite blood Qi.
Once someone successfully becomes an elite warrior, their combat style changes significantly. Most of their offensive techniques rely on elite blood Qi, and regular blood Qi becomes almost irrelevant.
Regular blood Qi only serves two purposes: maintaining normal bodily functions at it's optimum and converting into elite blood Qi.
Su Hao now understood his next course of action: rapidly replenish regular blood Qi, then convert it into elite blood Qi. He would repeat this cycle until he reached the physical limit of his body.
....
A month later, Su Hao had fully replenished his state. The elite blood Qi in his body had reached an overwhelming amount. Nine special areas in his body were now packed with elite blood Qi.
Su Hao went to see Wu Yuntian and informed him that he had successfully converted all his regular blood Qi into elite blood Qi.
Wu Yuntian, after years of training, had developed a strong heart and didn't show much surprise. After all, this was his son—being a little monstrous was normal. If others took two or three years to accomplish something, what if his son took only one? Totally 'normal'.
Wu Yuntian nodded calmly, "Well, now you need to spend some time adapting and mastering the properties of elite blood Qi."
He continued, "Don't rush. The conversion efficiency of regular blood Qi into elite blood Qi is slow, like water wearing away at stone. It takes a lot of time. Once you've filled all nine Palaces with elite blood Qi, you'll have reached the peak, and you can consider yourself a high-level elite warrior."
Su Hao was stunned. "But Father, I've already filled all nine Palaces!"
Wu Yuntian, as if not hearing clearly, asked again, "What?"
Su Hao repeated loudly, "I've already filled all nine Palaces. I can't convert any more elite blood Qi. Does this mean I'm already a high-level elite warrior?"
Wu Yuntian was thoroughly dumbfounded.
"You're saying you've filled all your blood Qi Palaces? You're not joking?"
"When have I ever joked with you, Father? Did I do something wrong?" Su Hao felt a little uneasy after seeing his father's expression.
Wu Yuntian took a deep breath, trying to calm the indescribable emotions inside him, constantly telling himself, 'It's normal. This is to be expected. No big deal. It's normal...'
Then he said to Su Hao, "No, you didn't do anything wrong."
After Wu Yuntian explained further, Su Hao finally understood just how abnormal his [Blood QI strengthening Technique] and [Centrifugal conversion Technique] really were.
For most people, converting regular blood Qi into elite blood Qi is inefficient and requires constant effort over time, like slow grinding. Even after accumulating a lot of regular blood Qi, the conversion yields only a small amount of elite blood Qi. Then, they have to spend more time accumulating regular blood Qi again.
That's why for most people, the process of accumulating a significant amount of elite blood Qi takes an incredibly long time.
However, for Su Hao, a unique existence, running out of regular blood Qi was never a problem. If he ran low on regular blood Qi, he just ate a big meal, activated the function of his [Blood Qi strengthening Technique], and soon, his regular blood Qi would be replenished.
Then, by gathering large amounts of regular blood Qi and spinning it at high speed, the powerful centrifugal force quickly converted it into elite blood Qi. A single cycle didn't even take a full day.
After hearing Wu Yuntian's explanation, Su Hao realized his conversion speed was indeed a bit too fast.
"But knowledge is power, right? I just happen to excel in math and science," he thought to himself.
….
"Father, what level would you say my current strength is at?" Su Hao asked curiously, after understanding the state of his own cultivation.
Wu Yuntian thought for a moment, then stood up and headed outside. "Come with me. Spar with me, and you'll find out."
Su Hao was taken aback. Spar with Wu Yuntian?
It didn't take long for Su Hao to realize what was happening, and he quickly followed, feeling a surge of excitement despite his lack of confidence.
"Looks like… I've never really fought another Person before!"
Su Hao followed Wu Yuntian out of the village to an open field, where the two stood facing each other.
Both had set aside their armor and weapons and were standing casually. Anyone watching might have thought they were about to have a friendly chat.
The sun hung low on the horizon, casting long shadows of the two figures across the ground.
Both began to hold their breath, concentrating.
Suddenly, Su Hao moved. Blood Qi flowed into his legs as his body shot forward toward Wu Yuntian with unstoppable momentum.
This was the «Charge» combat technique Wu Yuntian had taught him. However, Su Hao didn't go all out with this skill; he held back most of his power, ready to adapt to any situation.
Standing just under 1.5 meters tall compared to Wu Yuntian's towering 2-meter frame, Su Hao knew the «Charge» technique wasn't advantageous for him. He used it merely as an opener to gain momentum. What he was really good at was quickly identifying openings and delivering a decisive blow once the opponent made a move.
Wu Yuntian, being extremely familiar with Su Hao, seemed to guess his intent but didn't mind. He stepped back with his right foot and launched a powerful kick.
Su Hao didn't slow down. Just as he was about to collide with Wu Yuntian's incoming kick, he suddenly leaned back and slid on the ground, narrowly avoiding the kick. Using his hands to push off from behind his head, his body sprang up like a coil, and his feet shot upward, aiming a kick at Wu Yuntian's chin.
The attack was fast and fierce, even surprising Su Hao himself.
However, Wu Yuntian, with his wealth of combat experience, was beyond relying only on conscious moves during battle. His body reacted purely on instinct.
He leaned his head back, causing Su Hao's kick to miss, and immediately countered by thrusting his elbow forward.
"Bang∼!"
Su Hao, still in mid-air, was struck by Wu Yuntian's elbow and sent flying.
While in the air, Su Hao quickly adjusted his balance and landed smoothly, rubbing his backside. Wu Yuntian's blow had struck right on his butt, which cushioned most of the impact, though it still hurt.
Su Hao realized that as long as he coated the area under attack with elite blood Qi, he could neutralize Wu Yuntian's elite blood Qi-infused strikes, effectively acting as a powerful defense.
But the physical shock from the blow still had to be endured by his body.
Having understood the key points, Su Hao felt more at ease. Facing Wu Yuntian, he realized there was nothing to fear.
He could recklessly expend elite blood Qi without worry about Wu Yuntian's attacks carrying elite blood Qi, and his body, having undergone long-term [Muscle Strengthening Technique],was highly durable.
In other words, when fighting against an experienced warrior like Wu Yuntian, if he couldn't win with strategy, he could always rely on brute force.
And in a battle of brute force… he wasn't afraid at all!
