Chapter 783: Chapter 785: The Mastermind (1)
The reporters refused to back down, so she also stood her ground, resulting in a standoff at the entrance. Her eyes were indifferent, and she coldly surveyed the reporters’ microphones and cameras. One woman reporter was at the forefront, acting provocatively. No matter how good her temper was, such harassment would eventually provoke her. She would definitely not compromise when her life was being severely disrupted, especially when it was happening at her home’s doorstep.
It wasn’t a case of paparazzi as every microphone bore the name of its respective media company. She gave a casual sweep of her eyes, and finally focused on the reporter at the forefront, “When did channels like Yan City Television, News Wave, Safe Video start stooping so low? The reason media is so detested these days is because of reporters like you, intruding into the lives of ordinary people, going to any lengths to scramble for news. Can you show a bit of decency, please? Any sense of professional pride or self-respect?”
“Reporting the truth is our responsibility!” Lu Weixi’s indiscriminate criticism made the media present seethe with anger. She stood there, chin lifted, back straight, carrying herself like a superior figure.
“The truth? Don’t make me laugh!” scoffed Lu Weixi. “My affairs are personal. I’m not a public figure, and I have no wish to seek fame. Do I need to provide you with the ‘truth’? If I’ve done something wrong, the law will punish me. If I’ve underperformed at my job, my clients will criticize me. If I’ve violated any work protocol, regulatory bodies will take action. So who exactly are you people to force a confession out of me? Just because you’re the media? I have no obligation to entertain nosy viewers with juicy gossip. Move aside!”
She then took a step forward. She was dressed in a sharp business suit with a pencil skirt and a pair of black high heels. Even though there was no one else around, her posture alone radiated a commanding presence. To her surprise, the reporters were pushed back a step.
One step back led to another, and she no longer bothered to engage them with words. The reporters hadn’t expected Lu Weixi to assume such a commanding stance. Despite her being quite amiable before, she was now in full force. Even without admitting anything, her demeanor alone suggested she was much more than a simple designer.
Without the slightest sign of stage fright, her cold and arrogant manner was exactly the same as the rumored domineering Miss Bai!
As she spoke, she walked towards her car, took out her car keys, and, in front of everyone, got into her car and shut the door.
As she started the car, a reporter came back to his senses and stood in front of her car, blocking her from driving away. Lu Weixi remained calm. She didn’t impulsively ram into the reporter, nor did she call Qin Zhiyou, as distant water could not quench a nearby thirst. Instead, she called her boss.
The boss had been worried since she went out alone, so the moment she called, he quickly directed seven or eight security guards to remove the reporter. Once the reporter left, she immediately drove away from the scene, her actions crisp and speedy with no hint of hesitation.
But the incident at the company was the least of her problems. When she returned home, she ran into Qin Zhigu, making both of them feel a little awkward.
