Chapter 33: The Truth and Surveillance
Izuku sat with his old friends, Bakugo, Shoto, and Kota, his expression heavy with concern.
Izuku: "Monster 0... What in the world is All for One planning?"
Bakugo: "We can't be sure, but it's clear our children are in danger."
Kota: "He wants their hearts to awaken Monster 0."
Shoto: "And we need to stop him at any cost."
Izuku's face grew even more somber, the weight of the situation pressing on him.
Shoto noticed and asked, "Midoriya, what's wrong?"
Izuku sighed deeply. "It's Toshinori. Even though he doesn't remember the past, he's still my son. The thought of losing him again is unbearable."
The room fell silent, each of them grappling with the gravity of the situation. After a moment, Kota spoke up.
Kota: "I know it's really hard, but we have to stay strong, Deku."
Izuku looked at him, searching for some reassurance.
Kota continued, "After hearing your story, remember how he cried? He didn't know why."
Bakugo added, "It wasn't 01 who shed those tears—it was Toshinori."
Shoto nodded in agreement. "It means he's still there, Midoriya. We have a chance to bring him back."
Ellen and her friends, along with Izana, entered the room where Izuku, Bakugo, Shoto, and Kota were gathered. The atmosphere was tense as Izana stepped forward, his expression troubled.
Izana: "There's something you all need to know... about Izumi, Katsu, and Shoka."
The parents listened intently as Izana revealed the painful truth, explaining how Izumi, Katsu, and Shoka used to bully them and how they now live in constant fear that if the others regain their memories, their reputations and careers as heroes will be ruined.
The room filled with anger and disbelief. Izuku clenched his fists, struggling to process the betrayal. Bakugo's eyes narrowed, his temper simmering just below the surface. Shoto's expression was cold, his anger controlled but palpable.
Kota, however, couldn't hold back his fury. "They suffered so much because of this, and none of us knew! My own nephews...!" His voice trembled with anger.
Izana, feeling the weight of their emotions, looked down in shame. He then turned to his father, Izuku, his voice filled with regret. "Dad, I'm sorry... I should've done something sooner. I should've helped them before it got this far."
Izuku looked at his son, his anger tempered by the pain in Izana's eyes. He placed a hand on Izana's shoulder, trying to offer some comfort despite his own turmoil. "You did what you could, Izana. We all failed to see what was happening. But now that we know, we have to make it right."
The room was filled with a heavy silence, the parents grappling with the revelations and the deep betrayal they felt, not just from the heroes they trusted, but from their own children.
Izana hesitated for a moment before speaking up, his voice filled with determination. "There's someone I want you all to meet," he said, glancing at his friends and then back at his father and the others.
Suddenly, a dark, shadowy figure began to emerge from Izana's body, materializing into a humanoid form with an otherworldly aura. The entity introduced itself in a deep, resonant voice. "My name is Raven," the symbiote said, its presence both unsettling and mysterious. "I was born from the embers of One For All."
The group stared in astonishment as Raven continued, "I was meant to be with both Toshinori and Izana, but things didn't go as planned. Toshinori... he rejected me. Inside the womb, Izana was so weak and fragile, and Toshinori wanted to protect his brother more than anything. That's why he wanted me to stay with Izana. Otherwise, I could have shared my powers with both of them."
Izuku, trying to make sense of what he was hearing, asked, "What about Izumi? Where did she fit into all this?"
Raven turned its attention to Izuku, its gaze piercing. "Izumi was already strong—so strong, in fact, that I feared giving her more power would corrupt her. She had the strength to stand on her own, but too much power can lead to darkness. That's why I didn't bond with her as I did with Izana."
The room was silent, the weight of Raven's words sinking in. Izuku's mind raced, processing the implications of what he had just learned. Toshinori had made a choice, one driven by love and a desire to protect his brother, even before they were born. And Izumi, in her strength, had been spared the burden that could have changed her forever.
Izana looked at his father, hoping for understanding. "Raven has been with me, helping me, protecting me... But I wanted you all to know the truth about him, about us. We've been through so much, and now we need to face what's coming together."
Izuku, still trying to wrap his head around the existence of Raven, asked cautiously, "Raven, how exactly were you created from the embers of One For All? And why did you think it was right not to choose Izumi? What happened that made her go down the path she did?"
Raven's form seemed to shift slightly as it considered the question, its voice carrying a weight of ancient knowledge. "The embers of One For All are more than just residual energy. They are fragments of the will, the essence, of all who carried the quirk before it passed on. I am a manifestation of that will, but with a unique purpose. My existence began when Toshinori and Izana were still in the womb. Their strong, yet contrasting, desires shaped me. Toshinori's will to protect, and Izana's need for protection, brought me into being. I was meant to ensure their survival, to be their shield in the battles that would come."
Raven paused, its gaze darkening as it turned to Izuku. "As for Izumi… From the moment I sensed her, I knew she was powerful—perhaps too powerful. Her strength, combined with her personality traits, made her vulnerable to darker influences. Power, unchecked, can corrupt even the purest of hearts. If I had bonded with her, that power might have consumed her entirely, turning her into something far worse than what she became."
Izuku's heart sank as Raven continued, "When Izumi grew older, she began to bully Toshinori, Ken, and Shoya. She saw their weaknesses as flaws, something to exploit rather than understand. Her actions weren't just born out of malice; they were the result of a superiority complex. She believed her strength made her better than them, more deserving of the title of hero. Without guidance, her power twisted her perception of right and wrong, and she ruined their lives, pushing them to the brink of despair."
The room was heavy with the weight of Raven's words. Izuku's fists clenched as he absorbed the reality of what his daughter had done. He felt a mixture of anger, guilt, and sorrow. He had always wanted to protect his children, to guide them on the right path, but somehow, despite all his efforts, Izumi had strayed into darkness.
"I didn't choose her because I knew she would be tempted by the power I could offer," Raven concluded. "Izumi needed to learn to control herself, to find strength in compassion and humility, not in domination. But without that lesson, she became what you feared, Izuku. And in doing so, she caused immeasurable pain to those who should have been her allies, her brothers."
Izuku's head hung low, tears threatening to spill as he thought about what had happened to his family. "I… I failed her," he whispered, the words cutting deep.
"No," Raven said, its tone softer now. "You didn't fail her. Choices are made by those who wield the power, not those who provide it. But now, you must focus on the choices ahead. Toshinori, Izana, Ken, Shoya—they need you now more than ever."
Izuku nodded, though the weight of Raven's words still pressed heavily on his heart. He knew there was no time to wallow in regret; there were battles ahead, both external and internal, and he had to be strong for his family.
Ellen took a deep breath and shared her story, her voice trembling with emotion. "I was always called a monster because of my royal powers. I was isolated, with no one to truly understand me. When I was a child, I met Toshinori, and he was my first real friend. His kindness meant the world to me."
She paused, her eyes reflecting the pain of the past. "I fell for him because he was the only one who saw me for who I truly was, not just the power I wielded. I planned to confess my feelings to him, hoping that he might feel the same. But when the day came, he said harsh, hurtful things to me. It broke my heart."
Ellen's voice cracked as she continued, "It was only later that I learned the truth. My father, Diego, forced Toshinori to say those things. He didn't want a quirkless person in the royal bloodline, so he manipulated Toshinori to protect our family's status. When I found out, I was devastated. It wasn't just the words that hurt—it was the betrayal, the realization that my father had used Toshinori as a pawn."
She looked around at everyone, her eyes filled with a mix of sorrow and frustration. "Now, my father has asked me to help him make amends for his past mistakes. He wants Toshinori to remember his past and the pain he caused me. But when I see him now, he acts like a stranger. It's like the person I cared for is gone, replaced by someone who doesn't remember what he did to me."
Ellen's gaze fell to the floor as she tried to control her emotions. "I want him to remember, to understand the depth of the hurt he caused, not just for me but for everyone he's affected. But it's so hard seeing him like this, knowing that the connection we once had is lost."
Izuku looked at Ellen, his eyes filled with concern. "Thank you for sharing your story, Ellen. But I need to ask you—given that my son is now more devil than human, Do you still love him?
Ellen responded firmly, "I don't care what he has become. All I want is for him to remember who he is and what he has lost. I won't let him go this time."
She addressed Izuku with respect, acknowledging his status as the World No. 1 Hero. "Mr. Deku, thank you for understanding. I just want him to find his way back to himself."
Izuku chuckled and said, "Looks like I've found my daughter-in-law."
Bakugo: "Damn, Nerd, your son rizzed a royal without even knowing."
Izana: "Not just Toshinori—Ken rizzed Shinwa, and Shoya rizzed Kaori."
Bakugo and Shoto looked stunned as they realized their sons had won the hearts of princesses.Ellen, Shinwa, and Kaori all blushed deeply at the comments about their relationships.
Ellen: (blushing) "Well, I… I think we should focus on the current situation."
Shinwa: (blushing) "Yeah, let's not rush things."
Kaori: (blushing) "We're still figuring things out."
The parents, not missing a beat, responded with a mix of teasing and seriousness.
Izuku: "We want grandkids now!"
Shoto: "Yes, we're looking forward to it!"
Bakugo: "Don't keep us waiting too long!"
The next morning, Toshinori prepared to leave.
Toshinori: "Mr. Deku, thank you for everything."
Izuku: "Just one more thing before you go. I need a favor."
Toshinori chuckled, curious.
Toshinori: "What is it, Mr. Deku?"
Izuku: "I'd like you to be under UA surveillance. With the danger of Monster 0, your safety is crucial."
Toshinori pondered for a moment before responding.
Toshinori: "What about the kids at UA? Their safety is more important than mine."
Izuku's tone turned serious.
Izuku: "Your presence will actually help protect the students. It's vital to keep track of any potential threats, including you."
Toshinori nodded in agreement.
Toshinori: "Alright, I'll do it. I trust your judgment."
Izuku smiled, relieved.
Izuku: "Thank you, 01. We'll make sure to keep you safe and assist you with remembering your past."
Toshinori: "I don't care much about the past, but I trust you. I'll keep my word."
Ellen stepped forward.
Ellen: "I'll accompany you and ensure you join UA's surveillance."
Toshinori looked at her and said.
Toshinori: "Alright, Miss Azaria. Do as you see fit."
