My Hero Academia: The Legacy of Lost Numbers

Chapter 25: The Pain of Past

As Ellen, Kaori, and Shinwa were chatting in the coffee shop, their conversation was interrupted by a commotion outside. They quickly noticed a villain attempting to attack an innocent civilian.

Without hesitation, Kaori sprang into action, using her Infinity Quirk to protect the civilian with an impenetrable barrier.

Kaori: "Stay behind me! You're safe now."

The villain, realizing his attack was futile, snarled in frustration. Before he could react, Shinwa activated her Space Isolation Quirk, creating a powerful spatial distortion that sent the villain flying away.

Shinwa: "You're not causing any more trouble today."

Just as they thought the situation was under control, a group of villains appeared, surrounding the area.

Ellen's eyes narrowed, and she activated her Divine Quirk. With a swift motion, she unleashed a series of powerful, precise strikes, knocking out the villains one by one.

Ellen: "You picked the wrong day to cause chaos."

The crowd, initially frightened, erupted into cheers and applause. People began to thank the three heroes for their quick and decisive actions.

Among the crowd, a little girl shyly approached Ellen, holding a small bouquet of flowers. She looked up at Ellen with wide, admiring eyes.

Little Girl: "Your Quirk is so beautiful, ma'am. Thank you for saving us."

Ellen knelt down, accepting the flowers with a gentle smile. She was touched by the child's innocence and gratitude, and the scene brought back a flood of memories.

She remembered a time from her past with Toshinori, a moment when they were admired for their strength and heroism.

Ellen: "Thank you, sweetheart. These flowers are beautiful, just like your kind heart."

Kaori and Shinwa joined Ellen, each expressing their gratitude to the crowd.

The atmosphere was filled with relief and admiration for the heroes who had just saved the day.

Kaori: "We're just doing our duty. Protecting people is what we're here for."

Shinwa: "Remember, heroes are always around, ready to keep you safe."

As the crowd began to disperse, Ellen stood there, lost in her thoughts.

Kaori noticed and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

Kaori: "Everything okay, Ellen?"

Ellen nodded, still holding the flowers. "Yeah, it's just... this reminded me of Toshinori. How we used to be admired and how much things have changed."

Shinwa: "He might not remember everything, but deep down, he's still the same person. And you're still connected."

Ellen smiled softly, appreciating her friends' support. "Thanks, both of you. It's moments like these that remind me why we do what we do."

As they continued to sit at the coffee shop, the emotional weight of Ellen's story settled around them. The ambient noise of the bustling café faded into the background as Kaori and Shinwa processed Ellen's words.

Kaori, her voice soft but determined, asked, "Ellen, you never told us about what made you fall for Toshinori?"

Shinwa, equally curious, added, "Yeah, we want to know the story."

Ellen sighed, her gaze distant. "During my childhood, no one dared to be my friend because of how powerful I am. Everyone called me a monster."

Kaori and Shinwa exchanged looks of surprise. This was a part of Ellen's life they hadn't known.

Kaori said, "You never told us about this."

Ellen smiled, albeit sadly. "When I was crying in the park, thinking why I couldn't have a normal quirk like everyone else, he came."

Flashback:

A young Ellen sat on a park bench, tears streaming down her face.

Toshinori approached, concern etched on his features. "Why are you crying? What happened?"

Ellen looked up at him, her voice trembling. "Everyone thinks I'm a monster. They say I shouldn't be here and should go back to Russia."

Without hesitation, Toshinori hugged her. "You are not a monster. The quirk you have is wonderful and it resembles who you are and what you are."

Ellen was taken aback; it was the first time anyone had said something like that to her.

Toshinori continued, "The power you possess is a symbol of your courage. You should be proud of it."

Ellen cried harder, but this time in his arms. After a moment, she asked, "Who are you? What's your name?"

Toshinori hesitated but then said, "My name is Toshinori Midoriya. And I can be your friend."

A smile broke through Ellen's tears. She was happy for the first time in a long while.

Present:

Ellen's eyes shimmered with the memory. "That was our first meeting. He was the first person, other than my family, who treated me like a human. As I spent more time with him, I fell for him."

Shinwa sighed, "Toshinori was really kind-hearted."

Ellen nodded. "Then…"

Flashback:

A few years later, Ellen and Toshinori were older. Ellen approached him with a blush on her cheeks. "Toshinori, I want to tell you something."

Toshinori, trying to mask his emotions, asked, "What is it?"

Ellen took a deep breath. "I like you."

Toshinori's expression hardened. "Who do you think you are?"

Ellen was stunned. "What do you mean?"

Toshinori's voice was angry, almost venomous. "You want to use me because I'm Deku's son, right? You're just a hypocrite like the others. There's no way I could like someone like you."

Ellen's heart shattered. "But I thought you were different..."

Toshinori's eyes were cold. "Rather than being with a monster like you, I'd be happier alone. You're nothing but a monster to me, Ellen Azaria."

Ellen slapped him, tears streaming down her face. "I thought you were different, but you're just like them. I hate you, Toshinori Midoriya. I never want to see you again!"

She turned and ran, her sobs echoing through the park.

Present:

Kaori and Shinwa had tears in their eyes.

Ellen wiped a tear from her own cheek. "If only I knew my father told him to say those things… things could have been different. I could have stayed and maybe prevented what happened to him and our friends."

Kaori reached out, taking Ellen's hand. "It wasn't your fault, Ellen. Your father forced Toshinori to say those words."

Shinwa, wiping her tears, added, "Neither you nor Toshinori deserved this fate. Your father is trying to make amends now, and you've become stronger because of everything you've been through."

Kaori smiled, her eyes shining with determination. "Yeah, my father, Shinwa's father, Deku, and your father are some of the most powerful people on this planet. We have the potential to surpass them. We'll make sure our friends come back."

Ellen, tears welling up again, said, "They have to. Especially Toshinori, who took that pain inside his heart for so many years."

Ellen looked at Kaori, curiosity shining in her eyes. "So, what made you fall for Shoya?"

Kaori sighed, leaning back in her chair. "During my childhood..."

Flashback:

A young Kaori stood amidst a crowd, everyone cheering her on.

Gojo's voice boomed over the noise. "That's my daughter, and she will win no matter what happens!"

Everyone looked at Gojo, sensing the immense pressure he was putting on her.

Later, Kaori was alone in her room, tears streaming down her face. The weight of her family's expectations was crushing her.

Kaori muttered to herself, "Everyone thinks I'm the next in line to represent our royal bloodline after my father."

She buried her face in her hands, sobbing. "I don't want to be like this. I just want to be free."

Suddenly, a voice broke through her thoughts. "No one can force you to live how they want you to."

Kaori looked up, surprised to see Shoya standing in the doorway.

Shoya continued, "You know, I'm a person with a weak quirk. My own family despises me, but I always try to move on."

Kaori wiped her tears. "But it's..."

Before she could finish, Shoya interrupted gently. "You are the daughter of Gojo. No one can force you to live like they want."

He walked towards the door, pausing before leaving. "Try to talk to your father. I'm sure he will understand."

Present:

Kaori's eyes were distant, lost in the memory. "Shoya's words gave me the courage to stand up to my father. I realized I didn't have to live up to anyone's expectations but my own."

Ellen and Shinwa listened intently, feeling the weight of Kaori's words.

Shinwa said softly, "It's amazing how one person can change your perspective so much."

Kaori smiled, nodding. "Yeah. Shoya believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself. That's when I knew he was special."

Ellen reached out, squeezing Kaori's hand. "We're all lucky to have people like that in our lives. Let's make sure we never forget that."

Kaori turned her attention to Shinwa, curiosity piqued. "So, how did you fall for Ken?"

Shinwa sighed, a soft smile playing on her lips. "I was a bit egoistic."

Flashback:

A crowd of admirers surrounded Shinwa.

Others: "The great Shinwa Park, daughter of Daniel Park. The Goddess."

Shinwa basked in the admiration. "Well, you all are right, and I'm the only one who is worthy of a crown."

After soaking in the praise, she walked away, thinking to herself.

Shinwa: "Well, that was a hassle. Anyways, no one is here, I can relax."

As she found a quiet spot, she noticed someone and was taken aback.

Shinwa: "Who are you, and what's your motive?"

The young man replied calmly.

Ken: "Motive? I'm a free man, and I have a right to be at peace."

Shinwa was shocked. It was the first time someone had treated her like an ordinary person.

Shinwa: "You know who I am, right?"

Ken looked at her, unperturbed.

Ken: "You are a person. Anything else?"

Shinwa was taken aback by his response. He treated her like a normal person, not as some queen.

Present:

Shinwa's eyes sparkled with the memory. "Ken was the first person to see me for who I really was, not just Daniel Park's daughter or a 'goddess.' He saw me as a person, and that made all the difference."

Ellen and Kaori nodded, understanding the significance of her story.

Ellen said softly, "It's incredible how someone seeing us for who we truly are can change everything."

Kaori agreed. "Yes, it reminds us that we're more than our titles or powers. We're people, with feelings and dreams."

Shinwa smiled. "And that's why I fell for Ken. He showed me that being myself was enough."

The three friends shared a moment of reflection, feeling a deeper connection through their shared experiences and the people who had touched their lives in profound ways.
