Chapter 22: Chapter 22 – "The First Real Battle
As the black vortex of space-time swirled, Kairo felt his body being pulled toward Thirteen's Black Hole Quirk.
Aizawa had been taken down. The villains were swarming. Kurogiri's portal had opened beneath them, aiming to scatter the students.
Kairo's mind raced.
Teleportation isn't instant—it's a force dragging things inside. If I counter the force—!
BOOM!
Kairo unleashed a directional shockwave, pushing himself away from the portal's pull just before it closed. His body flipped mid-air, and he landed in a crouch, grinding across the ruined battlefield.
"That was close…" he muttered.
Kenta, who had been warped away but managed to land safely nearby, caught sight of Kairo and let out a breath.
"He figured out how to escape that fast? He really never panics…"
Kairo glanced around, assessing the battlefield. The scattered students, the villains closing in—
And then he saw it.
Nomu.
A hulking, monstrous figure standing over a bloodied Aizawa.
Shigaraki's laughter echoed.
"Now then… who wants to be the next one to break?"
Kairo stepped forward.
"Bring it on."
The air in the USJ facility was heavy. Smoke curled around the battlefield, carrying the scent of scorched metal and dust. The scattered cries of students echoed in the background, their voices filled with a mixture of determination and fear.
Kairo stood his ground, his golden eyes locked on the grotesque figure before him—Nomu.
The monster was unnervingly still, a mass of mutated muscle and raw power, its empty eyes locked onto him.
And behind it—Shigaraki, grinning like a predator.
"This thing took down Aizawa in seconds," Kairo analyzed, his mind working at full speed. "And All Might still hasn't shown up… If I don't stop it here, everyone else—"
Shigaraki's voice cut through the tense air, light and mocking.
"You're in my way, extra. Just lay down and let Nomu do its work, yeah?"
Kairo said nothing. His focus was on Nomu.
And then—it moved.
It wasn't just speed. It was instantaneous.
One second, Nomu was standing still. The next, it was in front of him.
A fist came crashing down.
Kairo barely managed to dodge—barely.
BOOOOM!
The shockwave of the punch alone sent him skidding backward. The entire floor cracked open from the sheer force.
Fast. Strong. And it doesn't feel pain?
Kairo's muscles tensed. He had fought strong opponents before. But this… this thing was built for destruction.
Kairo pivoted on his foot, dodging another crushing blow and countering with a shockwave punch to Nomu's ribs.
BOOM!
The attack connected—but Nomu didn't even flinch.
Before Kairo could react, Nomu's clawed hand lashed out.
SLAM.
The impact sent Kairo flying, smashing through a collapsed metal beam.
Kenta, watching from a distance, clenched his fists.
"Even Kairo's hits aren't working? That thing's endurance is insane…"
Nomu charged again, closing the distance in an instant. But this time—
Kairo was ready.
Kairo's golden eyes narrowed.
It's regenerating too fast. I need more force—more concentrated impact.
Then—an idea.
As Nomu launched its next attack, Kairo threw out his hands and—
A pulse exploded from his body.
A shockwave barrier formed, absorbing the impact and reversing it.
Nomu staggered for the first time.
Kairo didn't let up. He charged in, twisting his fist mid-air—
A compressed explosive shockwave.
"Let's see you shrug this off."
BOOOOOOM!!!
Nomu was blasted backward, skidding across the battlefield.
Shigaraki's face twitched with annoyance.
"Hah? You're actually making it struggle?"
But Kairo's victory was short-lived.
Nomu regenerated instantly and rushed him even faster.
Damn it—!
Nomu's hand wrapped around Kairo's arm.
Kairo felt the bones creak under the pressure.
He had to end this. Now.
He took a deep breath.
His pulses sharpened. Focused.
He twisted his hand, rotating the energy inside his palm—
A spiraling shockwave.
A drilling force.
A technique that tears through anything.
"Break—!"
BOOOOM!!!
Nomu was sent flying.
For the first time, its body struggled to regenerate.
Shigaraki stumbled backward, eyes wide. "What the hell was that?!"
Kairo exhaled slowly, body tense. He wasn't done yet.
But before he could finish the job—
A massive gust of wind shook the battlefield.
A new presence arrived.
All Might had finally come.
And he was staring straight at Kairo.
Eyes filled with recognition and he want to see how young kairo confront his enemy
Kairo's breathing had steadied. His golden eyes stayed locked on Nomu, still twitching as it attempted to regenerate from his last attack.
But now—Kairo wasn't rushing in blindly.
He had watched All Might fight.
He had studied the way Nomu reacted.
He had realized something.
"It's tough. It's fast. But it's predictable."
Nomu's movements were instinctual, not intelligent. It relied on its power, not skill.
And that… was its greatest weakness.
Kairo's stance shifted. His entire body relaxed, yet every muscle was tensed for action.
This time, he wasn't just going to attack.
He was going to control the battlefield.
With a deep inhale—he activated his vibration sense.
Suddenly, the entire USJ environment became clear to him. Every movement, every step, even the heartbeat of everyone around him—he could feel it.
Nomu charged again.
A direct, powerful punch—just like before.
But this time—
Kairo was already gone.
A slight shift in his footing, and he blurred out of the attack's range without wasting a single movement.
"Fast, but not fast enough."
Nomu's second attack came instantly—a downward slam meant to crush him.
But Kairo had already predicted it.
He slid sideways—not dodging, but redirecting his weight, minimizing movement while keeping his momentum.
Nomu's fist crashed into the ground—
And in that fraction of a second, Kairo struck back.
He shifted his foot forward, his entire body coiling like a spring—
Then—
BOOM!
A single compressed explosive shockwave erupted from his palm, perfectly timed against Nomu's exposed ribs.
The force didn't just push Nomu—it sent the monster reeling.
Nomu stumbled back for the first time.
Kairo didn't let up.
Before Nomu could recover, he closed the distance instantly. His hands became a blur—
Shockwave jabs. Drilling strikes. Vibration pulses to disrupt muscle control.
Nomu, for the first time—couldn't regenerate fast enough.
And then—Kairo went for the finisher.
His right hand charged with energy—but this time, instead of a normal shockwave, he compressed the energy into a single, spiraling drill-like force.
"Drilling Impact Shockwave."
With precise timing, he struck Nomu's core—
And released the full compressed force in one devastating burst.
BOOOOOOM!
The entire battlefield shook.
Nomu's body contorted, its limbs trembling violently as the sheer force overwhelmed its regeneration.
It staggered. Fell to one knee.
And then—
It stopped moving.
Nomu was completely incapacitated.
The villains stood frozen.
Even Kurogiri hesitated.
Shigaraki's hand twitched violently.
"What… what did you just DO?"
He stared at Nomu's still body, his expression twisting into sheer disbelief.
"That thing was made to kill All Might…" His breathing became ragged. "And you—"
His fingers clawed at his own neck.
"YOU RUINED IT!"
Shigaraki lunged forward.
But before he could reach Kairo—
A gust of wind ripped through the battlefield.
A powerful presence stepped forward.
"That's enough."
The pressure in the air shifted.
Kairo barely had time to turn before a towering figure of pure power landed in front of him.
All Might.
His smile was unwavering, but his eyes held sharp focus.
The remaining villains flinched.
Shigaraki, however, was too enraged to care.
"Kill him—NOW!"
Kurogiri hurried to react, but—
Kairo moved first.
Kairo didn't hesitate.
With a single step, he closed the gap.
Shigaraki's hand reached out—aiming for his throat.
But Kairo was faster.
A precise vibration pulse struck Shigaraki's arm, disrupting his control.
"Tch—!" Shigaraki stumbled back, his fingers twitching violently.
He wasn't used to being overpowered.
And the realization sent him spiraling further into madness.
"You're just a DAMN STUDENT!"
His voice cracked. His hands twitched wildly.
"HOW?! WHY?! THIS ISN'T FAIR!!"
Before Shigaraki could attack again, Kurogiri's portal engulfed him.
"Enough, Tomura."
Shigaraki gritted his teeth, but Kurogiri forced the retreat.
His last words echoed through the battlefield.
"Next time… I'll make sure you DIE."
And then—they were gone.
The battlefield finally fell silent.
