My Hero Academia: Heavenly Restriction

Chapter 22: [21] Suiting Up

Camie slipped into the girls' locker room, the excited chatter of her classmates washing over her. Her fingers traced the smooth surface of her costume case as she made her way to an open spot between Yaoyorozu and Ashido.

"This is so exciting!" Ashido bounced on her toes, already half out of her uniform. "Our first real hero training!"

"Indeed." Yaoyorozu's movements were precise as she unbuttoned her blazer. "I wonder what sort of exercise All Might has planned for us."

"Probably something intense, ribbit." Asui had somehow already changed into her bodysuit, adjusting the goggles on her head. "He doesn't seem like the type to start small."

Camie set down her case, watching the others from the corner of her eye as she shrugged off her uniform jacket. The dynamic between her classmates fascinated her - each girl bringing her own energy to the group.

"Has anyone else noticed how many of our costumes are, like, really form-fitting?" Hagakure's floating gloves gestured expressively. "Not that I'm complaining, but..."

"It's practical." Yaoyorozu's voice carried the weight of someone who'd clearly thought this through. "Loose fabric can be a liability in combat situations."

"Says the girl whose costume has a strategic boob window," Ashido teased, pulling on her own suit.

"It's necessary for my quirk!"

"Must be nice having an excuse." Jiro hunched over slightly, arms crossed. She hadn't started changing yet.

Camie paused in unbuttoning her shirt. Time for some positive reinforcement.

"Girl, you're totally serving right now." She let her shirt fall open, revealing a black lace bra that had several of her classmates doing double-takes. "And just wait until you get your costume on."

Jiro's cheeks flushed. "I don't- It's not-"

"Speaking of serving," Ashido cut in, zipping up her suit. "What's the tea with you and Midoriya?"

The locker room fell silent. Even Hagakure's floating clothes stilled.

"Oh?" Camie kept her voice casual as she slipped out of her skirt. "What do you mean?"

"Don't play coy!" Ashido pointed an accusing finger. "We've all seen how close you two are. The way you're always together, how you lean in when you talk..."

"Ashido!" Uraraka's scandalized tone didn't quite hide her obvious interest in the answer.

A bass-heavy beat suddenly thumped through the wall, followed by masculine cheering from the boys' locker room.

"Sounds like the boys are having fun," Asui observed.

"Don't change the subject!" Ashido planted herself in front of Camie. "We need details!"

Camie laughed, taking her time pulling on her suit. The sleek material slid over her skin like liquid shadow. "Izu and I are just friends."

"Just friends don't call each other pet names," Yaoyorozu pointed out, then immediately looked mortified at participating in the gossip.

"Or stare at each other like that," Hagakure added.

"Like what?" Camie raised an eyebrow, genuinely curious.

"Like... like..." Hagakure's gloves waved expressively. "Like you're having an entire conversation without words!"

"That's called being besties." Camie adjusted her suit's neckline.

The girls grumbled but returned to changing. Camie caught Todoroki watching her with those mismatched eyes, expression unreadable. She offered a small smile, which Todoroki acknowledged with a slight nod before turning away.

"These boots are so cute!" Uraraka's voice drew attention back to safer topics. "But I hope they're practical for zero-gravity situations."

"Support department usually knows what they're doing," Jiro said, finally starting to change. "Though I'm still not sure about these speakers..."

"They look rad as hell," Camie assured her. "Very Joan Jett."

"You think?" Jiro perked up slightly.

"Totally. And check out Kodai's fit - that baseball cap is giving me major streetwear vibes."

Kodai's lips curved in a small smile. "Mm."

"See? Even Kodai knows she's rocking it."

The bass from next door increased, accompanied by what sounded like Kaminari trying to freestyle.

"What are they even doing over there?" Jiro pressed her earphone jack against the wall.

"Do we want to know?" Yaoyorozu asked.

"Probably not," several girls chorused.

Camie finished adjusting her costume, running a hand through her hair to achieve that perfect tousled look. Her eyes caught her reflection in the mirror - the suit fit exactly as intended, the emerald accents complementing the shadows perfectly.

"Okay, but seriously," Ashido sidled up next to her, voice low. "You can tell me. Is there something going on with you and Midoriya?"

Camie met her eyes in the mirror. "Why so interested?"

"Because!" Ashido threw up her hands. "He's like, totally different from what we expected! When we heard 'quirkless student' we thought..."

"You thought what?" Camie's tone cooled slightly.

Ashido backpedaled. "No, no! I just mean... he's got this presence, you know? Like he could take on the world and win. And the way he handles Bakugo and Mineta? It's kind of amazing."

"Izu's full of surprises." Camie's smile returned, softer this time. "That's what makes him interesting."

"So there is something!"

"There's friendship." Camie turned to face her. "Real friendship. The kind where you trust someone completely, where you can be yourself without judgment."

The locker room fell quiet again, but this time it felt different. Contemplative.

"That's... actually really beautiful," Uraraka said softly.

"Though it doesn't explain the lingerie," Hagakure added.

Camie laughed. "Can't a girl feel pretty for herself?"

"Hell yeah!" Ashido struck a pose. "We're all serving today!"

"Some more than others," Jiro muttered, tugging at her costume.

"Girl, stop." Camie moved to her side. "You look amazing. The leather jacket? The boots? Total rockstar vibes. Own it!"

"I guess..."

"No guessing! Say it with me - I look hot as fuck!"

"I'm not saying that!"

"Then I'll say it for you. Jiro? Hot as fuck! Who agrees?"

A chorus of agreement filled the room, even Todoroki nodding slightly.

"You're all ridiculous," Jiro said, but she was fighting back a smile.

Another cheer erupted from the boys' locker room, followed by what sounded like Kirishima shouting "MUSTARD!" at top volume.

"We should probably head out soon," Yaoyorozu said, checking her phone. "It wouldn't do to be late."

"One sec!" Ashido pulled out her phone. "We need a girl squad pic first! Everyone get in!"

They clustered together, a mix of excitement and nervousness on their faces. Camie found herself between Jiro and Kodai, throwing up a peace sign as Ashido's phone flashed.

"Perfect!" Ashido beamed at the screen. "We look so good!"

"Send that to the group chat," Hagakure said, her gloves adjusting invisible hair.

"Already on it!"

Camie checked her own phone, smiling at the notification. They did look good - a diverse group of future heroes, each bringing something unique to the table. Her eyes lingered on her own image, the way her costume's emerald accents echoed the shade of Izuku's hair...

Not going there, she told herself firmly. Focus on training.

"Ready?" Yaoyorozu asked, hand on the door.

"Born ready!" Ashido punched the air.

"Let's do this, ribbit."

"Mm!"

===

I pushed open the door to the boys' locker room, already hearing the chaos within. Kaminari had hooked up his phone to a portable speaker, bass thumping as he attempted to freestyle while changing.

"Yo yo, UA's finest, about to shine bright-"

"Please cease this inappropriate behavior during costume preparation!" Iida's hand chopped through the air as he meticulously arranged his armor pieces.

"Aw come on, Iida! We need some hype music!" Kaminari grinned, pulling his jacket over a plain white shirt. "This is our first hero training!"

"HYPE!" Manga's speech bubble head displayed the word in bold comic font.

I made my way to an open spot, setting down my case. The emerald and black bodysuit slid on easily, its panels fitting perfectly. Support Department knew their stuff.

"Looking sharp, Midoribro!" Kirishima called out, already dressed in his hero costume - a sleeveless outfit that emphasized his hardening quirk, complete with gear-shaped shoulder pads and a ragged half cape that somehow worked with his spiky red hair.

"Thanks." I adjusted the white armor plates on my shoulders, making sure they sat right. "You're not looking too bad yourself."

"Right? Super manly!" He struck a pose, grinning with those sharp teeth. "Though I gotta say, that jacket is gonna be fire."

I pulled the bomber jacket from my case, running my fingers over the orange-red material. Camie had insisted on it, claiming it would make my costume "iconic." The Vol.13 patch on the sleeve caught the light as I slipped it on.

"Dude, those shoes though!" Sero pointed at my metallic red shoes. "Support Department let you get away with that?"

"Had to argue my case," I said, tightening the laces. "But considering I'll be doing a lot of close combat, having proper footwork support made sense."

"They do look quite magnifique," Aoyama sparkled, adjusting his cape. "Though perhaps not as dazzling as moi..."

"Nothing's as dazzling as you, bro," Kaminari assured him.

Tokoyami stood in a corner, his dark cloak making him look like a shadowy sentinel. "The aesthetics are... acceptable."

"The hell you extras going on about?" Bakugo growled, strapping on his grenade-shaped gauntlets. "Who gives a shit what we look like as long as we can fight?"

"Image is important for heroes," Shoji said quietly, his multiple arms moving in perfect sync as he dressed. "It affects how civilians perceive us."

"Whatever." Bakugo yanked on his mask. "Just don't get in my way during training."

I caught my reflection in the mirror, taking in the full ensemble. The emerald and black bodysuit formed the foundation, its armored panels providing protection without sacrificing mobility. White shoulder plates and gauntlets added a tactical edge, while the red utility belt filled with some toys broke up the silhouette. But it was the orange-red bomber jacket that pulled it all together, its oversized fit and fur-lined collar creating a distinctive silhouette.

"Midoribro, you ready?" Kirishima called from the door, his hardened skin catching the light. "All Might's waiting!"

I zipped up the jacket, adjusting the collar. "As ready as I'll ever be."

We filed out, joining the girls who were emerging from their locker room. Camie caught my eye, giving me a thumbs up. Her black suit with its emerald accents mirrored my color scheme subtly - noticeable if you knew to look, but not obvious enough to seem planned.

The walk to Ground Beta felt charged with energy. Conversations overlapped as everyone speculated about what All Might had planned. I kept to the back of the group, observing. Analyzing. Twenty students, twenty different fighting styles, twenty potential combinations of abilities...

We emerged from the tunnel into bright sunlight. Ground Beta spread before us - a sprawling urban training facility complete with buildings, streets, and various terrain features. All Might stood waiting, his massive frame casting an impressive shadow.

"They say clothes make the pros, young heroes-in-training!" His voice boomed across the space. "And I must say, you're all looking mighty impressive!"

I shifted my weight, settling into a relaxed stance. Whatever test he had planned, I was ready. The jacket moved with me perfectly, exactly as designed.

"Take this to heart. You are all now HEROES IN TRAINING!"

I watched as my classmates gathered, each costume telling its own story about its wearer's aspirations and personality. Camie approached, her black bodysuit catching the light in a way that made the emerald accents shimmer. The suit hugged every curve, the reinforced panels accentuating rather than hiding her figure.

"Izu!" She spun in place, the movement fluid and practiced. "It came out better than expected! The Support Department really nailed the material specs."

I kept my eyes firmly on her face, though I noted Mineta's heavy breathing from somewhere behind me. "The emerald accents work well. Good call on the placement."

"Right?" She tapped the metallic hardware on her shoulders. "And your fit is absolutely fire! The jacket was definitely the right choice."

"You look super cool, Midoriya!" Uraraka bounced over, her own black and pink costume showcasing her athletic build. "The whole ensemble really works!"

"Thanks." I adjusted my collar, scanning the gathering crowd of students. An observation struck me - nearly every female costume featured form-fitting elements that emphasized their athletic builds. Yaoyorozu's exposed midsection, Mina's camouflage bodysuit, Camie's sleek design... Even Uraraka's suit highlighted her figure. Only Jiro, in her punk rock outfit, and Hagakure, for obvious reasons, bucked the trend.

"Hero school is amazing," Mineta drooled, his eyes darting from girl to girl. "Truly a paradise..."

I moved before thinking, placing myself between him and my classmates. "Something interesting caught your eye, Mineta?"

He jumped, then tried to recover with a sleazy grin. "Hey, I wasn't even looking at Utsushimi! Just appreciating the... general view."

"I see." I let my posture shift slightly. "And you think that's appropriate behavior for a hero in training?"

Mineta's grin faltered. "I was just-"

"Being a creep," Jiro cut in, her earphone jacks writhing with irritation. "Seriously, do you have to be so gross?"

"Now, now," Camie stepped up beside me, her smile sharp. "I'm sure Mineta understands that heroes need to show proper respect for their colleagues. Right?"

The temperature seemed to drop several degrees. Mineta gulped, backing away. "Y-yeah, of course! My bad!"

"Glad we cleared that up." I maintained eye contact until he retreated behind Kaminari.

"Young heroes!" All Might's voice boomed across the training ground. "Gather round! It's time to begin your first practical lesson!"

As we moved to form a semicircle around All Might, Camie bumped her shoulder against mine. "My hero," she teased quietly.

"Just looking out for my bestie."

"Mm-hmm." Her knowing smile said she wasn't buying my casual tone, but she let it drop as All Might began explaining the exercise.

"Today's training will pull no punches!" He produced a small ball from somewhere, holding it up dramatically. "You'll be working in pairs for a game of indoor anti-personnel battle training!"

"Indoor?" Asui tilted her head.

"Combat training!" Bakugo's grin turned feral.

All Might nodded. "Indeed! Villain battles are most commonly seen outdoors, but statistically, the most heinous villains are more likely to appear indoors. Think about it - backroom deals, secret lairs, underground bases! In this hero-saturated society, intelligent villains stay hidden in the shadows!"

He gestured to the buildings behind him. "You'll be split into villain and hero teams, two-on-two. The villains will be guarding a nuclear weapon they intend to deploy, while the heroes must stop them before time runs out!"

"Isn't this a little advanced?" Yaoyorozu raised her hand.

"Learning through experience is the best way!" All Might struck a pose. "However, the key to being successful in this challenge will not be just defeating your opponents - you must embody the roles you're assigned! Think like a hero, think like a villain! Let your creativity flow!"

I felt my lips curve into a smile. Role-playing while testing our combat abilities - it was a clever way to make us think beyond simple fighting.

"But first, we'll need to determine the teams!" All Might produced a box marked 'LOTS'. "Drawing lots!"

"Is that really the best way?" Iida chopped the air with concern.

"Think about it." I spoke up, drawing attention. "Pros often have to team up with heroes from other agencies on the spot during crises. Learning to work with random partners builds adaptability."

"Ah! As expected of you, Midoriya! Always thinking ahead!" All Might gave me a thumbs up. "Now, let's draw our teams!"

One by one, we drew lots. I pulled a ball marked with the letter 'A'.

"Team A," Yaoyorozu announced, holding up her matching ball. "Looks like we're partners, Midoriya."

I smiled. "Look forward to working with you."

Once all teams were formed, All Might drew more lots to determine the first match-up. "Team as A heroes versus Team D as villains!"

I looked at our opponents - Bakugo and Iida. Bakugo's smile deepened as our eyes met.

"Villain team gets five minutes to set up!" All Might announced. "Everyone else, follow me to the monitoring room!"
