So far, my feelings consist of two words: 'me' and 'shit'. Being a kid is boring as hell. And not only that, I can't even defecate or eat on my own. No, for a normal kid, that's fine, but me, not a normal kid...and because of that, I was more embarrassed than ever before.
I was born in Tokyo, I mean Japan, and I myself was born Japanese...sort of. To tell the truth, in my past life, I wanted to visit the birthplace of anime, samurai and gozilla, after graduating from uni, but apparently fate had its own plans for this, and she decided to arrange my acquaintance with the land of the rising sun faster.
I didn't have time to get used to my new mummy because...when she came out of labour, she left the maternity hospital and left me behind. It was a good thing I wasn't taken to an orphanage, because the nice young nurse who was looking after me contacted my maternal grandfather, Mizuiro Saburo. The old man was a little shocked that his daughter had abandoned her child and left for an unknown destination. In a conversation with the nurse, he mentioned that his daughter had found herself some foreigner from England, and they had an affair, that she was even going to marry him.
My grandfather immediately said that he would not recognise marriage to a 'damned gaijin'...oh my grandfather is a fruit. So my mummy took offence at him and didn't even speak to him for a year...and then my grandfather found out that he had a grandson born the other day, and that's me.
Apparently Midori, my mother's name was, didn't make it with the Englishman, but she thought of having a baby and leaving, probably to her boyfriend, by God, I don't know what goes on in women's heads. I'm a little offended by the fact that my biological parents don't need me, but I'm not that offended, I'm not a child, but mentally I'm an adult.
My grandfather, of course, was not the most politically correct man, but even he had a conscience, and to abandon his grandson, as his shameless daughter abandoned him, he could not. So Saburo took custody of me, and since Mammy didn't bother to give me a name, he named me Akira. So now my name is Mizuiro Akira, and I like it better than no name at all.
I had no problems with my grandfather, I was a smart kid and didn't need much attention, and my grandfather was very happy about it, because according to him, my mother was a crybaby in childhood, especially when his wife, my grandmother, died, she experienced a very strong emotional stress from the loss of her mother and cried even harder, and I, on the contrary, was always a calm child... I just don't see the point of crying like ordinary children, considering the world I was reborn in. By the way, two years after I was born, my system finally activated:
≪Status≫

'Quirk - Blue Light' ['Quirk', or a mutation that causes normal humans to develop supernatural abilities. This mutation is called 'Plus-Alpha', which invades the body with an entire quirk control mechanism. Your brain(mind) and soul produce magical energy of Light and mixes with the photonic energy stored in the cells of the body].
≪Skills≫.
'Breaking the Language Barrier.' [A magical add-on that removes the language barrier. You intuitively know and understand all languages in the world].
'Inventory' [spatial pocket, for storing various items and stuff] [locked, to unlock it, invest more energy].
'???'
To be honest, the System itself, reminds me of the very real Game System, with stat boosting and leveling up. I guess the past me was counting on the fact that, if something goes wrong with his rebirth, even the most moronic reincarnation of himself (which I am) will be able to figure out the system's controls. Some of the skills in the system are blocked, or not active at all, Umbra said that he will complete the system...apparently not yet completed. In this world, about eighty per cent of people, are mutants, or a new kind of man, with new mutations, and everyone, this mutation is different. Some breathe fire, some can fly, and some are talking cactus...and it's true.
The first person in the world to exhibit mutations was a newborn baby in Qingqing, China, who had the ability to absorb light, just like me, by the way. After this incident, many people around the world began to manifest various superpowers. But it didn't end well. Ordinary people began to belittle mutants, and they fought back...somewhere it was already there. So, every year, the birth rate of people became less and less, and the mutants on the contrary, the birth rate increased exponentially, and to date, ordinary people on the whole earth remained less than twenty per cent. When superpowers only began to appear in people, such people were called 'man with a quirk', since then, all superpowers are called quirks. In general, although the name is strange, but it makes sense, whimsy, after all, means something unusual and peculiar, original. The very nature of the emergence of superpowers, no one really knows. There are only small guesses, and even then unlikely.
Because of all these squabbles in the past, society has stalled in development, people have not even gone into space, only continue to slowly master it, and now it is the middle of the twenty-second century. Another problem was that the criminal elements of all countries and peoples also had superpowers, and organised bacchanalia wherever they could.
At that time there was too much discord in society all over the world, and because of all these problems with superpowers, the authorities passed a law banning the use of superpowers all over the world. This law does not apply only to superheroes who have undergone special training and have a licence to use superpowers. It is on the one hand depressing, because various mutations have a huge potential for use, but on the other hand happy, because the mass use of superpowers can lead to big problems, especially in the era of man-made weapons. Surely, even now, somewhere, someone has a terrifying ability that allows to demolish entire cities, and it is not fact that it can be controlled, and the same superheroes are now limited by a set of rules and moral principles ... as I think, everything would be much easier, let the government to use superpowers not to weirdos in suits, and law enforcement agencies. Superpowers tend to give the average person unprecedented power, elevating them in the eyes of the people and the public, but many use them to fight crime in colourful clothes.
Initially, I had already tried to use my powers, and it was surprisingly easy for me. I was enveloped in a blue light, which made me faster and stronger, but not for long, all for about two or three minutes, while the flows of this energy in my body, phoned from all sides. Apparently I lacked control, and because of that, all the energy was quickly escaping from my body. I couldn't think of anything better to do than to sit in a meditative pose and try to use the energy more sparingly, so that it wouldn't fly off in all directions.
Slightly ironic, my name, Akira means bright or dawn, and Mizuiro means light blue. Yeah, that name really suits me.
By the way, my grandfather has a quirk like mutation 'Amplification', which makes his body strong, strong and enduring, and it's very convenient, because my grandfather is a master of martial arts. He's about to turn sixty years old, and this huge mustachioed mountain of muscles, named Saburo, can't be called a weak old man.
- What are you doing, grandson? - asked the Asian bodybuilder, catching me in a meditative pose.
- I'm meditating. - replied the little black-haired, blue-eyed kid, that's me.
- And why do you do it?
- That's why. - I said and wrapped my body in a light blue aura, which surprised my grandfather, judging by the raised eyebrows in surprise. - Shit, I'm out of energy. - I said, a little frustrated, as I faded out.
- Hmm, you seem to have picked up a quirk from my father, your great-grandfather. - Grandpa said, still a little surprised.
- Yes? My great-grandfather had a similar quirk? - I wondered.
- I guess so, except that my father could cover only a part of his body with light, making it stronger, but not the whole body at the same time, like you. - Grandfather remarked. - Grandson, the next time you try to do anything else unusual, warn me.
- Yeah, I got it, Grandpa. - I nodded and stood up, my legs were already stiff. - By the way, what is my mother's quirk?
Grandpa frowned a little at my question...no, he just always walks with such a frown, that you can't tell what mood he's in.
- Your mother has a quirk called 'Absorption', she can absorb sunlight, but for that she had to stand under the sun for a long time, and it was no use, she just glowed like a light bulb...irresponsible fool. - he finished grudgingly. - In any case, get ready Akira, since you have awakened a quirk, you should be examined at the hospital just in case.
At the hospital, I was shown to the doctor, who was also surprised, as it's very rare for a quirk to activate at such an early age, and even this strong. Usually quirks are activated before the age of four, and in rare cases, birth itself. And I'm just such a case, well, it's not surprising, with my background as a former god...who spent almost two years of his life to briefly shroud himself in light. The hospital went through my relatives' medical records and compared them to mine.
- Amazing! - exclaimed the doctor, looking at the papers in his hands.
- What did the doctor say? - Grandpa asked as I sat next to him on the couch.
- Your grandson! His quirk, this is an extremely rare case, in my career I have encountered such quirks twice, and even they were not as surprising as your grandson's quirk. - said the doctor with burning eyes. - His quirk is a combination of the quirks of his relatives, including his great-grandfather, his mother, and even you, Mizuiro-san, because physically, Akira-kun's body grows faster than other children's, and the same thing happened to you when you were a child, according to your medical records, but your grandson's intellect is also developing extremely fast.... but unfortunately, neither you nor I know what his or his relatives' quirks were.
- You mean he's fine? - Saburo frowned, he doesn't really like it when the topic of my dad...whose name I don't even know, is brought up.
- Huh? Y-yes, of course! - the doctor was embarrassed, under the gaze of my burly grandfather. - Now, let's just put the name of the quirk in the medical book, Akira-kun, what do you want to call your quirk? - he turned to me.
- Mm, let's call it 'Stream of Light.' - I said, swinging my legs on the couch. I chose this name for a reason, there is a definition called Luminous Flux, which is the quality of light emitted, measured in lumens. This indicator is used to determine the illuminance per square metre. In simple words, the luminous flux is the amount of light emitted by a luminaire or a single bulb...another ironic name for me. By the way, what's my status:
≪Status≫
HP: 280.
Light: 930 [232.5 per hour]
Characteristics:
Body: 19
Stamina: 28
Control: 34
Intelligence: 35
Magic: 30
Apparently Umbra had tinkered with my birth process and tweaked a few things in my genome, which explained why my body was such a successful compilation of genes. The doctor then explained about the quirks themselves. There are four variations: radiation, exposure, mutation and transformation.
Radiation involves the ability to release certain substances or energy. Quirks of this type require conscious activation. Radiation type quirks can also have different ranges. Some require physical contact to use the quirk, while others may have ranges that have no distance limitations. This type of quirk is the most common and varied.
Exposure allows the wearers to influence someone or something. Unlike radiation quirks, these quirks only manifest when in contact with an object.
Transformation changes the wearer's body for a certain amount of time. Quirks of this type temporarily alter the body or individual limbs in various ways, sometimes even improving it or granting new abilities. Usually a quirk of this type only affects the user's body. Quirks of this type are also the only known type of quirks that are able to endow their users with features and parameters that they did not originally have. This type of quirk is the least common type of quirk. The mutation has a wide variety of features that have one thing in common: the quirk is part of the user's body. Quirks of this type do not require activation and allow you to maximise their use. Quirks of the mutation type allow the user to use their abilities in an unconventional way to achieve a certain goal. This can be as simple as changing body parts or improving the original abilities.
In general, these are all kinds of tails, horns, healthy hands...not particularly useful mutations, unlike the same telekinesis, flight or blowing lasers from the eyes. What to say, mutations are like a lottery, some people get really useful powers, and some people get rubbish. In fact, my abilities are a type of Radiation, I can produce the energy of Light, and strengthen my body with it, from the outside it looks like I'm covered in a blue magical aura...although I am. This energy itself is something between photon energy, i.e. solar energy, and magical energy, i.e. mana. Well, I guess that's good enough for me. The doctor also, a little bit snickered with me, saying how cool I could be a hero, but I think this kind of activity is definitely not for me. Nowadays, being a hero is like a popularity and money-making show, like some Hollywood superstars, and it's a little dumb, so I'm definitely not going to be a hero...or am I?
