My Cold Muse | Yoonmin

The campus hall buzzed with excitement that morning. A new announcement had just been posted on the information board: a collaborative arts project combining dance and music, themed "Harmony of Emotions." Every student from the arts department was required to participate—including Jimin, Jungkook, and, of course… Yoongi.

"Hyung, this is your golden chance!" Jungkook exclaimed excitedly, pointing at the announcement.

Jimin stared at the notice, feeling a mix of nervousness and anticipation. His eyes scanned the list of participants until they landed on one name—Min Yoongi, listed under the music section. His breath hitched for a moment.

"I knew he'd be part of this. He's the best pianist on campus," Jimin murmured.

"Exactly! Which is why you need to take this opportunity to get closer to him. I mean, come on—the theme is harmony. It's practically made for you two." Jungkook chuckled, nudging Jimin teasingly.

Jimin could only sigh. Was this really the right time?

On the first day of the project briefing, Jimin and Jungkook entered the hall with eager steps. The participants had already gathered, filling the room with chatter. In one corner, Jimin spotted Yoongi standing alone, clad in a black hoodie, earphones plugged in. His face was unreadable, completely indifferent to the lively atmosphere around him.

"Hyung, he's alone. Go talk to him!" Jungkook whispered, giving Jimin a gentle push.

"But he looks like he doesn't want to be bothered," Jimin muttered nervously.

"That's exactly why you should be the first one to get through to him. Come on, the Jimin hyung I know wouldn't give up this easily."

Jimin took a deep breath, trying to summon his courage. He stepped toward Yoongi, feeling as if the entire room was watching him. But before he could say anything, a professor's voice broke through the chatter.

"Alright, good morning, everyone. I hope you've all read the project details. For the first stage, you'll be assigned into small groups consisting of both musicians and dancers. Your group names are listed on the sheets I'm about to hand out."

The professor began distributing the list of group assignments. Jimin's heart pounded as he received his sheet and scanned for his name.

Group 3: Jimin, Yoongi, and Hana.

Jimin could hardly believe his eyes. He reread the names multiple times, making sure he wasn't mistaken. Jungkook, peeking over his shoulder, grinned widely.

"It's fate, hyung. Absolute fate." He patted Jimin's back with a smug look.

After the briefing, the participants were instructed to meet with their assigned groups to discuss initial ideas. Jimin hesitantly made his way toward Yoongi, who still stood in the same spot.

"H-Hello," Jimin greeted, his voice slightly shaky.

Yoongi lifted his gaze, his expression unreadable. "Hmm. You're in Group 3 too?"

"Yeah. I'm Jimin, from the dance department," Jimin introduced himself, attempting a friendly smile despite his nervousness.

Yoongi gave a brief nod. "Yoongi. Music."

Why is he so cold…? Jimin thought, struggling to keep up his cheerful demeanor.

Soon after, Hana, their other teammate, arrived, and they began their discussion. Yoongi barely spoke, only nodding or giving short responses when asked for his opinion. Despite that, Jimin couldn't help but steal glances at him throughout the meeting.

When their discussion ended, Jimin finally gathered the courage to speak again. "Yoongi hyung, your piano playing the other day… in the practice room… it was amazing. I heard it."

Yoongi furrowed his brows slightly, looking a bit surprised. "You were there?"

"Uh, yeah. I mean… I was just passing by," Jimin quickly explained, his cheeks growing warm.

Yoongi studied him for a moment before giving a small nod. "Thanks."

Though his response was short, Jimin's heart raced. It was a small step, but enough to make him feel like he was getting just a little bit closer to Yoongi.

As he walked home with Jungkook, he couldn't hide the small smile on his lips.

"Hyung, looks like you made some progress," Jungkook teased.

"Little by little," Jimin replied, his eyes shining with determination.

Deep down, he knew that understanding Yoongi wouldn't be easy. But for the first time, he felt like there was hope.
