chapter 22
22 – Unexpected Encounter (2)
‘Because this kind of magic is also my specialty.’
To be honest, I never thought of myself as being good at combat magic. But for other spells, it’s a little different.
For example, when it comes to interpreting, understanding, developing, and tracing magic, I’m quite confident. I could confidently say that I was better at that field than anyone else in the Mage Tower.
In the first place, I came from first place in the Mage Tower, and the reason I was able to rank first in the Mage Tower was not because of combat magic, but because of other magic.
I was recognized for them at the Mage’s Tower, so I was quite confident considering that I achieved unprecedented results and proudly graduated from the Mage’s Tower.
‘Well, those magics are completely useless in battle…’
But actually, I don’t know if this will be something to brag about. I was hoping for a wizard who would fight, not a wizard who would kill and research in the Mage Tower.
When I thought of my magic as combat magic, it wasn’t like that if my magic was great.
Because combat magic and research magic differ in how they are used from the structure, it was difficult for me to be active even if I showed genius in research.
For that reason, I entered the warrior party and worked even harder, but unfortunately I couldn’t show my magic skills that I had hoped for.
‘Compared to other warrior party members, it’s terrible.’
Still, compared to other wizards, my fighting power was quite high, but I couldn’t compare it to the warrior party.
The other warriors’ party members are far more geniuses than I am, and I can’t compete with them.
That’s why, objectively, I wasn’t that great of a person. No matter how much I thought about it, I was just a very ordinary person.
“Wow…! It’s so amazing. Sir Xerath. To know how to use this type of magic is really amazing.”
But why does Saint Arcena look at me with bright eyes? On the way Alkena and I went to defeat the evil pagan wizard, Alkena kept praising me.
Apparently, the backtracking magic she showed me earlier seemed quite amazing to her. That’s why she kept praising her mouth dry all the way here.
He said he had never seen such a thing, and he kept asking if he could do anything other than that.
“Well, it’s not that great… It’s my only specialty.”
I was not at all happy with Arcenna’s praise of her.
I can’t take credit for something like this.
Of course, it was true that it was surprising enough when you saw only magic.
Being able to use backtracking magic in this way was historically unprecedented even in the Magic Tower, so this was certainly something I was proud of.
But, as expected, I wasn’t too happy about being praised just like this.
I am a former warriors party, but I am still a wizard of the warriors party, so I often evaluate myself based on the warriors party.
For me, her compliment was too much. Even if you give a good evaluation to this kind of magic, you can’t give a good evaluation to battle magic. So, I responded appropriately to her words and passed it on.
“This is why the Goddess likes it…! Be humble…”
But it was Alkena who admired my words once again.
It was a bonus that the eyes looking at me became even brighter.
I don’t know why I just said that, but it seems that she scored her more and more.
‘What is this again?’
But I couldn’t understand. Alkena’s reaction didn’t make sense either, and she didn’t understand the goddess either.
A transcendent being like a goddess likes me? For some reason, the more I talk to her, the more confused I feel.
‘Let’s just find a wizard as usual.’
In the midst of this chaos, one thing was certain: the conversation wouldn’t work anyway.
So I just decided to do my job. I continued walking down the street, ignoring her saintess.
Now I had to move to find him, the warlock who was clearly trying to attack me.

‘I knew it was great, but…’
Actually, from Saint Alkena’s point of view, she knew that Xerath was amazing because she had already experienced it.
The drop of a meteorite from the sky and the battle with himself were enough for him to know the value of a mage named Xerath in the process.
He was, in fact, a very, very good wizard.
‘It’s much more amazing than I thought.’
But she couldn’t help but feel that even such an evaluation was harsh. The Xerath he saw now had more value than that. He had been overestimating him before, but now he was overestimating him even more.
Retracing the magic that Xerath showed you just now, it’s not an easy task to trace back the magic with such a small reverberation of magic. That was not a real stunt, but a technique close to divine.
Even if you think you can learn battle magic somehow, you can’t learn how to use magic like that. It was the realm of genius.
You might think that’s really ridiculous.
How absurd it is that Xerath might be on par with the Mage Tower in non-combat areas. No he might be more than that.
It shows how absurd it is to compare a single wizard with the entire Mage Tower.
[Now you know, right? Alkena. He is a great person.]
“Yes, definitely.”
That’s why I’m more sympathetic to what the goddess said.
She was a goddess who kept saying that Xerath was wonderful. I couldn’t understand her words at first, but now I feel like I know why she said that.
He was really great in terms of ability, and that ability was incomparable to anyone else.
If you look at the overall ability, it’s on the same level as the hero…? No, I dared to rate it as more than that.
He wasn’t chosen like a hero, but he’s on the same level as a hero. The fact that he can be compared to a hero shows how much of a monster he is.
[You are so amazing, but you are humble and know how to show kindness to people.]
“It’s really great. He’s definitely someone the Goddess favors.”
In addition, his personality was excellent. She really liked Xerath because she was a saint who served the goddess and always acted with the goal of being moral.
A man who was strong, yet kind, and not arrogant. Such a man was very likable to her, and she was enough to be favored by her great existence as a goddess.
He was really, really, really great when you think about it.
[Yes. Alkena. So you know what to do?]
“Yeah…! It’s breeding. It’s breeding his babies.”
So there’s no reason to doubt the goddess’ words.
Originally, the saintess, who was united by her fanatical faith in the goddess, had no doubts about the goddess’ evaluation of Xerath.
She was Arkena who had been told by the goddess to carry the baby of Xerath. She didn’t originally doubt the goddess’ words, but she was even more convinced.
Doing what her goddess tells her to do is what she can do for herself and for the world.
Arkena clasped her hands together, resolving to fulfill her goddess’ words.
[As expected, Alkena. This is why I like Alkena very much.]
The Goddess also smiled happily when she saw Alkena like that.
In fact, a man named Jeras was a man her goddess really liked.
A strong and kind person, sometimes showing an overly naive side, but he was always a man who thought of his comrades and knew how to do good.
How could you not like such a man as a goddess? He couldn’t help but like it.
As a goddess who likes a man named Xerath, and as a fan who watches his progress, she is a goddess who sincerely wishes him well.
“Yes. I will repay the expectations of the Goddess. I don’t know when it will be, but I will definitely bear his excellent genes.”
[Okay. Alkena…! That’s it.]
That’s why the goddess thought of giving Xerath her saintess.
It was the best thing for her to give the man she liked the most her saintess, whom she cherished.
It seemed that the saintess also liked her. Although the goddess and the saint have a relationship in which one is respected and the other is loyal, in essence, the two have the same inclination. Both of them were good people and pursued goodness, so their ideal types were bound to be the same.
[I’ll help you wholeheartedly…! Cheer up. Alkena.]
Alkena and the goddess were preparing various plans once this was over.
