My Blood Legacy: Reincarnated as a Vampire

Chapter 519: EXTRA - The Tale of the Nine Tails

The mist drifted through the tall branches of the Fairy Forest, winding between shimmering leaves and flowers that swayed to the sound of invisible chimes. It was a place where time seemed to stop, where each breath carried the scent of enchanted dew and ancient magic. No mortal dared step there. Few immortals would be welcomed.

Titania hovered a few inches above the ground, her bare feet never touching the sacred grass. Her gown billowed like moonlight mist, and her red hair glowed, even beneath the eternal canopy of trees.

She was searching for a mischievous fox who had seemingly vanished years ago, sometime after Dante rose to power as an Overlord — someone capable of ruling the world without lifting a finger. Or rather, someone so strong he didn't need to be challenged. And, well… truth be told, he hadn't done much beyond managing his Infernal Empire and his Human Empire, Albion.

"Akemi..." she whispered reverently, the name echoing through the leaves as if the forest itself regulated the sound. "How difficult it is to find someone like you." Titania sighed, still certain she was on the right path, no matter how long it took.

Akemi — former professor of Spiritual Arts in Kryoris. A spiritual guardian, master of the ethereal paths, and above all, the only Nine-Tailed Fox in the world. Titania knew Akemi would not be easily found. She lived between veils, like a dream fading at dawn. Even more so now that she had become a mother.

But Titania was persistent — and today, more than ever, she needed answers.

The path led her to a small crystal-clear lake, where the reflection of the trees twisted unnaturally. Musical butterflies floated near the surface, and the temperature dipped slightly. That's when she felt it.

The presence.

Ancient. Calm. Immeasurably powerful.

"Hunting me, or simply lost, oh Queen of Flowers?" said a velvety voice, filled with charm and irony.

From the bushes ahead, a figure emerged.

Akemi.

Tall. Elegant. Skin pale as snow and hair black as midnight, cascading down her back in an endless fall of silk. Her golden eyes sparkled with wisdom and mischief. Nine tails, flaming in hues of orange and pink, danced behind her like veils in constant motion.

She wore a fine kimono, loose around her shoulders, adorned with embroidered cherry blossom branches and golden-threaded kitsune spirits. She was beautiful. Intimidating. Unreal.

Titania crossed her arms and looked directly into her eyes. "You could've shown up sooner, you know? I've been looking for you for days," she said.

"My presence is in high demand, dear fairy," Akemi replied with a smirk, waving a hand to clear the mist — revealing a temple hidden in plain sight.

"Come, then. What is it you desire?" she said, guiding the Fairy Queen toward the temple.

Titania entered with light steps, but her eyes were sharp. The structure seemed to have emerged from nowhere, sculpted between ancient tree roots and stones covered in shimmering moss. Spiritual lanterns floated along the corridors, casting a soft glow in shades of amber and lilac. It was impossible to tell whether the temple had existed for millennia or had been willed into being by Akemi herself — like everything around her.

The fox walked ahead with the elegance of someone who knew she was adored. Every movement was deliberate, fluid, almost hypnotic.

"So, tell me, Titania…" Akemi said without turning. "What brings the Queen of the Fae to my den, forgotten by gods and demons alike?"

Titania glanced around before replying. Statues of ancient foxes with mystical inscriptions lined the corners of the hall. One of them blinked. Literally.

"Don't provoke me. I came in the name of Harmony... and for the sanity of a certain rebellious spirit."

Akemi chuckled, settling herself onto an embroidered cushion, her tails arranging themselves behind her like a throne of their own. "Kryoris."

"Yes," Titania sat across from her, crossing her legs. "We were hoping you might return to teaching — if it's not too much trouble…"

"Oh? Return, is it? Are you going to ban another one of my students from entering the Spirit Realm?" Akemi rested her chin on her hand, eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Y-you know why I did that…" Titania muttered, a hint of shame coloring her voice.

In the past, she had banished the man who would later become a Dragon God — and even now, she had never properly apologized for punishing him on behalf of his mother. Her hatred for Valentina Scarlet had been so intense that she let it bleed into her treatment of the woman's youngest son. Back then, Dante Scarlet had been just another soul — vulnerable, normal. Banning him from the Spirit Realm had created waves of trouble for her, her father, and all those around them.

"I won't… do anything like that again," Titania said more softly, as if even the temple walls might judge her words.

For a moment, Akemi said nothing. She watched the flames of the floating lanterns, idly stroking one of her tails, deep in thought.

"You know," she began, "ever since I became a mother… time feels different. My daughter is adorable, loud, and has already tried to eat half the spiritual library. But she taught me to see the world differently. I used to look at the universe like an arcane equation… now, sometimes, it just feels like… a lovely mess."

Titania smiled faintly. "And that's why we need you. Because even when you see the chaos… you still see the beauty."

Akemi stood with a theatrical sigh, stretching her arms with the lazy grace of a cat. Her tails shimmered and rippled around her like they were yawning too.

"I'm sorry, Titania," Akemi said, with a sad but resolute smile. "I can't help you rulers anymore. I've been a counselor, a mentor, even a warrior when necessary. But now… I'm just a mother. And the guardian of a small corner of the world that still dances in peace."

Titania exhaled slowly, her eyes drifting to the edge of her delicate tunic as though the weight of the past still clung to her shoulders. She understood. Deep down, she had always known Akemi might say no. But she had to try.

"You've changed, Akemi. But… I think it's for the better."

Akemi only smiled and poured them both some spiritual tea. The silence that followed wasn't awkward. It was comforting. Full of memories, old mistakes, and growth. By the time her cup was empty, Titania already knew it was time to leave.

She stood, straightened her enchanted skirt, and gave a slight bow.

"Thank you for receiving me… even as a noisy intruder."

"You've always been noisy, my little blossom," Akemi said with a laugh. "But your sincerity is still as charming as ever."

Titania gave the temple one last glance before following the path of glowing stones back into the forest. The mist had thickened again, but now it felt gentler — as if the forest accepted her departure more kindly than it had her arrival.

She walked beneath the tall branches, wrapped in the magical symphony of the forest, when—

"You're even more beautiful than I remembered, Titania."

The deep, calm voice sliced through the quiet like silk.

She froze. Literally jumped in place with a soft yelp, and as she spun around on instinct, she tripped on her own floating feet, landing with a very ungraceful — but undeniably cute — plop into the shimmering leaves.

"D-Dante?!"

The tall man, with deep red hair and golden eyes like twin sunset suns, stood there. Arms crossed, a gentle — almost mischievous — smile playing on his lips.

"You should've seen your face," he said with a quiet laugh, his voice rumbling like a thunderstorm in repose.

Titania, completely flushed, covered her face with both hands and mumbled something unintelligible, trying to regain her composure. She was the Queen of the Fairies — one of nature's most respected entities… and she had just fallen like a nervous teenager.

"You shouldn't appear out of nowhere like that! I could've attacked on reflex!"

"I highly doubt that."

Dante crouched down in front of her, extending a hand with a gentle smile. "You wouldn't attack me. You never have."

Hesitant, still red-faced, Titania took his hand. His energy was warm, vibrant, but comforting. As he pulled her to her feet, she felt a wave of familiarity wrap around her — a feeling she hated to admit she liked.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice still shaky.

"Akemi told me you were coming. And I… got curious. It's rare for you to leave your gardens for so long."

Titania looked away. "I came to ask for help. Got a no."

Dante smiled, understanding. "Still, you tried. That's what makes you a real leader."

She huffed but smiled too, finally relaxing a bit.

"You're still good with words, even after all these centuries… damned infernal charm."

"Part of the package."

He winked, making her scoff again — though this time, she was genuinely smiling.

For a few seconds, the world seemed to slow down. The leaves drifted gently through the air, and sunlight streamed between the branches like golden curtains. There, between fae and spirits, the Queen of the Forest and the Overlord of the Underworld exchanged silent glances, surrounded by rare peace.

"Want to come back with me?" Dante asked softly.

"Yes," she replied, brushing nonexistent dust from her dress. "Didn't get what I came for… but maybe I gained something better."

He raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What would that be?"

Titania smiled, walking beside him along the glowing path. "An unexpected conversation. And a completely unnecessary scare." She shrugged playfully.

"Well… about your little problem… I know a Dragon who would love to teach."

Dante grinned. "She's ancient, but looks twenty. Could use a place to stay. Been a bit… unhinged ever since I gave her a real body again."

"Oh, good…" Titania murmured. "What's her name?" she asked curiously.

"Talassa. Old but beautiful — trust me," Dante chuckled, and together, they disappeared down the trail, while the forest mist closed behind them like a magical curtain.

Back at the temple, Akemi smiled at the empty air, her daughter running in circles around a spirit mirror, trying to catch a ghostly butterfly.

"They've grown so much… and yet they're still the same," she whispered, before turning to the little girl.

"Your father came by, but he'll be back later, so wait patiently, Ina," Akemi said, watching her daughter.

"Wait—Papa was here?! When?!!" the child shouted, leaping onto her mother.

"Well…" Akemi started, but then paused.

'If he knew I stole a bit of his essence to make this little one… how would Dante react?

Then again, he was the one who suggested the name. It can't be that bad… right?'
