" Are you sure you are okay?" Ororo once again asked me, her voice reminded me of the matron back at the orphanage.

I loved her, she always made me feel happy when I was sad, she made my day better with just a few words, and her hugs made all my worries and fears disappear in an instant, she was the mother I never had, the only sunshine in a very dark world, but the invasion happened, I still remember it to this day.

Flashback

My hands were covered in blood while I tried to remove the debris from her body, my throat becoming sore because of how much I was screaming, hoping someone would come help me, tears slowly covering just as fast as blood covering the face of the matron.

After another failure, she called my name, if I hadn't been so focused on her safety, I wouldn't have even heard her, but I did, and I will curse myself every day for having done that.

" It's too late for me, Adrian, but please, as a last wish, save yourself." It was incredible, she was in enough pain that would have made any grown man cry, but even covered in blood she rubbed my cheeks with her one free arm, and smiled.

" I- I can't leave you here." Instead, I cried, I was the free one between the two of us, the one that had been thrown away from the falling debris, the one who was supposed to save her, but I couldn't, and so I cried, cried because of my weakness.

" I love you." Were her last words, she pushed me away while another debris crushed her skull and covered me with her blood.

I didn't move, I continued looking at her grave for I don't know how long, my body continued becoming weaker while hunger and tiredness ate my body and mind.

By the time they found me, I was a skeleton, my hair was a mess, and most of my body was covered in dry blood, tears had stopped coming out of my eyes after my body couldn't produce any more liquids.

I still remember the words of the ones who saved me.

" He is lucky to have survived."

Yet why don't I feel lucky?

" Adrian?" Ororo called me out, her worry even deeper at my absence of an answer.

" No, I am fine, just a little... out of it."

" Don't worry, we will call in sick for you today at school, you can stay at the mansion."

" Thank you." I nodded at her, a small smile on my face, trying to make her less worried.

She didn't say anything, instead, she left me alone in the room, leaving me space and time to think.

I was protected from any mental status effects, which was both good and bad since now I had no idea how I actually should feel.

I sighed and decided not to waste the rest of my day, most of my friends had already gone to school, so I had a whole day to train, before that though.

Buying the perk, I closed my eyes and started meditating, after it had reached level 10, I could enter a calm state almost instantly.

I had my eyes closed, but the world around me was still visible, a thin cover of blue energy surrounded everything me, it was like night vision, but instead of focusing on the mana on the outside, I looked inside myself, and the blue energy that continued to flow through my body and return to a spot near my chest.

What followed was a long hour of trial and error, I tried to manipulate the mana inside me and outside of me, but the one on the outside completely ignored my will, and the one on the inside instead seemed to hear my words but ignored me.

I continued trying, a small headache making my focus waver, but when I saw it respond to one of my commands my mind sharpened, my will to finally take control over my magical side unwavering in front of the pain caused by the constantly worsening headache.

Until I finally succeeded.

When I finally opened my eyes, a small blue ball of mana slowly spun in my hand.

The ball then started changing shape under my control, taking a much smaller shape, and copying a bullet. I then made it spin and launched it against the opened window of the room, covering the 10 meters in just an instant.

New Skill: Spellcrafting Lv.1 (Int) (Improves your ability in crafting spells and reduces the chances of wasting mana while creating one)

New Spell: Spinning Mana Bullet Lv.1/10 (Spells work differently from skills, levelling them doesn't increase stats growth, instead it impacts the cost and effect of the skill)

Spinning Mana Bullet Lv.1/10

Effect: You can bend your mana to create spinning mana bullets and hit your enemies with them, a basic spell but one that shows growth potential.

Cost: 5 MP x bullet

Limit: You can create (Sk Lv.) bullets

Closing my hand as a sign of victory, I got up from my bed, though the spell had been created, I needed to test out its power, and there was only one place where I could use spells without injuring anyone.

' It's time to use the Danger Room.'
