Mushoku tensei: The renegade heir

Chapter 8: The Royal Academy of Asura part 1

Today I became a water saint mage, I don't know how to describe the feeling honestly, but from what I see, someone managing to reach the saint rank is even something incredible, and it will be even more so if it's at my age.

after Eva named me Saint level officially, I cleared the clouds leaving the grass and everything around us completely wet, I looked behind me and Wii Taa and Melisa looked at me completely astonished

"it was already something that could be expected from the young master" My master said with a smile

"yes, but anyways seeing that I achieved it so soon is still surprising" Melisa said in shock

I simply smiled at this and looked at my teacher Eva who gave me a sign of approval

after that we returned to the mansion, Eva had foreseen that we would get completely wet so we brought two different changes of clothes in the carriage and so we returned to my mansion/my mother was the most excited to receive the news and my father just snorted with satisfaction...

I don't know what's going through my father's head right now but I hope it's pride, after that, Eva went into the mansion, it was time for her to retire and I wanted to say goodbye to her "teacher? Are you retiring so soon?" I murmured as I looked at her

"indeed young master Paul, I have nothing left to teach you so my work as a teacher is over" she murmured with a smile, she was carrying a large suitcase in her hand

my father was kind enough to assign a carriage to my teacher that would take her home.

"I see...thank you very much for all your teachings, teacher, I will always treasure them" I said and bowed to her.

"Haha, no need to thank me kid, I was just doing my job" she said in a sarcastic tone but I could see from her expression that my words touched her.

And as soon as we arrived, Eva emptied her room and that same afternoon she left the mansion again, now forever...

Maybe that will be the last time I see her, but who knows, when I become leader of the Notos I would like to give her a good position...

After that sad farewell with my teacher I returned home to simply sleep.

I had used a lot of my mana just to pass the exam and was somewhat exhausted so I slept like a baby that night.

I woke up shortly after 7am to do my Wii Taa practice, after that followed my politics and history classes with Débora and then I had the afternoon free to do whatever I wanted...

But I didn't like that feeling at all, there were too many things I would like to learn about this world outside of politics, there was one thing clear in my mind.

"I want to be strong" not only politically but physically, I want to be a leader who everyone can admire and trust.

And with all the privileges I've been given, that wouldn't sound so crazy.

But what else could I learn? King and Emperor rank magicians can be counted on the fingers of one hand, and I have not made any progress in advanced rank magic still.

The only thing left was fencing, but my classes with Wii Taa were in the mornings, And if I tried to train more than necessary, my body would suffer the consequences...

But a shadow came to my head... Melissa! She is a sword Saint And she seems nice too...I wouldn't lose anything if I asked my father if she could train me too.

And that's exactly what I did.

Fortunately my father was free when I arrived, since obviously as the leader of our faction he would be quite busy.

...

"...and in short,I want Miss Melisa to train me in the God Sword style, father" I finished declaring with some fear at his response.

I had already spent twenty minutes explaining my reasons to my father and he had remained silent this entire time, which only made me even more anxious.

"I see... it's a difficult proposition you're making me, Paul," my father said as he stared at me. "Melisa is one of the three sword saints we have in this mansion, You ask me to give up her post to train you?"

Now my father was staring me in the eyes waiting for my reaction, I knew he didn't like empty answers, so I knew I had to convince him.

"Yes dad, as I said before, my training with Miss Eva has finished, and the training with Wii Taa is only in the mornings leaving my whole afternoon free, As the future leader of the Notos, I want to spend as much time as I can busy with things that can help me in the future," I muttered.

Oh brother, what a bad answer...

My father just raised an eyebrow at this statement and leaned back on his desk while staring at me.

Then he scratched his chin and closed his eyes, then opened them again to speak:

"Well, I'll tell Melisa to see if you're suitable for the God Sword style...but yes, Paul! I hope all these requests of yours are not in vain!!" My father stated, I flinched slightly but nodded with a smile.

"Thank you very much father! I promise to give my best!" I declared.

"Hmmm! It's the least you could do!" He replied.

After laughing nervously at this answer I left his office and returned to the room I share with Mom to rest for now.

...

Another six months passed since that day, I am now seven years old and today I am leaving for the Royal Asura Academy...

My training with Melisa began a week after the proposal I made to my father.

Melisa turned out to be a very good instructor in fact and her style suited me better as it is simply attacking without thinking, perfect for someone impulsive and not as creative as me.

But it backfired, as when my father saw that I could learn two styles, he went all in and assigned me to a Water God style swordsman named Johan.

He was a man who looked to be in his late 30s or early 40s, he was an advanced rank and was assigned to me after training with Melisa for a week...

Now the days after that were based on sword training until the sunset...

But let's leave that aside! Now that I turned seven, my father enrolled me in the only school in the city, since at this age children begin to study in this world.

There would be a total of seven years of study and I would graduate at 14.

Honestly, this idea didn't seem attractive to me at all, and if you're wondering about my training, at the academy my father got me three advanced-rank teachers, but they would be for days of the week.

(sigh) What a life, huh? It seems that from today the dark side of being a noble begins.

...

I got up early in the morning, Tomorrow is when classes start, but children usually go a day early for the opening ceremonies.

Nobles from all over the continent come here to study at the prestigious academy...

As I live in the city, I would only go on class days and return home, but the majority would stay to live in the academy facilities.

But now is not the time to think about that, now my mission is... to get ready.

"Honey! Have a great day! We'll be waiting for you!" My mother said as she hugged me tightly.

I had already had breakfast and bathed, and now I was ready to go to the academy. I had never been to that place, but my father said that there it would not be necessary to learn too much.

After all, I have more knowledge than most children of my age.

"Y-yes mom! I have to go!" I announced as I twisted in her embrace.

My father just stood next to her and looked at me with his arms crossed.

"Paul, do your best, and show why we Notos are the best!!" He said enthusiastically, looking like he was rooting for his favorite football team.

"Yes father, I will not disappoint you" I said seriously and then I bowed.

"Ugggg...well, I better get back inside" my mother said as she let go of me and walked back into the mansion.

She's been like this for a week now, she's always nauseous, I've tried to use Detox magic on her but it doesn't work...I wouldn't rule out the other option but it's still too early.

"Well, it's time young master, we must go" one of the coachmen said and so I quickly climbed into the carriage and said goodbye to my father.

...

The Asura Royal Academy was about two hours away by carriage and why? Well, this city is built in the shape of a ring surrounding the palace where the king lives.

So to get to the academy we have to go around half of that ring until we get there.

As expected, the academy is in the middle of the noble district, but it is an autonomous institution.

From a distance I could see the academy, it looked like a castle in proportions except for the large towers, which only resembled those of the mansion.

When we were in front, two guards opened the door to reveal a huge green field where hundreds of other carriages were parked.

The other nobles from other places should be arriving already...

One thing to note is that the age to start studies was seven years old but it was not limited there, so you could see nobles of all ages as newcomers.

Some even approaching twenty years old.

After a while the carriage stopped and I quickly went out to admire the building, it was just one of the rooms in this place but it was huge.

It looked like an art gallery with huge pillars up to thirty meters high.

In the distance I could see several nobles gathering in a group, I looked behind me and the carriage that brought me was already leaving, so I only had to hope for the best.

I approached the group and could see that they were being taken on a tour by a middle-aged woman.

"Welcome everyone to the Royal Asura Academy, my name is Minerva CrowFeather, I am an advanced rank healing mage and I will be the teacher of many of you this school year" she declared.

Advanced rank healing mage?!, that interests me.

So without saying more I joined the group since I really needed to know where I was located.

...

I said it before but I will mention it again, this place is huge, Minerva started to tell us about the history of how the school was founded and the subjects we can study here.

And from what I could hear I was able to make a summary of the classes:

Healing magic beginner-advanced level

Learn to make magic circles (not invocatic)

History classes

Politics classes

Math-arithmetic classes

Basic classes (learning to read and write)

Classes to learn the four magical elements at beginner to advanced levels

...My father was right, I had already seen most of this, the only thing that interested me were the classes of healing magic and magic circles.

But I can't just choose that, I'd still have too much free time left in the day, so I had no choice but to choose elemental magic anyway...

I can't say this place is a waste of time, but I'm already ahead of a lot of the knowledge here, but what else can I do?!!

After a couple of hours of touring the academy the day ended and I returned home.

It was a good day I guess...
