Chapter 9: Chapter 9 - Canines Teeths

When Basara realized Moka had pierced his neck with her own teeth, his eyes widened in shock. The sensation of her canines teeths digging into his skin was like two thorns penetrating deeply. It wasn't an unbearable pain, but it was still uncomfortable.

For a moment, he had no reaction. At the same time as he could feel his energy being drained, the way Moka did, it seemed gentle. She clearly meant no harm him. He didn't sense any murderous intent, which made him hesitate and take his time reacting. However, his body soon showed signs of what his mind had already noticed. His knees gave way, and, from one moment to the next, he was on the ground, with Moka practically on top of him.

"Wha... are you doing, Moka-san?" he muttered, but she didn't stop. With a little strength, he then pushed her backwards by the shoulders. "Moka-san!"

She stepped back abruptly at his push. Moka's lips were stained red, and her eyes were wide, blinking several times as her lips trembled slightly.

Basara put his hand to his neck, expecting to find blood, but, to his surprise, there was no blood on his skin. Just an uncomfortable tingling sensation and a persistent chill that seemed rooted to the bite site.

"Basara-kun... I'm sorry! You were so close, and I couldn't resist and..." Moka said, looking at him with regret.

He stood up slowly, his legs still feeling a little shaky, but the discomfort was passing.

"I said I'd accept you for who you are, but that doesn't mean you can do it out of the blue." He spoke with his breathing still irregular. "I... anyone could be frightened by that."

She lowered her head, clutching the rosary to her chest as her shoulders shivered. "I'm sorry... I couldn't control myself. Basara-kun, scaring you was not my intention."

Moka-san was so gentle, cute and graceful, and, at the same time, a supernatural creature. Basara couldn't forget that.

"I've never done that before... I've never drunk a human's blood directly. Only blood bags... never from a real person." When Moka said this, her eyes met his. Once again, Basara saw truth.

"So, why did you do it now?"

"Because... I trust you, Basara-kun. When you said you accepted who I am, I felt I'd finally found someone who wouldn't reject me for who I am. That means you... accepted my love."

Love? Basara's heart leapt inside his chest. What exactly was she saying? Was Moka-san saying that she loved him? They had known each other for what... two hours?

"Moka-san..." Basara tried to think of something after saying her name.

Of course, he cared about her, but he definitely didn't feel the same way as she was saying she did.

"No, I don't want you to call me that anymore." She said before Basara could think too much. "Don't be so formal. We're friends, aren't we? Please just use my first name. No honorifics."

"Moka..."

The word left his lips hesitantly, almost as if he were breaking a sacred rule. In fact, few people in his life had he called by their first name only, and he had probably never called someone by their first name just a few hours after meeting them.

Hearing her name come out of his mouth, Moka looked at him with those big green eyes full of surprise and happiness. Her face lit up as a genuine smile formed on her lips.

"Basara!" She almost jumped for joy, the blush rising to her cheeks.

Her faltering steps gave way to a quick movement, and in the blink of an eye, Moka approached, stretching out her arms as if to embrace him. On instinct, he reached up and took her by the shoulders before she could complete the gesture. His fingers felt the delicacy of her bones beneath her skin and, for a brief second, her expression changed to confusion. Then she blinked, her gaze falling on the slight wound on his neck.

Basara felt bad for stopping her, but it was instinctive. When he released her, she lowered her eyes again, perhaps understanding the situation a little.

"Again, I'm sorry... I really didn't mean to hurt you, Basara. If I could take it back..."

"No, it's okay, I just..." Basara scratched the back of his head, looking away.

"Let's be fair, then. As an apology for biting you on the neck... maybe you should bite me too."

"You want... me to bite your neck?"

She nodded and stepped forward, pushing her long hair away from her right shoulder and exposing the delicate curve of her pale neck. "But not too hard. My skin is thin..." she said, already closing her eyes in anticipation.

For Basara, this seemed strange. He wasn't like her; he wasn't a vampire. Even if the intention was "fair", it didn't seem proportional.

Then something struck him. Since Moka had taken off her shirt because of the heat in the shed, her breasts, covered by a delicate pink bra, were visible to him. Comparing the position, Basara realized that the invasion of privacy he felt when Moka sucked his blood so suddenly was perhaps similar to what it would be like to touch her.

So his hand, almost of its own accord, moved. Before he could rationalize or stop the impulse by some moral lock, he slipped one of his hands under her bra, lightly groping one of her breasts.

Her left breast was a little bigger than his right hand and incredibly soft.

Moka opened her eyes immediately at the touch. Slowly, her gaze lowered to where Basara's hand was touching her, and the blush quickly rose on her face. Her body stiffened with shame.

"Ba-ba-Basara-kun...!" she whispered, clearly embarrassed, as she tried to back away from him.

But with her quick movement backwards, things got out of hand. His hand, still trapped under her bra, made it difficult to pull away, and the result was disastrous. In a matter of moments, they both lost their balance and ended up on the ground, with Moka falling first and Basara on top. The impact wasn't severe, but the scene itself was embarrassing. His knees were next to her hips, with his right hand still on her breast and the other resting on the floor next to her head, while their faces were dangerously close.

Moka's breathing quickened, and Basara froze, not knowing how to react.

Coincidentally, it was at that exact moment that the shed's sliding door creaked open.

"Ah, sorry for the delay, Basara-san, Moka-san. I was told you were under arrest, but it took me a while to find the key and...!" Teacher Kirisu abruptly stopped speaking when she saw the scene before her. "W-HAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!!?"
