Multiversal Manifestation System

Chapter 23: Chapter 23 - Instinct

In his private room, Alexander Nedeir sat comfortably, his usual confident demeanor giving way to a rare expression of shock as he stared at the screen.

His tea sat untouched on the table beside him, forgotten because of what he'd just witnessed.

"That's... Mitsuri Kanroji," he murmured, leaning closer to the screen. His sharp eyes analyzed every detail of the Love Hashira's form, movements, and demeanor.

From the corner of the room, his uncle Ray Nedeir observed quietly, his arms crossed as he watched the fight unfold.

"You recognize her?" Ray asked, his tone calm but probing.

Alexander nodded, his golden hair shimmering faintly under the soft light of the room.

"Yes, she's a character from Demon Slayer. And not just any character - she's one of the Hashira. Rengoku, the one we've been searching for in the virtual world, is also from the same series."

Ray's brows furrowed slightly, his scarred face betraying a flicker of curiosity.

"You're sure of this?"

"Absolutely," Alexander replied firmly. His eyes never left the screen as Mitsuri moved with childlike charm and deadly precision. Her Love Breathing technique sliced through the mutated porcupine, each movement perfectly matching the animated series down to the smallest detail.

He stroked his chin thoughtfully. "But there's something... unsettling about this. She's perfect. Too perfect. Every detail matches the anime exactly. Even the personality. If Wang Zi created her using his Artist class, there should be imperfections, or at least some personal interpretation. But this... it's like she stepped out of the show itself."

Ray's gaze shifted to Wang Zi, who stood calmly in the background, watching the battle unfold.

"Do you think there's a connection between him and this Rengoku fellow?"

Alexander nodded slowly. "It's possible. It can't be a coincidence."

He gestured to the screen. "Look at her. She's flawless. Even her movements - Love Breathing doesn't have large, flashy effects like Flame Breathing, but it's still distinct enough. There's nothing off about it."

Ray grunted, his arms crossing more tightly. "For now, keep an eye on him. Don't act until we know more."

"Don't worry, Uncle. I won't rush in. But... this competition just got a lot more interesting." Alexander turned to face his uncle fully, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

The two men returned their focus to the screen, Mitsuri's glowing blade dancing through the air as the fight raged on.

"GRRRRRHHHH," the mutated porcupine let out a guttural growl, its iron-like quills rattling menacingly. Its beady red eyes locked onto Mitsuri, and its massive claws scraped against the stone floor as it prepared to lunge.

Mitsuri's cheerful demeanor was long gone. Her body bent and twisted gracefully, her bright pink and green hair trailing behind her as she evaded the porcupine's charge with ease.

From the sidelines, Wang Zi's Rinnegan glowed faintly as he observed the fight. His enhanced sight tracked every motion, every minute detail of Mitsuri's movements.

"Her speed is remarkable, all things considered." he muttered under his breath.

"HISS!" the porcupine rattled its body violently, the sound reverberating through the narrow cave. Suddenly, it reared back and fired a barrage of quills, each one hurtling through the air like a black dart.

"Love Breathing, Fifth Form: Swaying Love, Wildclaw!" Mitsuri shouted.

Her blade came alive, spinning in fluid arcs of pink and green. Each quill was met mid-air by the flashing edge of her Nichirin Sword.

SWISH! SWISH!

CLANG!

As the whirlwind of pink and green continued, the quills were sliced into fragments and clattered harmlessly to the ground, Mitsuri's defense looked impenetrable.

The audience outside the labyrinth burst into a roar of approval, their cheers audible even within the cavern.

"She deflected all of them!"

"Such a beautiful ability!"

Even Feifei's stream was in chaos.

"Chat! CHAT! Did you see that?!" Feifei exclaimed, clutching her holographic butterflies for dramatic effect.

"She's literally flawless! It's like watching the anime, but better!" She was basically jumping all around.

"Mitsuri-chan! Fight!"

"She's an angel with a blade!"

"ROAR!" The porcupine screeched in fury, its massive body shaking as it prepared to attack again.

It lunged forward, black ichor dripping from its earlier wounds, its claws tearing through the ground as it charged.

Mitsuri's eyes narrowed, her expression hardening.

She planted her feet firmly, her sword held at the ready. Energy seemed to coil around her as she prepared her strongest attack.

"Love Breathing, Sixth Form: Cat-Legged Winds of Love!" she shouted, her voice filled with power.

"HA!"

With a burst of speed, Mitsuri became a blur, her blade spiraling in rapid, twisting arcs.

WHOOSH! SWISH! SLASH!

The porcupine roared again, but its voice was quickly drowned out by the sound of Mitsuri's sword carving deep, jagged wounds into its hide.

Her final strike was a whirlwind of pink and green light, severing the beast's defenses entirely!

THUD! ,the porcupine collapsed to the ground, its body seemingly lifeless.

The plaza erupted into deafening cheers.

"She did it! That was her strongest move!"

"Did you see how fast she was?!"

Mitsuri landed gracefully behind the fallen porcupine, her pink and green hair flowing as she flicked her sword clean of black ichor.

The beast lay motionless, its massive body full of deep, jagged wounds from her last move. She turned toward Wang Zi, her bright smile breaking through her combat focus.

"I did it!" she said cheerfully, lowering her blade.

But before Wang Zi could respond, the porcupine's body twitched violently. Its crimson eyes flared back to life, glowing brighter than ever as it let out a final, enraged "ROAR!" Its battered form rose shakily to its feet, its mana flaring erratically.

Mitsuri's smile faltered as the beast opened its maw, the glow of concentrated mana pooling rapidly.

"Get back!" Wang Zi shouted, his voice sharp.

ZWHOOM!

A deafening sound echoed in the cave, the porcupine unleashed a beam of concentrated mana, the air rippling violently as the attack streaked toward Mitsuri.

Caught off-guard, Mitsuri froze, her eyes wide as the attack closed in.

In an instant, Wang Zi moved with blinding speed, his bulk vanishing in a blur as he flashed in front of Mitsuri. His hand shot out, fingers splayed, as the Rinnegan in his eyes showed itself to the world.

"Gakidō." he commanded, his voice barely audible.

VWOOMMM!

The beam of mana collided with his outstretched palm, only to swirl and disappear into his hand, absorbed entirely by the Rinnegan. The ground beneath him trembled from the residual force, but Wang Zi remained unmoved.

Mitsuri, still stunned, stared at Wang Zi's back, her blade trembling in her hand. "You..." she whispered, her voice soft.

Before she could say anything more, her form shimmered and began to fade, her manifestation time ending. Her wide eyes were fixed on Wang Zi as she disappeared completely, barely managing to catch a glimpse of the Rinnegan glowing eerily before fully disappearing.

"Phew. I fucked up. Hope not many noticed the Rinnegan..." Wang Zi was looking at his hand in thought.

"At least I found something out. That absorbed mana can be used by me, and the Rinnegan seems a little bit stronger. A new way to strengthen it huh? Very good." He smiled.

While he was thinking to himself, his little assistant Hua'er appeared, her tiny form glowing with concern.

"Master! Why did you do that?" she asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.

"She's just a manifestation, not the real Mitsuri! Why would you risk exposing the Rinnegan for her?"

Wang Zi lowered his hand, his Rinnegan vanishing as he looked at the spot where Mitsuri had stood. His voice was quiet but firm.

"It was instinct," he said simply.

"She might not be real, but it still doesn't sit right with me. I wouldn't want the characters from my works to die - even if they're just projections."

Hua'er tilted her head, her tiny wings fluttering. "You're strange, master," she said softly, though her tone carried a hint of admiration.

The crowd outside was stunned into silence for a moment before erupting into a cacophony of voices.

"He absorbed a mana beam? How did he do that?"

"What kind of Artist class can summon that perfectly and then do... that?"

"Did you see his eyes? That glow - what was that?"

Feifei's stream was in chaos.

"What just happened?!" Feifei yelled, her hands gripping the edge of her desk.

"He moved so fast! Did you see that? And the way he absorbed that attack? What is going on with that fatty?!"

Her chat was also in disbelief.

"That wasn't normal. There's no way that's just an Artist class!"

"His eyes glowed purple! Is it a hidden ability?! A talent?!"

In the plaza, Principal Anton Wanderer tugged furiously at his beard, his brow furrowed in deep thought.

"Absorbing a mana attack like that... And with a movement speed far beyond what his size suggests. This boy is hiding something."

Principal Gregory Solis of Lumina Nova Academy folded his arms, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.

"Interesting. Very interesting."

Meanwhile, in the observation room of the Awakener Academies, the silhouettes of the representatives leaned forward, their voices hushed but charged with curiosity.

"Did you see that? He absorbed a mana beam with his bare hand."

"Not just that. His speed was unnatural. He's far more than what he seems."

"Could this be a new variation of the Artist class? Or something else entirely?"

Lulu's silhouette shifted, her voice barely a whisper, "How interesting, to think such a backwater place would have such an entertaining competition..."

Wang Zi exhaled slowly, his hand still tingling from the absorbed mana. He straightened himself, brushing the dust off his clothes as he prepared to move on. He already wasted enough time watching Mitsuri, and the next stage was already waiting for him.

While he was rushing to the next stage, he decided to check if summoning Mitsuri had been worth it.

"System, status." He ordered.

Wang Zi raised an eyebrow, noting the increases in SP, and his Intelligence and Wisdom stats.

"Interesting," he muttered. "That beam I absorbed... it must've done something. Or maybe..." His thoughts trailed off, considering the possibility of another factor.

He dismissed the screen and turned his focus back to the chamber. "Using the Preta Path does indeed strengthen these eyes. Very good, looks like I'll be looking for these guys in real life then."

"If I summon one more hashira... I'd probably make to 100M points. I don't believe that's not enough to fully unlock my Rinnegan. But I won't stop pumping points into it, no, not at all, hehehe."

Wang Zi always thought that the power of the Rinnegan in the anime had left much to explore. He didn't believe that what it showed was the limit of these eyes. No, he could feel it.

He would take the Rinnegan to the next level. Using SP and his own comprehension, he was determined to dig out the full potential of these eyes. He wanted to break the limits of what even the Otsutsuki themselves knew about the Rinnegan.

Wang Zi had a hand over his eyes while rushing for the next stage, "I know you can do more. Eyes with the power over gravity can't only be that powerful. I'll develop them to the maximum, and then go beyond that... I'll make the Rinnegan so powerful that even if the Otsutsuki felt its power they'd piss their pants in fear!" He thought to himself as a creepy grin spread over his face.

While Wang Zi was thinking about how to use his SP, he made it to the cave for the second stage.

What he didn't know however, was that in a place very, very far away...

Was a young pink and green haired girl, who seemed to have just woken up from a dream, sitting on the edge of bed.

It was a very beautiful girl, with even more beautiful green eyes. She was just staring ahead, apparently thinking about something.

"What a strange dream... Why does it feel like I'm about to forget everything about it?" The girl, Mitsuri Kanroji, asked tilted her head and asked herself, her finger resting on the corner of her mouth.

"Those strange purple eyes... and that fatty... how strange!" The girl tried hard to remember the dream, but it seemed to be fading away, like the snow in spring.

Only one thing seemed to never fade away, a pair of strange purple eyes looking at her, seemingly concerned for her wellbeing despite looking very eerie.

"Mitsuri! Are you up? Ubuyashiki-san is calling us!" A voice sounded from the outside.

"Oh! Yes, I'm coming right away Shinobu!" Mitsuri answered, quickly dressing herself and setting out to meet her friend.

This little episode would never be known to Wang Zi but... It seems the system might not have been entirely honest with him.
