Mr Gu s First Doting Marriage

Chapter 567 - 568: Intentionally Making Things Difficult

Chapter 567: Chapter 568: Intentionally Making Things Difficult

“My mom was merely concerned about maintaining appearances. You have no idea what this girl has done to my mom in the past. She’s a ruthless character – otherwise, why do you think my mom, as the rightful wife, didn’t receive even a share of the company or family assets after my dad’s death? It was all cunningly taken away by this sister of mine. Those years, due to her, my mom has had to suffer so much.”

Han Cheng frowned, “Miss Xia Er, I see.”

Xia Weiwei arched her eyebrows and walked away triumphantly.

Xia Yangyang waited in the living room for quite a while.

The butler came over: “Miss Xia, your room is ready. Please follow me.”

Xia Yangyang rose to her feet, following the butler upstairs.

Finally, the butler led her to an attic at the top floor.

As soon as the door was opened, a cloud of dust flew into her face.

This attic was nothing like a guest room – it was empty save for a bed, and the ceiling sloped directly down at an awkward angle, that one might not even be able to stand up straight on the bed.

Amongst the hundreds of rooms in the large Xi Villa, was the attic the only room they could find for her?

The butler seemed to sense Xia Yangyang’s confusion.

He gave her an apologetic smile: “I am sorry, Miss Xia, you emphasized wanting a hard bed, and this is the only room in the entire villa with a hard bed. It’s too late to move beds today, please temporarily lodge here and I will make different arrangements tomorrow.”

Xia Yangyang knew what was going on.

The hard bed was no more than an excuse.

It had to be either Liu Ruyan or Xia Weiwei’s secret instructions to make her stay uncomfortable.

But Xia Yangyang didn’t care too much about it.

Where she stayed wasn’t important, as long as she had a place to stay.

Xia Yangyang smiled and said, “This attic room is quite good, I will stay here. Thank you, Butler Han.”

To his surprise, Han Cheng found the young lady to be quite calm.

“Shout out if you need anything, Miss.”

Having said that, Han Cheng left.

Xia Yangyang stepped in.

Clearly, this area was unused for many years, and used to be a storeroom.

The air was stagnant.

Xia Yangyang saw a window in the room and quickly opened it.

After a while, the air in the room began to clear a bit.

Though it was an attic room, it had a separate bathroom, thankfully.

Xia Yangyang tidied up her luggage, straightened up the room a bit, and then took a bath in the bathroom.

The bed sheets and quilt were freshly changed.

It was rather comfortable to lie down.

Xia Yangyang began to strategize her plans in her mind.

She couldn’t stay here for long.

Neither Liu Ruyan nor Xia Weiwei would allow her a permanent stay.

She must find where the remittance slip might be hidden.

Xia Yangyang always suspected such an important item would be in Liu Ruyan’s safe box, as in the past at the Xia Family, Liu Ruyan had her own safe for her jewelry.

Currently, she had no leads.

She had to use the most basic method.

She needed to find Liu Ruyan’s safe, then check whether the old remittance slip was there.

Regardless, that was tomorrow’s task.

Xia Yangyang suddenly felt exhausted and fell asleep not long after lying down.

However, her sleep was far from peaceful.

It was already winter at the end of November.

There was no heating in the room.

And the quilt was very thin.

Xia Yangyang was woken up several times due to the cold.

She wanted to get another quilt, but the junior maid she ran into said the butler took care of such matters and she couldn’t find him at the moment.

There was no choice.

Xia Yangyang could only take out the down jacket from her suitcase and lay it over the quilt, managing to sleep somewhat comfortably.
