Kendrick's eyes widened in surprise at Zephyrine's question. Does she have an interest in knowing who her husband has dated before? If she knew, she would get jealous for sure. Kendrick was sure that she said that out of shock at the amount of clothes she saw. But what she didn't know was that he was prepared for her coming already.

Instead of responding, he swiftly picked a lavender dress from the rack and handed it to her, her might might have become messy. "Wear this," he said, his voice firm but gentle.

Zephyrine caught the dress, her cheeks flushing. She uttered that question absentminded. Kendrick turned to leave sensing her awkwardness. He wondered when she would finally get used to this married life. Or maybe she was just pretending so that she wouldn't seem eager.

"Thank you," she called out her voice barely above a whisper. Was she shy to the extent of saying thank you out loud? Kendrick knew that there was something more to what the eyes saw. And he was still curious to find out what she meant earlier in the morning.

She might have thought he was asleep, but he heard her and he promised to stay with her only on one condition.

After a while, he returned to get dressed, then he went into the kitchen. Kendrick expertly prepared breakfast. The aroma of scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and freshly brewed coffee filled the air. Zephyrine's stomach grumbled in anticipation.

As they sat down to eat, Zephyrine took her first bite and closed her eyes, savoring the flavors. She still wasn't used to that amazing home-cooked food from her husband. It seems like she would never have to worry about food.

"Wow, you're such an amazing cook!" She exclaimed. "I wish to learn from you, will you teach me?" She asked seriously, but the next moment, she started laughing.

Their breakfast was filled with comfortable silence.

After breakfast, it was time to leave for the Cloutier Corporation. Before they arrived at the Cloutier Corporation, Zephyrine kept asking Kendrick whether she looked nice enough to appear at the company.

But Kendrick trusted his fashion taste, so he assured her confidently. He would make his wife the trendsetter. He wants everyone to take his wife seriously like him, once she becomes the well-known president of the Huang Corporation.

Their luxurious car pulled up to Cloutier Corporation headquarters. Media personnel swarmed the entrance eager to capture the announcement of the new president.

Zephyrine knew without a doubt that she would be the current top search on social media. She could imagine all the hashtags.

Those were amazing titles for the situation at hand. But Zephyrine does not care about whatever anyone has to say about her. All that matters is her happiness and she would be happy once she avenges her mother's death and herself.

She had loads of plans in her head to make Nathaniel and her scopic step-sister pay. And today was the perfect day she had been waiting for. While she would be announced as the new president of Cloutier Corporation, Nathaniel will be in a pretty shitty mess.

Zephyrine's heart pounded as she stepped out of the car in her heels. Kendrick was by her side. Camera flashes light up the scene.

Upon arrival, Kendrick's gaze scanned the crowd ensuring Zephyrine's safety. As they stepped out of the car, he offered his arm and she took it without hesitation.

Zephyrine walked past the media with the help of the bodyguard who protected her and made sure that they didn't come in contact with each other. Zephyrine ambled Kendrick to the conference room. Where everyone in the Husng family including the company executives with the reporters waiting for her to arrive.

The scene was like a repetitive thing, just to make an entrance, the CEO comes late or celebrant of the day.

Zephyrine didn't miss the awful glare directed at her. But she couldn't care less, they would always be haters.

When Sapphire and Eleanor directed their venomous glances at Zephyrine, Kendrick's jaw clenched. He resisted the urge to intervene, knowing Zephyrine could handle herself.

People got excited when they saw the enigmatic president of Desjardins's group of companies arrive at the scene with her alleged wife. They haven't confirmed the news yet, but when they saw them together, what other confirmation do they need?

They were dumbstruck; the reporters present knew that their chance had come.

Grandpa Cloutier took the stage. He had been waiting to reveal the news to everyone but he couldn't do it without her presence. Now that she was there, it was better to do it before he killed himself with excitement.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce our new president, Huang Chao-Xing."

The room erupted in applause as Zephyrine stepped forward, confidence radiating from her.

Kendrick watched with pride, his eyes never leaving her. She was finally his, he never thought that they would get married in a flash. Zephyrine was a person he had always admired. She was young and ambitious, like him. He had his eyes on her, but he never thought of making her his, so soon. When he saw her, he just thought of helping her but unexpectedly, she became his.

"President Cloutier, how do you feel about taking over the company that you have been managing all your life?" A reporter shouted.

Zephyrine smiled confidently, she was ready for whatever question they had. She knew their intentions today would be to throw shades at her and wrap unnecessary crime around her legs.

"I'm honored to lead this esteemed corporation," Zephyrine's eyes darted to Sapphire and her daughter for a minute but it went back to the reporter who asked the question.

Grandpa Cloutier felt proud of his granddaughter. He had always admired Zephyrine, but when he learned of her relationship with Nathaniel,, he was dissatisfied. Though he knew that Nathaniel was related to his good friend Kendrick, he wasn't satisfied, because he wasn't presentable enough to stand between his granddaughter.

But when he suddenly saw the news that she got married to someone worth more than their family, his heart was filled with long-lost joy. He looked younger and his health improved drastically.

A reporter raised her hand. "President Cloutier, how do you plan to address the company's current challenges?"

Zephyrine replied, "We will focus on innovation and prioritize employee welfare."

"What's your stance on the recent allegation with Nathaniel?" Another reporter asked.

Zephyrine's expression turned icy and likewise Kendrick noticed the change in her mood. What's her past with Nathaniel that made her mood change like that?

Kendrick noticed that she was trying hard to find the right word. Zephyrine knew that a single wrong word could spoil everything that she planned so it was better to keep quiet.

But when the noise from the media increased, she saw a shadow beside her and the shadow swallowed her shadow. Zephyrine turned and saw that her husband had turned to help her.

"I'm sure that's not your business," he said, his eyes scanning the room. "My wife's past is private and I won't have her subjected to damaging questioning. It's my duty as her husband to protect her."

With that, the conference concluded and none of the reporters was daring enough to come to Zephyrine to ask her questions.
