Mountain, I Bought It – Living in Another World Isn’t Bad Either

Chapter 13

Chapter 13. Solo Camping in Another World (2)

To cut to the chase, I made it back.

I went through the tunnel normally, reached the management cabin, and was able to buy firewood. I even borrowed a hatchet. In fact, they said they’d appreciate it if I proactively helped with thinning the forest.

…Yeah, no, thinning the forest is way beyond me.

Anyway, it seems like cutting trees is allowed, and animals rarely come close. In fact, making noise seems to keep them away. Now that I think about it, I’ve heard people use bells to ward off bears.

And I managed to return to the campsite too. The toilet and bath were still there.

“Is this really another world?”

I looked around again, but I didn’t see any particularly unusual trees or plants. Honestly, if someone told me this was just a mountain near the campsite, I’d believe it.

“…Well, for now, I guess I’ll set up the tent. And I need to unload my stuff too.”

This time, I bought a new tent. A proper solo one. And compared to the old one, it’s way easier to set up.

I decided to pitch the tent near the bathhouse, in the shade where there’s no direct sunlight. I cleared away some grass and rocks. Since I’d already practiced setting it up in my room, it was done in no time.

I laid out a sleeping bag, a large blanket, and a foldable leisure mat with bumps, so the tent was perfectly prepared.

As for the cooler box, I didn’t pack a week’s worth of food. Honestly, with the weather getting warmer, it probably wouldn’t last more than two or three days anyway. Most of the food I brought was stuff I had stored in my room (mostly instant ramen and retort pouches). I figured I could always go to a roadside station or a big supermarket to stock up if needed.

“It’s a bit far from here… Maybe I’ll go shopping tomorrow.”

It feels like it’ll take the whole day, but there’s no helping it. I might need to add more ice packs then too.

I set the cooler box down next to the tent. I thought about unloading the large backpack and putting it inside the tent, but… no way, if I put that in, I won’t have room to sleep.

“Ah, I messed up. Maybe I should’ve set up a tarp or something instead.”

Actually, it might’ve been safer to just leave the car as a storage spot.

I unloaded the firewood I bought at the management cabin and set up the fire pit. A mini table and a foldable chair. And an LED lantern. I laid out all my usual camping gear.

“I guess it’s time for mosquito repellent incense too.”

I did bring insect repellent spray, but I’d like to believe there aren’t any mosquitoes yet. Wait, do mosquitoes even exist in another world?

I placed the mosquito repellent incense holder on the mini table. It’s the type you can hang from your waist, but for now, I’ll leave it here.

By the time the scent of the incense started wafting around, I had finished unloading most of my stuff.

“Alright, it’s about time to start the campfire… Today, I’m going to try using a fire starter!”

I went to grab the fire starter kit from the backpack I left in the car.
