Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Exemplary (Versailles) Couple
Upon receiving orders, the four machines—the Gundam Exia, the Gundam Dynames, the Gundam Kyrios, and the Gundam Virtue—immediately made their way toward Black Wei, assisting Sergei in stabilizing the gravity chambers in orbit. However, their attention was quickly diverted to Black Wei. Before their arrival, the sole machine had been responsible for maintaining the output power to stabilize the gravity chambers in five separate regions, a feat that left them in awe.
"Hey, is this the new model from the Human Reform League? The output power is terrifying!"
"It has the Human Reform League's paint scheme, but the design is completely different from the Iron Man style. Is this a completely new series? It's way cooler than Iron Man."
"Is this a special unit or a prototype?"
"Looks like we need to re-investigate the Human Reform League's internal intelligence."
"Enough chatting, we're on a mission right now." Yang Hui, though pleased by the praise for his machine, reminded them, "Don't get distracted and forget about the task at hand."
The four quickly quieted down, secretly recording Black Wei's appearance and data while broadcasting on the public frequency inside the gravity chamber, instructing the trapped people to move toward the central three regions.
Once they confirmed that both outer regions were clear and sealed the chambers, Yang Hui gave the order to Shatian: "Setsuna, cut the connection between the regions with the GN Sword."
"Understood."
The GN Sword ejected, and GN particles began to adhere to its blade. The finely vibrating GN Sword sliced through the connection as easily as cutting tofu. The two gravity chambers separated, and the four Gundams, along with Black Wei, immediately felt a reduction in pressure.
"Good. Now, increase the power to maximum and push the gravity chambers back into position! Shatian and I will handle the other two regions. Though there's no one there, we can't let them fall to Earth."
"Understood." X5
The solar furnaces began to operate at full power, and the concentration of green light particles in the area grew higher, infusing the silent, cruel expanse of space with vibrant life, painting a picture of salvation.
Thanks to their combined efforts, the rescue operation was quickly completed, and the Human Reform League's rescue teams were nearing. Yang Hui immediately issued the retreat order.
After all, they were too close to the Human Reform League's space-based orbital station, and there were refugees awaiting rescue. This wasn't a time for battle.
Watching the Gundams shrink in the distance, Sergei smiled slightly. "That brat... runs pretty fast."
It had been a while since they had last met, and Sergei was eager to chat with Yang Hui—about Black Wei, this monstrous machine. But he only muttered a complaint without giving it much thought. After all, this wasn't the right time for a conversation.
"Colonel!"
"Proceed with the rescue immediately!"
"But the Gundams..."
"Rescue comes first. Don't worry about them."
"Understood!"
---
After quickly leaving the Human Reform League's star domain, the five Gundams returned to the Ptolemy at top speed. Meanwhile, the Secret Angel, due to its specialized components and the need for improvements to its GN bits, had to return to Ptolemy for maintenance.
Before that, however, the team insisted that Yang Hui stay behind to analyze the Human Reform League's new MS.
"We need to contact Wang Liumei and immediately begin investigating the Human Reform League's new MS. Based on the data we've gathered so far, its performance is not inferior to the Gundams by much. This could be a significant threat to future missions," Tieria spoke first.
"The main question is, what exactly is this machine? A mass-production model, a special unit, or a prototype?"
"It can't be a mass-production model, but it's likely to be developed into one."
"Don't you think... this machine's design looks a lot like the Gundams?"
"Huh?"
Aleluyah hadn't brought it up, but now that it was mentioned, everyone really did see the resemblance. Aside from the fact that its head wasn't two eyes but more like a pair of sunglasses, it was almost identical to a Gundam.
"Could there be a traitor within the organization?" Tieria immediately jumped to this conclusion.
"Could it really? It seems plausible, doesn't it? The Gundam was showcased in front of the world already, and it's way more handsome than any other MS. It's normal for them to imitate the design, right?" Christina said, feeling that Tieria was being overly sensitive. If the Celestial Being organization really had a traitor, wouldn't their situation be far too dangerous?
"No, based on VEDA's analysis and comparison, this new MS's appearance and frame are 90% similar to the Gundam, with a huge difference from the Iron Man design. The development of this new MS couldn't have started after our debut—it's just too short of a time," Tieria analyzed.
Yang Hui and Huang exchanged glances, shrugging.
"Machine number: MSJ-08, official name: Black Wei."
"Huh?"
Everyone looked at Yang Hui in confusion.
"This is an MS I designed for the Human Reform League before I joined Celestial Being, and its pilot is my brother Sergei Sminov. It's an all-terrain, high-mobility MS—a top-tier unit. I'm also surprised they managed to produce it so quickly," Yang Hui said with a shrug.
"Huh?" The others were left stunned, completely not expecting that answer.
Yang Hui, seemingly unaware of their expressions, tapped a few things on his PAD, projecting his VEDA records—two files.
"Since Black Wei was made by those old men, then this one should be done as well. Machine number: MSJ-07, official name: Ambush."
The group, still somewhat dazed, turned their heads toward the screen, carefully reading the details of Ambush and Black Wei.
"Although I'm not sure how close the actual Ambush and Black Wei are to the ideal data, those old men are really impressive. Ambush is one thing, but I just handed over Black Wei to them a few days ago, right?"
Could you tone down that "look at my awesome child" fatherly expression?
Everyone simultaneously rolled their eyes in their minds and sighed. If they had to face such a formidable opponent, would their missions even go smoothly?
"You should have brought it up sooner, Mr. Myer," Neil complained while scratching his head.
"It wouldn't have made a difference. Who knew they'd manage to build it so quickly? When I first joined Celestial Being, the first test unit of Ambush had just come offline. It's only been this long," Yang Hui shrugged again.
The group facepalmed. They agreed with his point, but could he please stop showing off his smug face? It was starting to feel like they were getting punched in the gut!
"So, what do we do now?" Lyle asked.
"Don't worry, the backup plan is already ready," Huang answered.
"Huh? You knew?" All eyes were now on Huang.
"Yes, I knew from the start."
"Then why didn't we know?"
"Because you're not high-ranking enough," Huang replied, mimicking Yang Hui's shrug and leaning against him.
The group: (-`ェ-╬) Their fists were getting ready to swing!
This Versailles couple is truly unbearable!
Incase you forgot
Yang Hui = Myer
Leesa Sumeragi = Huang
