MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1389: The Arcane Consortium's Response

"…Your Excellency! Your Excellency!"

"Mm?"

Hearing someone frantically knock on his door, the old man glanced behind him for a brief moment before beginning to faintly smile.

After all, he already had a good idea as to why someone was knocking at his room at this hour.

"Come in."

Whoosh!

Returning his gaze back to the vast expanse surrounding him, he sent out a bit of his energy as he leaned on the railing, manipulating his energy in a way that allowed the door to open on its own.

Creak…

Though the man knocking on the door was slightly caught off guard by the fact that no one greeted him the moment the door was opened, it did not take long for him to understand what was going on.

"Your Excellency." With that, he made his way to where the old man was, making sure to keep a fixed distance between them before giving the latter a respectful bow.

"Director Mansha," said the old man as he briefly turned back to look at the man. "I suppose you have urgent news for me to hear?"

"Yes, Your Excellency," replied Mansha, kneeling on the ground as he pondered over how he would phrase his report to the old man before him. "It's about the new Emissary we found at Zetaris Galaxy some time ago."

"Let me guess." At those words, the old man fully shifted his attention towards Mansha as he gave the latter a slight grin. "It's because they angered the concept of Arcane itself, right?"

"That…" Although he had heard before that the old man in front of him was renowned for his ability of foresight, Mansha was still left at a complete loss for words once the report he wanted to share left the former's mouth.

Briefly wondering if there was even any point to his report after that, the man inwardly took in a few deep breaths to regain composure, eventually giving the old man in front of him a firm nod. "Yes, Your Excellency. That's exactly why I've come here."

"According to the information gathered by the assigned reconnaissance team, the Emissary focused most of their time improving their strength for the past couple of months."

"Interpreting the data they've gathered thanks to the devices given to them, although the Emissary's current class rank is at Rank 2, they're able to showcase the ability of an elite Rank 4 class holder for a short period of time."

"Oh?" Hearing those words, the old man raised his eyebrow in interest. "Although it's expected for an Emissary to be able to fight two ranks above their own, it usually takes more than just a couple of months for that to be possible."

"Now, I presume your explanation has something to do with them angering the concept of Arcane itself?" he asked after that, prompting Mansha to go silent for a bit before nodding.

"Though it might not seem like the explanation I gave has anything to do with the report, the reconnaissance team was able to confirm that the cause of the concept's fury has something to do with the Emissary aiming to achieve a higher level of power."

"What did the Emissary do, exactly?" The old man looked back at him with curiosity. "Did he learn a skill? Obtain a piece of equipment he shouldn't have?"

"Neither of them, Your Excellency." Mansha shook his head. "According to what the reconnaissance team has told me, it was due to an elixir."

"An elixir?" The old man was confused. "Although I've heard of some elixirs being capable of that, surely a backwater galaxy like Zetaris wouldn't have access to such a heavenly elixir like that, no?"

"From what the reconnaissance team has told me, the elixir the Emissary has gotten their hands on is purely concocted by a talented alchemist from their galaxy," replied Mansha as the old man continued to listen.

"Though most of the elixir's properties aren't something to write home about, the elixir does have one property that might pique your interest, Your Excellency."

"And that would be…?"

"Forced mana evolution," said Mansha in response.

"…" Expecting the elixir's property to be something else entirely, the old man was taken aback the moment he heard the man's words, briefly looking at him with slightly widened eyes.

"Forced mana evolution…" murmured the old man to himself as he returned his focus back to the vast expanse behind him.

"That's definitely gonna upset the concept, alright."

Letting out a faint sigh as he shook his head once more, the old man stared out at the sight before him for a bit before asking Mansha a question. "What happened to the Emissary after receiving the concept's attention?"

"The specifics are still unknown," answered Mansha after a bit of silence. "However, from what the reconnaissance team has gathered, the Emissary's condition… seems to be improving?"

"…" Becoming silent at those words, the old man closed his eyes for a bit as he gathered the thoughts lingering in his mind.

Then, after letting out a soft exhale, he looked back at Mansha before saying, "Assign another reconnaissance team on the Emissary. Make sure to give them the best equipment the Arcane Consortium has to offer."

"Understood, Your Excellency." Mansha made a mental note of the old man's words. "Anything else?"

"Try and find a way to contact the Emissary without making it obvious," said the old man after a bit of contemplation, causing Mansha to do a double take as he looked at the former with surprise.

Though, with the old man shooing him out of his room after that, the man was forced to keep the questions in his mind to himself for the meantime, deciding to focus on what he was asked to do first as he left the room.

Slam!

Hearing the door close behind him, the old man continued to stare at the dark horizon before him in silence, watching as the stars and galaxies twinkled under his gaze.

"Haah…" Going over the conversation he had with Mansha, as well as the findings he'd obtained through his own methods in his mind, the old man could not help but let out a sigh.

"Arcane…"

"What are you planning to do, exactly?"
