Chapter 6: Herobrine
Herobrine: Kill me? Hahahahahaha. You don't know who I am right? Of course, you do. Every single player and entity knows who I am. So what is it that makes you think you can kill me?
Megumi: I…I will…Don't underestimate me.
Steve: Hey Megumi. How's it going?
As Megumi turns around he sees Steve standing behind him.
Megumi: Steve? What are you doing here?
Steve: They told me you were sent on a mission to retrieve one of Herobrine's Totem. Thought I would come and see how you are doing.
Herobrine: Huh? Who the hell are you?
Steve looks at Player and sees his white glowy eyes.
Steve: Oh. This happened. Who is he?
Megumi: A player that just spawned near the building. He accidentally burned the totem.
Steve: Oh how unfortunate. So is Herobrine inside him?
Megumi: Yes.
Steve: We'd have to kill him then.
Herobrine instantly rushes towards Steve and strikes at him with his sword. He completely misses as he realizes Steve is standing behind him. He attacks behind him but misses again. He continues to attack Steve who effortlessly dodges all his strikes. He attacks again and Steve dodges and kicks him in the face.
Herobrine: (He's fast.)
Steve: I know you're supposed to be strong and all, but my buddy is watching so I'll show off a little if you don't mind.
Herobrine: You act like you can actually beat me.
Steve: Of course. After all, I'm the strongest.
Herobrine: I'll show you your place.
He again rushes at him attacking him faster than before but Steve continues to dodge his attacks.
Megumi: (He is attacking so fast, yet Steve is dodging him. He is amazing.)
As Herobrine misses another hit, Steve takes out his sword and hits Herobrine, knocking him away.
Steve: You're embarrassing yourself. If we weren't in a hurry, Megumi here could have handled you himself.
Herobrine: You. What did you say was your name?
Steve: Already became my fan? Its Steve.
Herobrine: Steve huh? You say you're the strongest? I'll kill you, Steve. And I'll make you suffer. I'll show you your place as you will realize you're nothing special. I will show you true power.
Steve: Sadly, whatever you said won't happen as I have to kill you right here.
Suddenly Player's eyes return from white to normal.
Player: Holy shit. I'm back. I'm back in control.
Steve: Huh?
Player: It's me. I'm Player. I don't know what happened but when I burned that tower I suddenly lost control. My player was moving on its own. Talking on its own. I thought some virus attacked my PC. But my antivirus kicked in and locked it out. I'm back in control now.
Steve: Interesting. So you're in control now?
Player: I think so.
Herobrine: (Hey. What is it that you've done to me?)
Player: Woah. It's talking to me.
Herobrine: (Hey brat. What have you done?)
Player: I did not do anything. You attacked my account and my antivirus locked you out.
Steve: Looks like he can talk to him.
Megumi: What is happening?
Herobrine: (Antivirus?)
Player: Yeah, it's like a program. You're like a virus, right? You attacked my account, so this program is there to protect my pc from virus attacks. That's why you can't take control of my account anymore.
Herobrine: (That's stupid. Give me back the control.)
Player: No way.
Steve: Look kid, we don't know exactly what is happening, but that is why you would have to come with us.
Player: With you? You mean to the Jujutsu Pros?
Steve: Yes.
Player: Let's go.
Steve: Where we will decide how to kill you.
Player: Eh?
Steve: Hurry up Megumi, we need to go.
Megumi: Steve, I know he has Herobrine inside him now and that we need to kill him. But I don't want him to die. Please. Save him.
Steve: Don't worry. I'll see what I can do.
Few minutes later:
Player is in a Redstone trap surrounded by Iron doors and pressure plates. Steve is standing in front of him.
Steve: Which is why, we have decided that we will kill you.
Player: What? That doesn't make any sense. You said you would save me.
Steve: Yes but the higher-ups have decided that it's too dangerous to let you live.
Player: But why?
Steve: Because of this.
He shows Player Herobrine's totem.
Player: Oh. It's that tower I burned.
Steve: Yes. This is Herobrine's Totem. You know who Herobrine is?
Player: No.
Steve: Herobrine is the king of mobs. The god of Nether. He is also known as the strongest entity in Minecraft back in the Notch Era. Back then, around 1000 Minecraft years ago, a player spotted Herobrine and he started experiencing glitches. Soon various players encountered him and we realized that he was not a player nor a mob. It was an entirely different thing. A glitch. A virus, that was created on its own. Inside the game itself. Players realized that he was sentient. But unlike mobs, intelligent. He could talk, but worse, he knew how to attack. He killed as many mobs, villagers, and Players as he could. No one managed to kill it. And his presence created glitches in the game. If he was allowed to live, he could have destroyed the game from within. So the game devs removed him from the game. Banned him. We thought the crisis was averted. Until in the next update, 20 totems spawned in the overworld. Each containing a part of Herobrine's code. The devs tried to remove the totems from the game but couldn't as they realized it was somehow coded inside the very game. Something that can not be removed and is permanent. But a temporary solution was created. They could remove the totems like they removed him, again and again, in every update. So they did that. And in every single update, they removed Herobrine's totems and we saw it in the patch notes: "Removed Herobrine". Until the Jeb Era of Minecraft arrived. The new devs thought of it only as a myth. They thought Herobrine didn't exist. Only a creepypasta, created to increase the game's popularity. They thought of removing Herobrine as a joke. So they continued doing it. Until the current update, where they either forgot to remove him or chose to not continue the joke. Either way, Herobrine was not removed, and as a result, 20 Totems spawned in the overworld. Since then, we have been trying to collect them to make sure they don't get into the wrong hands. Each Totem contains a part of him. Since you burned the totem, 1/20th part of him, or 5% of him is inside you now. While he is still at 5% strength, his existence is a danger to Minecraft. So it's decided that you need to be killed. Or at least that's what the higher-ups want. I think differently though.
Player: Oh?
Steve: The higher-ups are right to be afraid of you. But that was before considering the fact that like a virus, an antivirus system might be able to lock it out. So in the current state, he can be controlled. Now look at this.
He shows Player a pit of lava. He drops the totem inside it.
The totem floats, unharmed. He then places the totem at a distance and fires TNT at it. It doesn't get destroyed.
Steve: As you can see, we tried various methods to destroy it. Even commands. But it doesn't get destroyed. The totem you burned, however, that got destroyed really easily. So it means as a part of Herobrine gets inside a player, the totem becomes useless. It's also right to assume that if the player containing Herobrine is killed, Herobrine himself would also die. So here is the thing. Since you're the only player that contains a part of Herobrine, we have decided to keep your execution on hold. In return, you are to burn all the Totems that we have, to store as much part of Herobrine as we can. When we think we have enough, we will kill you, killing Herobrine with you. For good.
Player: Why don't you have other players with Antivirus also burn totems? It would be better.
Steve: The higher-ups don't think it's wise to try to have Herobrine stored in different players. It's believed each part of Herobrine shares memories. It took you a while to take back control too. If he manages to escape or figure out how to counter different people's antivirus, it could be a problem for us. With you, we will slowly have you burn totems, not one after the other. This way we can slowly let your antivirus adapt to him. And if we feel he is taking over, we will kill you right away. So this is the condition in which you will be allowed to live. Of course, if you would rather end your suffering sooner, you can choose to be killed right now.
Player: What would happen to me if I'm allowed to live? Will I be stuck in a prison room forever until I burn all the totems?
Steve: You will be under my jurisdiction. I will train you, and you will play Minecraft with us. You will be an official member of the jujutsu pros. You'd go on missions and save villagers and players while enjoying the game with us.
Player: I joined this server because I wanted to play the game and make friends. I wanted to have fun. When I met Megumi, that's what I thought would happen. Then I burned the totem and it felt like I would no longer have that. You are saying I have a chance at enjoying the game, even if for a while? I would gladly accept it. I will burn as many totems as you want. I will train under you. I will save villagers and players. Just let me play this game.
Steve: Sounds good then. Let's begin.
