Chapter 487: DECEIVER OF FATE
[Throne of Hell]
Sitting absentmindedly on his throne, a young-looking man in his twenties wearing a black tuxedo and a stylish monocle was thinking to himself.
Just what kind of amusing thing should he do now? What could give him the greatest entertainment? He thought long and hard.
He had been sitting at the same spot and thinking about this for months but time itself held no meaning for someone like him who was as old as the universe itself.
His name was Lucifer — The Light Bringer.
He was once called Samael — the Archangel of Death and Demise.
Nowadays, however, he was renowned for his other name, his identity as the Satan — the Deceiver, and the Prince of Lies.
For Lucifer, both Samael and Satan were him and not him at the same time. They were avatars of his existence, for a being that went beyond time itself. Or perhaps he was their avatar? It was hard to say after all these eons and he did not particularly care to learn the truth of this matter. Ultimately, this matter was inconsequential to his amusement.
His mind was drifting, even now observing thousands upon thousands of dimensions at the same time as he looked for a clue, a hint of an amusing scenario that he could dabble upon. Past, present, and future mingled in a way that would bring madness to any mortal who even dared to try observing what he was witnessing each and every moment for the past few months.
But suddenly — all those possibilities, all those countless universes, and dimensions, many of them yet to even be born… each and every single one of them crumbled into pieces.
'Huh?'
Lucifer stopped his observation. His eyes widened ever so slightly as he felt a small karma link vibrate in a way he would have never thought possible.
"Cain's child?"
He tilted his head, curiosity slowly simmering in his dull eyes. He knew the truth. Up to now, the so-called children of Cain were nothing but failures, failing to meet the desires of their father's true goals.
They were the inevitable results of insurmountable expectations.
The goal Cain, and perhaps even Eve, wished to accomplish was simply unable to succeed no matter what. It should have been impossible from the get-go for that matter.
After all, as long as He was still present, nothing could happen. Nothing could get through. Before his Eyes their attempts were simply futile.
But this…
A smile started forming on his face before transforming into full-blown laughter filled with glee and joy.
He had been bored out of his mind, even if such a concept seemed to be foreign to most ageless entities.
He had been hoping for a new source of Chaos to appear in his life and guide him to a scenario that he could truly enjoy. Something like the universe burning with him having the front row seat to that glorious show.
But this was something even he could have never imagined. Not even in the millions of eons of his existence.
"A new Brethen, I see. How very interesting."
This was in fact beyond the concept of interesting. There were no words to describe the joy and anticipation in his heart.
For the first time in his infinitely long life, Lucifer realized that he could not perceive the light.
Someone of equal standing to him was starting to interfere and though the young man was nothing more than a small fry for now, he would definitely grow to become something more. Something dangerous to his rule and his position as the Original Satan.
"I have underestimated those Prisoners of Fate."
He could now perceive more clearly regarding the reason Azrael himself had intervened back in those times. This was indeed a great discovery.
"What should I do now? What path should I take to make this more fun?"
Perhaps it was time to give more assistance to the so called cults who were worshipping him and the other demons.
Foolish humans who prayed to entities whom they could not even hope to understand. Then again, all humans were such foolish creatures. They were all the same— from start to finish.
Acting as if they knew even when they knew nothing. Thinking of themselves as the jewel of the world even though they were unworthy.
A bunch of ants that needed to be stepped on thoroughly, crushed beyond measure to remind them of their place in the vastness of the universe.
Tapping his finger, Lucifer thought to himself.
How could he make the new situation even more interesting?
His gaze fell on the lower hell. There he could see a loser licking his wounds as he hid and healed himself from his recent injuries, hoping to make a comeback despite being completely humiliated by his opponents.
He understood then what he had to do.
In fact, he did not even have much to do.
He simply needed to move a few pieces and watch the inevitable clash that would transpire naturally.
Would the new Satan fail or would he succeed and grow stronger? Would he be devoured or would he be the devourer?
He did not know.
He truly did not know for the very first time!
This was why… it was even more thrilling.
Knowledge was power. But ignorance was truly a bliss he wished to obtain more than anything in the world.
What would happen next? He was dying to find out.
He grinned as he sent his message,
"Asmodeus. Come to me. We have to talk."
Indeed. They had to talk.
At the same time, he pushed another of his pieces— all this to contact someone who was once very close to him.
Though she might hate him more than anyone else in the entirety of the universe now.
[Lilith. If you hear me, bring one of your avatars, right this instant. I want to make a deal with you.]
Lilith and Eve were working together.
Asgard was moving.
Even the Devil himself seemed to be weaving his own threads.
A new era of Chaos was undoubtedly upon them.
Gods would fall, mortals would rise and the Heaven would shake and quiver….
— What could be more entertaining than this? n)-)//.-.-.--I.)n
A toothy smile stretched his lips at that thought.
"How exciting!"
