MHA: Villains Need A Hero Too

Chapter 6: Don’t Worry, I’ll Take Care Of You

There were many things that Yuno could've done after he left Kisu behind at the restaurant, he was so unpredictable, surely even God couldn't see the boy's future so clearly.

Possibility number one: he could've gone straight home, taken care of Yume, then headed to bed.

Possibility number two: he may have gone to the store, beat up a thug doing lord knows what, then headed home.

Possibility number three: he might have completely ditched the idea of going home and decided to murder some random, troublesome gang.

Does that even fit Yuno's personality? Kisu asked herself.

Standing in front of Yuno's house, she fumbled for the keys he lent to only her. Where did she put them again? Nevermind that, she found them in her back pocket. Setting aside the notes of "things Yuno might've done last night," she pushed the key into the keyhole and twisted it to the left before turning the doorknob and entering the home.

Immediately, she was hit with the smell of sweat, dirty clothes, overnight ramen, a day old serving of daifuku left on the counter, and definitely an unbathed Yuno.

Why would one remember the smell of Yuno?

Speaking of Yuno, it took Kisu a moment to figure out where he was. She didn't bother taking her shoes off, she was already in her uniform, so she stuck to wiping her feet on the mat.

"Yuno, you're going to be late to school. Aren't you usually the one waking me up?" Kisu half shouted, using her sarcastic voice as she poked her head around corners. "Dude, did you hear me or are you suddenly deaf-"

She turned the corner of the hallway, into the kitchen, and at what she found was not expected. Sure the ramen and daifuku were on the table, left out, definitely not edible anymore, but what she saw first out of all those things was Yuno, slumped against the cabinets and snoring softly, a not so peaceful expression on his face as to when he usually sleeps.

Kisu didn't hesitate to walk over, a wiff of his own uniform filling her nose. She desperately wanted to plug her nose up and shout "ew" but that would be rude. She could be nice if she wanted to, at least, that's what she says.

Kneeling down next to Yuno, she examined his face and features. Out like the dead, a really sweaty and uncomfortable dead. His brows were furrowed into a crease that gave the impression of discomfort, his cheeks were slightly flushed in contrast to his pale skin. He looked warm under his uniform, his jacket and jeans on and everything. The only exception being his tie which was loose around his neck, almost completely untied. His hair was disheveled, some of his bangs clinging to his forehead. His lips were slightly parted as he let out harsh exhales, almost ragged.

Without a second thought, Kisu put a hand on his shoulder and shook him, well, not as gently as she probably should've.

"Yuno," she said aloud. "Wake up, you smell unbearable." He didn't reply at first, he really was asleep, so she shook him a little harder. "Yuno, open those pretty eyes and wake up."

With a groan, Yuno's eyes opened, albeit, very slowly, as if he was trying to lift boulders. He looked confused for a few seconds before he lifted his head to look up at Kisu.

"Morning, sleeping beauty," Kisu pressed the back of her hand against his forehead. "Although, I'm not quite sure you got any beauty rest. You're burning up. You sick or something?"

Yuno blinked a few times, getting rid of side effects of sleep. "That would explain many things of how I feel right now."

"Would shit describe how you feel right now?"

"More or less, I suppose."

Yuno propped himself up, no longer slumping against the cabinet, as he rubbed his eyes with one hand and pulled his collar with his other. God, it was so hot, but his mind told him he was cold. He heard a bit of clattering as he woke himself up, it must've been Kisu causing a racket like always.

"Open your mouth," Kisu said as she was suddenly right in front of Yuno again, this time with a thermometer.

"Where did you get that?" Yuno asked, oblivious to his surroundings.

"In a med kit, duh. Now open your mouth and hold the tip under your tongue."

"It won't taste gross, will it?"

"You're such a child. No, it won't taste gross, it's just plastic."

Instead of waiting for Yuno to open his mouth, he was going so slow, Kisu gripped his chin and pushed the thermometer into his mouth, making sure it sat under his tongue. They sat there for all of three seconds before the thermometer beeped and she pulled back out of his mouth.

"39.4 degrees," Kisu read the tempature. "The hell were you doing last night? Also, what happened to your hand?"

"Burned it while heating up food." Yuno was rather blunt today, but that made sense since he was sick.

"Jesus, what did you do to put your entire hand in a bandage?"

"Touched a hot glass bowl, I think. Put in the microwave, heated it up. Tried to take it out and burned my hand on the glass. I think I put it in for too long."

"How long is too long?"

"Three minutes? Why are you making me think so hard right now?"

Kisu wanted laugh, how could someone with straight A's, a genius, not know how to work a microwave? Even she herself isn't so stupid as to put a single bowl of ramen in a microwave for three minutes. No, she would've put it on the stove if she was heating up a soup.

"Asking how long you put a bowl in the microwave is simple stuff." Kisu put the thermometer on the counter and began peeling Yuno's jacket off. "I think you're just really out of it."

"Thank you for that implication," Yuno spat sarcastically. "Truthfully, I didn't know you were in the house until I actually saw you."

"If that's the case, trust me when I say you were out like the dead, despite being a light sleeper."

Kisu set the jacket on the ground next to her, not bothering to fold it, it was already dirty anyway. She then pulled her phone out and her fingers tapped the screen, inhumanely fast if you ask Yuno. There was a "fwoosh" sound before she put her phone back in her pocket, she must've sent a text of some sort, and Yuno heard it loud and not so clear. After doing so, Kisu held Yuno's hands and began pulling him to stand up.

"C'mon buddy, upsy daisies." She said as she used her weight to pull Yuno up. He struggled to maintain balance and stuck to holding onto the counter once off the ground. "I'm going to guess you didn't shower last night?"

"No, too tired." Yuno answered. "Couldn't move."

"You mean you didn't want to move." It was a statement rather then a question. "That's fine, but you really should shower. Need help?"

Everyone who Yuno was aqquainted with knew he was a very independent person. Kisu of all people understood that the best, so when Yuno nodded, even she was shocked by the quick answer.

"Hold on," Kisu took hold of Yuno's bandaged hand and began unbandaging it. Yuno didn't care at this point, he was too tired to care. Once the bandage was off, the explanation was no longer needed. The burn on his palm was red, unnervingly so and spread across his hand, and there was old and new pus draining from the burn. Yuno kept wincing and gritting his teeth as Kisu examined the burn, so increased pain was added to the list.

"Well, this explains a lot of things." Kisu looked back up at Yuno, who currently had his lips pressed together, most likely to keep his groans of pain from escaping his throat. "How the hell did you even burn yourself this bad? I get it's glass, but it's not like it was bowling hot, was it? And you're being unusually sensitive to pain right now."

"Just- stop," Yuno almost choked on his own words. He wanted to pull his hand away, shield it from any touch so it wouldn't hurt so much.

Kisu must've gotten the memo, because she let go of his hand after he said to stop. "Mind telling me why you're hurting so much from a burn?"

All he did was shake his head.

"If you want to fix it, I have to know why it hurts so much."

Yuno lifted his head from his hand, looking Kisu in the eyes before he groaned again. "Chisaki stopped by yesterday." He voice was barely above a whisper. "Must've hit me harder than I thought."

Oh…oh!

"You mean, Chisaki came over here, bargained for nothing, threw a fit, then left?" Kisu felt enraged, and that was putting it lightly.

"If we're speaking 'moron,' then yes."

One could see the steam pouring out of Kisu's head with how angry she was in that moment. The next time she sees Meiyi Chisaki, that bitch would regret ever messing with Yuno.

No, not helpful right now. Kisu reminded herself as she took a deep, calming breath.

"I'll be right back," Kisu put her hands on Yuno's shoulders, to keep him steady so he could pay attention to her. She spoke soft and slow so he could understand. "I'm going to get you some clean clothes. You are going to the bathroom to shower, because by god, do you stink. Now, before you get into the shower, wrap your burn lightly with a bandage, and don't use hot water. Lukewarm is best for you right now."

"Since when were you a doctor?" Yuno half joked. Who knew someone like him could lighten the mood?

"Just do as I say, okay? For once. I don't feeling like dressing or bathing you if you pass out."

"Yes, mother."

Kisu brought her hands back to her sides and gave Yuno one more studying glance. Sure, he was swaying, but the bathroom wasn't far. If she was quick about it, nothing would happen.

And quick she was.

Like a cheetah, she zoomed to Yuno's room and opened his closet where all his clothing was. Unusually calculated hands opened specific drawers to pull out the following: underwear, socks, gray sweatpants, a black shirt, a thin jacket(it was more a cardigan then anything), and some more bandages.

He really keeps these rolls everywhere, weirdo.

Kisu's feet moved on autopilot as she headed to the bathroom with the folded clothing in her arms. Before entering the bathroom, she knocked on the door. There wasn't the sound of water running, so maybe he waited for his clothes.

"Yuno, I have your clothes. Open up?" she had her ear against the door to listen for an answer.

And an answer she got.

Pained retches reached her ears and her eyes were blown wide. No longer hesitating, she threw the door open with no care for the possible damage. Her eyes are met with Yuno on the ground once again, slumped over the porcelain bowl of the toilet, his body convulsing and muscles tensing as gagging and more retching is heard. There was a loud splatter of bile and water connecting before settling.

Without a second thought, Kisu recklessly put the clothing on the counter, knocking over multiple bottles, and kneeled down next to Yuno. She pulled his bangs back, grateful for his hair being just long enough to put in a small ponytail. Yuno didn't seem to notice, or maybe he did and chose to ignore it, and a small whimper left his throat as drool dripped down his chin.

Kisu rubbed his back in soothing circles, easing the tension in his muscles as best as possible. It did little as his body tensed again, the food from dinner leaving his mouth in a messy projectile. His stomach tightened painfully as he vomited like no tomorrow.

"Hurts…" he mumbled, his eyes squeezed shut.

"I know," Kisu reached down and rubbed circles into his stomach. "Want some water?"

He shook his, regretting doing so as the whiplash hit him like a truck, his head beginning to ache more. He felt if he drank water, it would just come back up again.

"Make it stop…" Yuno wasn't one to beg, but he felt so terrible. For once, he didn't know what to do. His thoughts were scattered, he could barely think.

Kisu wished she could make it stop, provide some sort of relief for Yuno.

Yuno placed a hand against his abdomen, squeezing his arm around it as another streak of pain came, dry heaving, his body struggling to empty his stomach with nothing in it. The occasional stream of stomach acid spewed from his mouth, and then he was back to dry heaving, drool leaking out of his mouth with each convulse of his tightening middle.

"Please," he begged, his uninjured hand reaching for Kisu, wherever she may be. "Hurts, hurts, want it to stop already."

He only remembered Kisu was next to him when she held his hand, her touch and presence comforting him through his painful dry heaving. His nerves were on fire, his muscles were sore like he had been flexing and unflexing for hours, his head was practically splitting, his eyes were hazy and unfocused.

Pants, grunts, and whimpers filled the bathroom as the dry heaving came to stop. Kisu took a gentle hold of his burnt hand, which was wrapped tightly around his abdomen, that probably wasn't helping ease the pain one bit. She pulled his arm away from his stomach, despite the resistance Yuno gave, he eventually let her take control of his arm. She extended her hand to grab the roll of toilet paper, ripping a few squares off. She folded the squares on top of each other, making a thicker piece. With the toilet paper, she wiped the drool and bile off Yuno's lips and chin.

"Haven't even gotten into the shower and you're already puking out your guts, huh?" Kisu threw the toilet paper into the trash can. Yuno just moaned in pain as he clutched his stomach again. "Alright, I get it. Think you can stand?"

Kisu stood up first, then offered her hands out to help Yuno. He took her hands, gripping them like she was a lifeline as Kisu pulled him up. If she thought he was wobbly before, now he looked like he could fall if he wasn't being held at all times. Maybe she'll tell him to sit in the tub while the water was running.

She turned the water on, lukewarm, and closed the curtain. She grabbed a towel and set it on a hook near the shower, then fixed the stack of clean clothes and any fallen bottles she knocked over, all while holding Yuno's hand so he wouldn't fall.

"Think you can wash up now that it all came up?" She asked, her voice abnormally quiet.

"Want to sleep." Yuno answered, his eyes struggling to stay open.

"You'll feel better." Kisu took his ponytail out, it tickled his ears as it settled back into its usual state.

Yuno gave Kisu a suspicious look, like she was lying and just trying to get him wash up. He eventually gave in first, tired of standing, and let go of Kisu's hand to unbutton his shirt. He fumbled, his fingers couldn't properly grip the buttons, and he growled, whined, in response.

"Calm down," Kisu unbuttoned the shirt herself. "There. Think you can undress yourself now?"

He nodded, afraid that speaking anymore will send him gagging again.

"Okay, I'll be in the kitchen cleaning, alright? If you need help, then just holler, I guess."

Kisu saw herself out of the bathroom, closing the door behind her. She heard mutters of frustration before leaving. Hopefully, he didn't pass out or anything.

I don't feel like going in there while he's showering, I'd be traumatized.

—————

Yuno wanted to die.

That was putting it lightly. Yuno never got sick, and when he did, it hit full force no matter what the cause was. The cause this time being his infected burn.

Of which Kisu has been cleaning for the past hour, sitting on Yuno's bed. At least, it felt like it's been hours with how much it hurts. It's only been less then two minutes. She had to be delicate and gentle with her movements, otherwise Yuno would start writhing and yanking his hand away. He had already done so when she first started cleaning his burn.

"Dude! You are going to make this worse then it already is!" Kisu scolded as Yuno glared at her, guarding his hand like an adult cat and her kittens.

"It hurts." Yuno stated the obvious fact.

"Obviously, it's going to hurt! If you let me take care of it, then it won't hurt as much anymore."

"It'll still hurt even after."

"No shit! God, you can be such a baby sometimes."

"Maybe you shouldn't deal with the baby then."

Kisu recoiled at the snarky remark. She didn't mean it that way, she never would mean it that way. Yuno turned away from Kisu, cradling his burnt hand in his lap while the other picked at the bandages around his neck.

"You know I didn't mean it that way." Kisu said. "I wouldn't say something like that and mean it. You don't mean what you say either."

"You're delusional."

"No, you're delusional. You're not even in your right mind right now. You're burning up from a fever, your nerves are overally sensitive, you have a headache, and you've been vomiting your guts out the whole morning. Your intrusive thoughts are just pouring out."

Kisu didn't even notice Yuno shift as she rambled on about why he wasn't in his right mind. She didn't notice until she felt his head rest on her shoulder.

"Yuno?"

"Sorry," Yuno apologized before Kisu could say more. "I shouldn't have said that…Sorry. I'm sorry."

"Stop apologizing," Kisu combed her fingers through his hair. "It's fine, I know you didn't mean it."

They sat there for a while, Yuno resting his head on Kisu's shoulder as she twisted the tips of his hair between his fingers. Yuno didn't seem to want to move, so Kisu let him stay there, he was relaxed and calm there. They stayed in that position for about five minutes before Kisu heard small snores and felt warm breath against her shirt.

"Yuno? You awake?" She asked to test if he would answer. She didn't receive a reply. He was asleep, and she took this chance to officially clean his burn.

Laying him down on his side, Kisu took a cloth, which was wet with cool water, thank goodness Yuno hadn't knocked over the cup of water she was using, and dabbed it on his burn. His fingers would twitch at the feeling of cloth against his currently fragile skin. His brows furrowed into a crease, discomforted, and Kisu could feel his muscles tensing under her hands. He may have been asleep, but he could still feel whatever was going on with hs body. He was still burning up from his fever too, she'd have to check his tempature again after this.

Kisu rewrapped Yuno's hand again, how many times has she done this already? She made sure not to wrap it too tight, that could hurt him more and she didn't want that. Not a second later after finishing, Kisu made her way to find the same thermometer from that morning. It was still sitting on the kitchen counter, so she quickly grabbed it and made her way back to Yuno's room, her gait never changing.

Just like the last time, Kisu opened Yuno's mouth and stuck the tip under his tongue, then closed his mouth so it could read his tempature. It beeped the same sound when it finished and she pulled it out of his mouth.

38.8 degrees.

It went down, that's for sure, but it could still spike at any moment if she wasn't careful. She'd play it safe for now and put a cooling patch, or even a wet cloth, on Yuno's head. For now, she'll just tuck him under a blanket or two, he looked cold but he was burning.

Before she left Yuno to rest in peace, she took a few moments to rub his arm, easing the tension in his body. He did, more or less so, ease up and his expression wasn't as discomforted. So she left it at that and took her leave, letting him sleep throughout the rest of the day.

Sleep well, god knows you'll need.
