MHA: Villains Need A Hero Too

Chapter 12: USJ: Arrival

To say class 1-A is chaotic is…quite an understatement. Frenzied doesn't even come close to what they are, nor does disorderly do for the title. These 15 year olds are anarchic and shameless, the world turned upside down with just a shout of the class. Yuno swore, they could most definitely move an entire mountain across the face of Japan if they worked together to reek havoc. It was absolutely destroying Yuno's eardrums with how loud the class was, compared to how small the bus was. If only he had headphones, he could at least muffle the sound; curse his sensitive ears.

"Could we add you to the group chat later?" A student named Ochaco Uraraka asked him, she was leaning forward in her seat as she said with a smile.

"What for?" Yuno questioned back with an overly suspicious tone. "This is a temporary stay, I'm only here for today. What would I need to be in your…group chat for?"

"Just because." The mochi-like girl blinked, her expression dumbfounded with a simple answer. "Plus, you're nice. And smart, and you're friends with Kisu and we're friends with Kisu. And…"

"And what?"

"You just seem kind of lonely, I guess."

Yuno didn't have an answer for that statement. He only kept silent. Well, she wasn't really correct, but she was definitely somewhere on the target. Of course, Yuno didn't like being around people, and these friends of Kisu were no exception. That being said, it wouldn't hurt to have someone to talk to, someone other than Kisu. Yuno just found it a waste of time, finding new friends and than drifting out of contact within the next couple of years. If he's to have a friend, he'd much rather have known them for a few years before he declares them a "close friend." Kisu likes to make fun of him for that, saying it's like that of a ritual. One must understand and know Yuno to a certain degree in order to become something like a "friend."

"I'm not lonely," Yuno said, biting back. "I just prefer to be alone. That doesn't necessarily mean I have no one to rely on."

"You mean you like being holed up in your room even though you have a friend." Kisu groaned, slumping against her seat and banging her head against the window.

Kisu's hero costume was the first thing Yuno noticed when she came into view, right as they had entered the bus. Covering her eyes and nose was a dark red mask, similiar to one that you would wear to a ball in the fantasy books. She wore a black skin tight suit with white wind streaks crawling up her left arm and leg. A black jacket fit loosely around her torso, the sleeves only went down to her elbows. She wore also black gloves that crawled halfway up her forearm, small white pads on her fingertips. Sitting on her waist was a thick belt and a small pack; what the pack contained, Yuno doesn't know(he's not sure he wants to know). Finally, her heels, they were also black, unsurprisingly, and they gave her about an inch and a half of extra height.

She looks like a thief, was Yuno's first thought, but that was to be expected since she actually is a thief.

"I do not 'hole myself up in my room' as you've put it," Yuno said after studying Kisu's costume again. "I just enjoy being alone, that's all."

Kisu, completely ignoring Yuno, leaned over to whisper into Todoroki's ear, who sat next to her. "He just likes playing games."

Todoroki nodded, just agreeing with Kisu like he understood what she was talking about. He acted like a yes man when it came to Kisu, he deemed her a safe person to be around, so he was friendly with her. But by god, half the time she talked, he didn't have a single clues what she would be going on about. Meanwhile, Kaminari and Jiro would be spitting comeback after comeback at her, trying to prove her wrong, whatever the subject may have been at the time.

"I do have a question though," Midoryia raised a shy hand, like he was waiting to be called on by the teacher. "How come, when we asked about your Quirk, you froze up the first time?"

Kisu responded first, her head immediately turning to Yuno to see his reaction. To her surprise, his expression didn't change, although his eyes told a completely different story. She could see the way his pupils shrank from the sudden shock of the question. She was about to tell Midoryia to mind his own business when Yuno's hand gripped hers, searching for something to stay aware of where he was. Uncaring for the looks some of the students were shooting, she took hold of his hand, rubbing circles onto his knuckles with her thumb. She made sure to give it a light squeeze so he fully understood he was still with her. With an almost strained voice, Yuno finally answered.

"I don't enjoy the looks I get when I use my Quirk." The brunette squeezed Kisu's hand back. "People get scared when they are not in control of their own body. People also find it worrying when you press a knife against your own skin. I find it disturbing when people react to my Quirk, it scares them, and then it scares me."

It was partially the truth, Yuno did hate how people reacted to his Quirk. The other half of the truth would be the way his parents would train his Quirk. Blood manipulation comes with much power, because your body relies on blood to stay alive, to stay warm, it's one of the main things in your body that keeps you from kicking the bucket. If Yuno wanted to, he could burst an organ in someone's body and the said person could die from internal bleeding. No one wants to be around someone that could potentially kill them.

"I was a late bloomer." Yuno continued on, it caught on the attention of the students who sat in the same isle as Yuno. "Usually, most kids would develop a Quirk at the age of 5, perhaps even earlier. I, on the other hand, I-" he cut himself off, memories of when he first used his Quirk setting in his mind. Kisu gripped his fingers, the only thing keeping him from traveling into another memory. His voice became hushed, barely able to hear him when he spoke again. "My Quirk only became part of my life when I was twelve. I don't exactly…know or understand why."

Those looks that the class gave him, they were confused and slightly bewildered. Yaoyorozu, who sat down on the opposite side of the bus, furrowed her brows and raised a hand up, like she was asking to speak.

"That doesn't make sense," she began. "That's an entire seven years later, you shouldn't have had a Quirk by then."

"I also questioned it at first," Yuno let out a small chuckle, huffing with each laugh that left his lips. "Then I wondered why we have a set time to develop a Quirk. At some point, I just paid no more mind to it. I was somewhat grateful I had a Quirk. Being Quirkless would cause unneeded problems should I have stayed that way."

Kisu raised an eyebrow in curiosity. Was he saying he's lucky to have a Quirk? Odd, because Yuno never considered his power to be a blessing, but a curse. His Quirk brought upon an entire new hell, with his parents becoming entirely different animals, along with the deaths he had accidentally caused just by grazing a stranger's hand. So many accidents occurred because of Yuno's late Quirk, he learned to be afraid of touch for years until he finally grew to control his Quirk. Even then, physical contact was a no go if he wasn't in a good mood. He had made someone explode once because he was being harassed, the boy was no older than 15 at the time, and the boy's family grieved and mourned the loss of their only son.

He still remembered the first time he had used his Quirk, an ungodly sight. His teacher had been reprimanding him, his grades were failing due to his time being spent on training and not his studies. He was about to walk out the door when the teacher gripped his wrist, saying they weren't done talking. Yuno began fighting her, and he felt a pit of fear in his stomach. When he brought a hand up to shove the teacher away, he heard a scream. Something warm splashed his face, and it dripped down his cheek. His eyes had been closed, and he was afraid to open them when he heard the scream. When he did open them, all he saw was a body covered in red, the teacher's chest and stomach open for the world to see her insides, and some of her intestines hanging out of her side. He could only back away, more teachers filling the classroom, before a panicked scream escaped his own throat. Teachers were calling an ambulance, but Yuno already knew, that teacher, she was dead, and it was all Yuno's fault.

Yuno could still feel the blood on his cheeks, he could still smell the iron in the air even inside the bus. That smell haunted him wherever he went, and he feared he would do the same thing to someone he loved, someone like Kisu.

Speaking of Kisu, she was calling his name with a worried voice. Yuno blinked a few times, it helped clear his vision and it made Kisu's voice clearer with every blink of his eyelids. He turned to her, a question written in her lips, although she kept quiet.

"I'm fine," Yuno answered the silent question before turning back to the class. "I prefer not to talk about my Quirk, it just brings back unwanted memories. I'm sorry for being vague."

Pity filled the eyes of the students, and Yuno hated that. What he needed was comfort, not pity. What he needed was someone to rely on, not a grunt who'll do everything for him. He took a deep breath, calming himself down, gripping the fabric of his pants. He left half moons with his nails on the flesh of his thighs, he was sure even Kisu could tell with how hard he was digging into his skin through the pants.

"Is that why you chose the Support Course?" Todoroki asked, interrupting the silence of the bus. "You could've done the Hero Course exam, I'm sure you could've passed with flying colors."

"Oh," Yuno's lips formed an "o" when he exclaimed, making eye contact with Todoroki. He smiled and laughed lightly before looking back at his fidgeting hands. "I was actually supposed to take the exam for recommended examinees."

"You were a recommendation?" Midoryia's eyes sparkled at the thought, they soon dimmed after another thought crossed his mind. "Did you fail the exam?"

Yuno laughed lightly. "Well, I refused to take it."

"Ehhh?!" Bakugo stood out of his seat, holding a hand in the air with explosions singeing the fabric of the seat. "Why the hell would you refuse the opportunity? With a Quirk like that- hold on, you probably think you're better than all of us don't you?"

With the way you act, anyone would be better than you, Yuno kept that thought to himself, just so he wouldn't be attacked by the explosive Pomeranian.

"No, I don't think I'm 'better than all of you.' I just didn't want to take the exam. I wouldn't have passed even if I did."

"Why not?" Yaoyorozu asked, paying attention and listening contently.

"Simply because of my Quirk." Yuno replied, never sugarcoating his words as always. "The amount of blood cells I have are doubled, I have more blood than the average person. Because my blood is much thicker, due to too many blood cells, if I happen to overuse my Quirk, I will in fact faint. My cells will multiply faster than I can bleed out if I happen to overexert the use of my power. Oftentimes, I become fatigued from either blood loss or overuse."

"Oh's" and "ah's" escapes the students' lips, both curiousity and worry hanging in the air. Just from that small explanation alone, they could tell both how dangerous and how self inflicting hemokinesis was. It seemed more of an inconvenience than a power when they put it to thought. Midoryia seemed to be jotting down notes in a wrecked notebook, and Yuno wonders where he pulled it out from because he most definitely did not have it in his hands a few moments ago. He looked up at Yuno for a few moments, only looking away when Yuno glanced back at him. The freckled teen finished his analysis with "pale complexion, possibly due to Quirk" and closed his notebook again.

To anyone else, Yuno looked unhealthy. To Kisu, he looked completely normal, because she understands why he looks the way he does. To an outsider, the pale skin and dark eyebags look concerning; one could see the eyebags from a mile away with how dark they were, it was the only thing keeping him from looking like a ghost. His thin figure was also more than just worrying, he looked as if he was being starved. He did lack the nutrients to grow properly, though, he doubts he'd get any taller now that he's older. Yuno was most definitely smaller than the average teenage boy.

"Speaking of Quirks, while we're on the topic," Tsu put a finger to her chin. "Midoryia, you're Quirk is like All Might's."

Midoryia shrieked in surprise at the blunt statement. "Y- You really think so? I suppose, but…uh…"

Yuno noticed the way Midoryia became awkward when Tsu had spoken her thoughts. He stuttered as he tried denying the facts, turning his head away when he flushed from panic.

"Hold on, Tsu!" Kirishima chimed in. "All Might doesn't get hurt when he uses his Quirk. They just sorta look similiar."

That put a question in Yuno's head. The number one hero and Midoryia's Quirk, they did seem…somewhat the same. Midoryia's Quirk seemed to be a strength enhancement of some sort. Although, from what Yuno analyzed from the entrance exam, it seemed Midoryia's body couldn't contain the strength that it produced. His limbs would end up broken when he decided to use his Quirk. Hell, during the entrance exam, Yuno had heard from Kisu that Midoryia had broken both legs and his arm, and he almost fell to his death.

Comparing all those facts to All Might, they did seem to have the same, or at least similiar, Quirks. Although, All Might was much more powerful and had much better control over his strength. He could even change the weather if he really wanted to.

Maybe they aren't too similiar after all, Yuno pushed the thought aside for a later time.

"It must be nice to a have such a simple augmenting type Quirk." Kirishima said, holding his arm out in the air. "You can do some flashy stuff, unlike a Quirk like mine. My Hardening Quirk is strong against other people," his arm changed from its soft flesh to hard rock in an instant. "But it's nothing too theatrical, unfortunately; it's pretty boring."

"Ah, I think it's an amazing Quirk," Midoryia leaned forward to get a better view of Kirishima's Quirk in action. "It'll definitely pass as a pro's!"

Kirishima gave a doubtful smile. "A pro, huh? You think? Well, you do have to think about popularity as a pro, Y'know. It won't do if you're a pro but you're not well known."

"Then that means my Navel laser will do well in power and flashiness." Yuga Aoyama chimed in, that was the first time Yuno had heard him speak.

"Yeah, but it's kinda sad that it gives you a stomachache." Ashido placed a pitying hand on Aoyama's shoulder.

Talk about blunt, Yuno rolled his eyes. Come to think of it, 1-A is quite talkative, he'd have to recharge his social battery if they keep hanging around Kisu. Something tells him he won't be able to escape them so easily after this trip is over.

"On the topic of strong and flashy," Kirishima turned his gaze to Bakugo and Todoroki. "It'd have to be one of those two. They're hella strong and they've got the flashiness of a pro!"

"Keep in mind, Bakugo is always mad," Tsu said, paying no mind to what might become of the comment. "I doubt he'd get popular with a natural attitude like that. He'd chase everyone away. I guess that's good against the villains though."

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?!" Bakugo stood out of his seat, shouting at Tsu and most definitely offended. "You wanna fight! You'll die before I even get serious!"

"See?" Tsu gave an almost sinister smile.

Kaminari began to include himself in the conversation, a smirk of his own painted on his face. "We've only known each other for a short while, it's funny how quick everyone was to know that your personality was like crap steeped in a hot cauldron of sewage."

"What kind of description is that?! I'll kill you!"

Yuno could hardly keep his snickering to himself, but he quickly returned to a neutral expression when Kisu turned to him with a squint and a raised brow. She turned away again, conversing to a student named Sato. Yuno himself turned to Midoryia, studying him. He seemed to be shocked, placing his elbows on his knees and ruffling his hair with his hands, seemingly muttering something to himself. Yuno didn't know what it was though.

"What a vulgar way to start up a conversation." Yaoyorozu furrowed her brows and frowned. "It's like they don't have a care in the world about relationships."

"Yeah, but it's fun to loosen up and speak freely with each other!" Uraraka brightened the gloom with a smile and a positive note.

"What exactly defines flashy?" Yuno asked, it was more so to himself, but everyone seemed to go quiet at the question. Yuno looked up from his hands, noticing how the class suddenly settled. It was like an ocean with crashing waves beginning to ease into a steady wake.

That got a reaction out of them, Yuno mentally smiled to himself.

"I mean, I guess it'd have to be cool to look at," Kirishima rubbed the back of his head, thinking of another reply. "Flashiness kind of comes with the role. If you want to be well known, you kinda have to be fun to watch, right?"

Kirishima received a few nods of agreement. How very simpleminded of them, Yuno didn't say aloud for fear of offending strangers.

"Do you think a rising hero like Mt. Lady has a flashy Quirk?" Yuno asked, seeking to get another reaction out of the class. This was truly getting entertaining.

"Well, she's got her looks." Kaminari pointed out. "I think growing big is a pretty handy Quirk, even if she ends up destroying a few things. But it's not all that theatrical and showy. Maybe, if she didn't look as hot, she'd just be your average hero."

Yaoyorozu leaned back in her seat, nodding to herself as she thought aloud. "I suppose a pro does need to have the flashiness, but I still can't say what defines 'flashiness' as you've all put it. Perhaps it's as simple as finding something joyful and interesting to look at."

Yuno was somewhat proud of himself, for speaking with new people, but also finding ways to put their brains to work. He was also proud of the class, not only for giving him info on themselves, but for thinking about their future as pro heroes.

"Another example," Yuno felt himself relax as he smiled subtly and turned to Uraraka. "Let's take your Quirk for example, what kind of power do you have?"

"Oh!" Uraraka seemed surprised by the sudden attention. "Well, if I touch something with five or ten fingers, it loses it's gravity and start floating."

"Perfect," Yuno said. "Let's say we take Kisu and Uraraka's Quirk, which do you find more flashy as a citizen watching the broadcast at home?"

There were many "hmm's" as the class took a few moments to think. Only moments later, a student with extra limbs raised his hand, Yuno recalled his name was Meto Shoji.

"I personally, would find Kisu's Quirk more entertaining." Shoji stated. "I remember one at one point in time, she demonstrated how she can 'steal' a Quirk for a certain amount of time. Recently, she learned how to do it and showed us how it worked."

Now that's a new feature, Yuno put a note in his head to ask Kisu about that later on.

"An opinion justified by it's reason," Yuno nodded, then looked at another student.

"Who else? Another opinion would be great to hear."

"I think I'd find Uraraka's more cool to watch," Ashido said. "Honestly, I'd be really mesmerized to find something defying gravity itself. I think a lot of people would think it's pretty cool to see an object, or maybe even a person, defy gravity with a single touch."

With nod, Yuno continued on. "Exactly. One question, different opinions. Quirks and heroes are not defined by flashiness. Although, popularity and a showy Quirk may help. What more so matters is how that Quirk is used, along with the way you gain favor of the people. People will naturally be drawn to you by your looks, the way you use your Quirk, and how many good-willed actions you've made. Flashiness is only a cover up for agencies and the company that produce pro's."

"I suppose that does make sense," Yaoyorozu agreed. "Some agencies are only there for the money, so, flashiness seeming to be a required thing makes sense. Although, it's somewhat of a mask to hide the fact that they really aren't as goodwilled as they come off to be."

Yaoyorozu's analysis seem to put the class back into a state of silence. Seeing how heroes have always been, well, they're heroes, it may have shocks them to hear that they might just be in it for the money and not out of the goodness of their hearts.

"Alright, everyone," Aizawa said, bringing the class's attention to land on him. "We're here, so behave and control yourselves."

"Whaaaaaa?!"

The class all rushed to the right side of the bus, looking out the windows to gaze at the enormous dome. It truly was as huge as it looked from far away, and it seemed to get overwhelmingly bigger the closer they got to it. Yuno himself didn't exactly like big areas, it made him vulnerable and he hated that, but the class seemed to be like five year olds all over again with they're charmed expressions. They were certainly excited, that was easy to tell.

When the bus finally stopped, everyone stood and exited the bus in an orderly fashion, no thanks to Iida who tried, key word being tried, to get everyone to line up. It was like he was a shepherd who didn't understand how to get sheep moving. A completely useless shepherd if Yuno was being honest.

"Hello, everyone," a voice filtered with radio spoke aloud to everyone. "I've been waiting for you all."

"Uwahhhh?!" Both Midoryia and Uraraka's eyes sparkled as they gazed at the new figure dressed in an astronauts suit.

"It's the Space Hero: Thirteen!" Midoryia practically squealed like a fangirl. "The gentlemanly hero, Thirteen has saved thousands of people!"

"Ohhhh! I love Thirteen!" Uraraka was bouncing with excitement.

"Please, everyone," Thirteen gestured to the open the doors, the entrance to the large dome. "Come in, let us enter with no delay."

So everyone followed, the class somewhat impatient with excitement as they all but skipped into the building. Being the energetic class they are, they had no hesitation, unlike Yuno. He had squinted at the doors, suspiciously, before taking a step and a hand was place on his shoulder.

Yuno flinched at the unexpected touch. He turned around to see Aizawa, tired but serious expression, as always.

"If it becomes too much and you get overwhelmed, then just back out, okay?" Aizawa said. "I wouldn't want Loader coming to me with complaints about his student fainting on my trip. Don't overexert yourself for the sake of pleasing my students."

Now that, that was certainly not what Yuno was doing.

"It's not a matter of pleasing people, Eraser," Yuno gently pushed Aizawa's hand off his shoulder, smiling a not so genuine smile. "It's a matter of learning. I hope to make role models out of these students much better than a teacher could. Getting them to use they're brain is the first step. Now, persuading them to be more cautious is a whole other story."

"Remember, Yuno, these are my students." Aizawa crossed his arms. "And today, that's including you too."

"Understood, Mr Aizawa." And Yuno turned to join the rest of the class, leaving Aizawa to tag along on the tail end.

Inside, there were many different stations. They all seemed to replicate different natural disasters or accidents. There was one with a collapsed building, and another seemed to be a flood. There were also domes, much smaller than the one they currently stood in though. One had red blazes painted on it, which most likely was a wildfire simulation of some sort.

"Landslides, shipwrecks, windstorms, et cetera;" Thirteen began a monologue, much to Yuno's disliking. "This is a training ground I made with many different disasters and accidents. It's what I call the Unforseen Simulation Joint. Otherwise known as, the USJ!"

That was…overly dramatic.

"Thirteen, where's All Might?" Yuno overheard, and it sounded as if Aizawa was disappointed. "Wasn't he supposed to, Y'know, meet us here?"

"About that…" Thirteen took a few steps closer to whisper something, Yuno didn't quite hear. But after she stepped away, he heard Aizawa finish the topic with a "how irrational, let's begin anyway."

Thirteen returned her attention back to the class, a chirpy voice filling the air with the radio filter in the background. "Now, I do have a few things to explain, or maybe several things actually." She raised a hand to show the tips of her fingers covered with metal. "I'm sure you're all aware, my Quirk is Black Hole. My Quirk gives me the power to suck up anything and reduce it to dust."

Midoryia decided to chime in. "You've saved many people with that Quirk. It's truly amazing!"

"Yes," Thirteen spoke more firm this time. "But it's also a highly dangerous Quirk, one capable of killing many." The class suddenly stopped they're needless nodding, the atmosphere became heavy. "I'm sure some of you have Quirks like that as well. In a hero powered society, Quirks have certainly been regulated, so it doesn't seem to be a problem at first glance. However, I ask of you to never forget that there are many Quirks in this world. One wrong step, and you could hurt or kill the people around you."

Yuno has heard this many times before, too many times. And there have been many people he's hurt and killed. So many families have grieved, he realized, all because of him. It makes his mind fumble a bit, and he begs whatever voice may speak to keep quiet.

"I'm sure that you've had multiple fitness tests, you've been able to find hidden powers in your Quirk." Thirteen went on. "And you've realized the danger of using your powers against others. You're class is a completely fresh start. You will be taught how to use you Quirks to save and not harm. I sincerely hope you leave here today, understanding that your power is meant to save peoples' lives." And with a bow, one hand on her chest and one theatrically in the air, she finished. "Thank you all for listening."

The class cheered, clapping their hands and shouting "bravo!" A speech like that was well deserved of it's praise, so Yuno also clapped, albeit, less heartedly. With Thirteen looking around at the students, smiling and thanking them, her eyes landed on Yuno, who flinched and shied away behind the rest of the class.

"Ah, now there's a familiar face," Yuno could quite literally hear the smile from under Thirteen's mask. She took a few steps toward Yuno before holding a hand out. "Come here, buddy."

Yuno blinked a few times before rolling his eyes and holding his hand out. He attempted to shake her hand but she unexpectedly pulled him into a side hug, to which he yelped embarrassingly.

"I haven't seen you since you came with 1-A last year!" Thirteen laughed. "You're still small, have you been eating? Ah, it's good to see you've grown though."

"Please, let go." Yuno was getting close to shoving Thirteen away.

"Let me hug you at least," Thirteen denied. "See, class, this has got to be one of the best students in all of UA. You're lucky to get to meet such a guy."

Yuno frowned. "Don't call me that."

"I thought the Big 3 were the best." Sero said, almost a bit rudely.

"Oh, sure," Thirteen waved a dismissive hand. "But Tsumuyuki here has participated with m countless trips, both as a student, an assistant, and a teacher. He'd make a great teacher here once he's graduated."

I'd do that were it an option in the first place, Yuno rolled his eyes again.

Yuno managed to pry himself from Thirteen's grasp, much to her dismay. Never the touchy guy, she knew, but a hug wouldn't hurt anyone. Yuno dusted his uniform, smoothing it of the wrinkles Thirteen made and found his way back behind the class, further behind the class. He learned his lesson, never stand too close to Thirteen if she sees a familiar face.

"Alright," Aizawa said. "Let's just get started-"

Aizawa was cut off by a crackling sound, and everyone craned their necks to look at the ceiling. The lights, they seemed to go out so randomly, it had the class confused and desperately waiting for an explanation. Yuno felt himself tense with sudden fear, for whatever reason. It could've just been a malfunction or a blown wire.

His beliefs were blown to bits when he suddenly saw a purple spiral, near the center of the USJ fountain. He thought it was just him imagining things, and yet, Aizawa suddenly turning to the same fountain confirmed what Yuno saw was definitely real. It wasn't just his imagination.

Something about that made Yuno shrink, his body was already feeling sore from the tension in his muscles. His eyes couldn't be pulled away as the purple spiral grew in size, and he suddenly knew what it was even before Aizawa shouted.

"Don't move! Stay where you are!"
