Chapter 1: Where It Begins, Your Future Looks Bleak
A young boy of 17 sat in a dark room, the only light coming from his high tech computer, of which he had built himself. A bag of chips sat next to his hand, of which rested on his mouse. A pair of headphones were snug against his ears, and he could hear none other than his best friend, Kisuma Aoni(never call her Kisuma or Aoni, only Kisu), scolding him loud and clear. She was disturbing his concentration, especially since the game he was playing, League Of Legends, was a difficult game. He was on his way to ranking up to Master, but with Kisu constantly in his ears, it was getting quite difficult to focus.
"Please, Kisu, I'm begging you," Yuno said in a stern voice as he ultimately destroyed the enemy with the role Jungle. "Find a way yourself, you don't need me to help you with every job."
"Um, yes! Yes, I do!" Kisu yelled back into the phone, panting like she was running, and she was. "For once, I can't shake them off. They sent actual heroes this time! Actual, decent, heroes! Can't you help me out? Please?"
With such a desperate call like that, how could he say no. Although Yuno was willing to help, those who knew him personally, they were aware that he didn't mean it good intended, well, most of the time.
On the other screen of his PC, Yuno pulled up a map that had both a blue and red dot. The blue symbolized Kisu, while the other symbolized the enemy. While guiding Kisu and helping her, Yuno continued his game of League. There was no way he'd lose his rank to a pitiful call for help like that.
"Turn left at the intersection," Yuno instructed, almost like the navigation apps. "Then keep straight."
"Are you mocking me?" Kisu deadpanned. "Cause if you are, that won't help me-"
"Yes, I am," Yuno interrupted. "I am mocking you, now get your ass moving."
On Kisu side of this situation, she was being chased by one of the newer heroes, Kamui Woods, because she had unsuccessfully gone on a job of theft. Well, it will all be worth it in the end, she's being paid a hefty amount of yen.
Oh, heroes. Nasty things they are. This world of superpowers was seriously overrated in, especially, Yuno's eyes. With a society purely based on power, some people who were at the bottom of the hierarchy, had no power whatsoever. These powers were called Quirks, and over 80% of the world had a Quirk, while the rest were left what we call, Quirkless. Because of these powers, people are split into heroes and villains.
"Get off my ass!" Kisu demanded of the wood hero, who was jumping across buildings, chasing after her. "Can you leave me the hell alone?!"
"Halt!" Kamui shouted. "Seize this, you are arrested for act of theft and will be detained for running away!"
"God damn, he really isn't laying off."
"Maybe you should've done a better job." Yuno said into his mic, of which Kisu heard in her ear piece. "If you had gone from behind the shop, and into the vents, then you wouldn't have gotten caught."
"Alright, I get it! I should've listened, it would've been better anyway, I guess."
Yuno sighed, licking a few buttons to finally destroy the Nexus and win. He had ranked up to Master, and now he's going to help Kisu, even if she gets upset with him. Well, he'll just have to shove her in a closet before school starts again tomorrow.
"I'll lead you to my house, I'm sending allies your way." Yuno said as small mechanical wasps crawled out of his sleeves and a snake creeped out of his collar.
"You're not sending those creepy crawlers, are you?"
"Would you rather be left to fend for yourself?"
"No! Hell no!"
"Then I think, you can deal with them."
In just five minutes, the snake and wasp found their way to Kisu, of course, because they were built by Yuno. His mind could much be that of a genius, like no other.
As soon as the wasps showed up, Kisu was relieved of her run, by little, but it was still something. The wasps would buzz around Kamui, and with an extra feature, they could not only sting repeatedly with a heavy dose of poison, but their stingers, were able to produce fire thanks to the gasoline they hold in their bodies. As we all know, fire is always the winner against wood, specifically dry wood. And what did Kamui Woods have? Wood, lots and lots of it. The more he would produce, the bigger the fire will get.
The wasp arrived, Yuno could see it on the map. He could even hear them, due to Kisu shouting at them and ordering them around.
"Thanks, took them long enough." I could hear the sarcastic tone Kisu gave off. "He's been completely burned. Not to death, but, y'know? Pretty busy with that."
"Please, move on," Yuno groaned. "I'm in the middle of something. You don't need anymore help, do you?"
"Hehe," She laughed mockingly. "Nah, I'm just going to drop off the items to the client, get paid, and head back."
"Head back...where exactly?"
"I think you know,"
"Oh no..."
----------
"Guess who's here!" Kisu slammed the door open and shouted, the house practically shaking from her loud voice.
"How much louder do you have to be?" Yuno asked, pulling his headphones off as he entered the kitchen.
Kisu skipped over to the counter with a black grocery bag in her hand. She clumsily dumped it onto the table, allowing the paper bills and coins to spill out. Some of the coins started rolling and falling off the counter from how much there was.
"They paid a lot just for some new gaming equipment." Kisu scratched her head in confusion, but it's not she's complaining over more money.
"How much?" Yuno asked, tossing a bag of chips from the pantry to Kisu.
"Almost double the original price," Kisu caught the chips and ripped them open. He had thrown her some Doritos. "But hey, that's enough for me to get a shit ton of food. We split it, and I'm fair game."
"How about 60-30?" Yuno only messed with his bag, squeezing it once in a while to make a crinkle sound.
Kisu nearly choked on her chip at the statement. She coughed, covering her mouth and wiping after she recovered.
"60-40? 60-40?! What is wrong with you? You mean 'you get the 60, I get the 40' 60-40? Hell no! That's bullshittery at its finest!"
Yuno deadpanned at Kisu in response to her fit. "I have to pay bills for the house, it's not my fault you live in a dinky apartment. I have more to pay since it's a bigger place. Quit whining."
Kisu crossed her arms as she continued to stuff her face with chips. A few moments of silence went by when she suddenly threw her bags of chips at Yuno, making a messy trail of chips on the counter.
"You don't have any real food? Like actual food?"
Yuno picked up the now empty bag and cleaned up the mess, throwing it away not the trash under the sink. He dusted his hands in annoyance and opened the freezer. He pulled out a pack of instant food. It was an Alfredo pasta.
"Will this do?" Yuno gave a stern look, pressing his hand into the countertop.
Kisu looked up, keeping her head down like she was smaller then he was. "Yeah, that works. I'll get out of your hair after I eat this."
"Do what you will, it doesn't matter to me if you stay or not."
Kisu took the tray of food out of the box, and put it into the microwave, setting the timer to three minutes. As she waited, she leaned on the counter, looking up at Yuno once in a while.
She never really cared for features much, nor did she care about power, well, most of the time she didn't. Yuno is a very smart, strong and beautiful person. He's lean, has a good body, and he's somewhat muscular even though he doesn't do much physically.
His hair is brown and silky, no longer then just above the eyes. Sometimes it would get caught in his eyelashes, they were pretty long. His eyes are odd colors. Colors, because he is heterochromatic. His left eye is a light pink while his right eye is a sky blue color.
His Quirk, is unique to say the least. He likes to call it Hemakinesis, manipulation and control of blood. When his blood is spilled, he has the ability to control it. Like his own blood, he can control others blood, manipulating their bodies to move, twist, and contort in ways he wants them to.
He has the brain no normal person would have. If he wanted to make something, he could make it. Hell, he could deconstruct a car, then rebuild it to look and work the way he wants. He's logical, level-headed, and quick on his feet to make decisions.
Overall, he's just better then Kisu.
Sure she has an interesting Quirk, Clepto, which allows her the ability to take anything from someone without them noticing, so long as she's within at least 50 feet of the person. As if she's invisible, the items just fly right to her hands in a matter of seconds, and she retreats.
Her figure is average, skinny, with just enough body fat to make her look like she eats enough, and takes care of herself. Her white hair isn't silky smooth, but it's clean and not knotted. Her blue eyes are deep, but not attractive enough for anyone to stare at.
Yeah, she'd assume Yuno is better then her in every way. But that doesn't stop them from being the friends they are. They've known each other since kindergarten, they were neighbors. Yuno's mom knew Kisu's dad, although, there must have been some bad blood between the two since they were always sort of glaring at each other whenever the two children met up for a play date.
"Kisu, your food's done." Yuno pulled the tray out of the microwave, setting it next to Kisu's hand, which was twiddling with a fork. "You're spacing again."
"Huh? No, I'm not! What are you talking about?" Kisu shoved a fork full of noodles in her mouth.
"Well, I was hoping to catch your attention." Yuno put his laptop on the counter and began typing on it, searching for something. He then turned it around and showed a list of teenagers, listed to take an exam. "I wanted to talk to you about the UA examinees this year."
Kisu looked through the list of examinees, studying each picture, then looking at their Quirks and what course they applied for. There were definitely a lot, just like always.
As second years at UA, Kisu and Yuno could get caught in their activities. One would say they're villains, they say anti-heroes. Villains is such a harsh way to put it, they don't do more then petty crimes like stealing, for clients. Theft is a great way to make money. Yuno in particular just doesn't like heroes, but having access to all the future heroes, and even hiding among them, it's an easy way to shape society your own way. With how smart Yuno can be, it's easy to simply hack through the UA system.
"Heh," Kisu giggled. "Hehehe..."
"What are laughing about?" Yuno asked, tilting his head in confusion.
"It's just..." Kisu's hand shook as she laughed. "He looks like an angry Pomeranian with that spiky hair!"
Yuno turned the laptop around and looked at the examinee Kisu was talking about. Oh, he really did look like an angry Pomeranian.
One of the examinees, Katsuki Bakugo. Yuno always tries to look into the more interesting people applying for the exam. Katsuki Bakugo applied for the Hero Course, his Quirk is explosion. He sweats nitroglycerin, the more he sweats, the more destructive and powerful the explosion is.
"Won't you take this seriously?" Yuno closed the laptop. "Usually, the first thing you would look at is their capability, not their funny features."
"Come oooon," Kisu elbowed Yuno teasingly. "Loosen up, you want to be boring all your life?"
"I'm fine being boring all my life, it won't hurt me at all."
"You have no sense of humor."
Yuno sighed, seeing how he won't get through to her, he may as well leave it at that. "Alright, go home. I'm going to take a walk and clear my head after your scuff. You interrupted my schedule."
"Yeah, sure, your schedule where you game all day."
"Out!"
----------
Yuno walked along the beach, close enough to the water, but not so close that his shoes get wet. To stay more hidden, he decided it'd be good to wear at least a light jacket and keep his hood up so he wouldn't be recognized. After all, seeing someone with a blue and pink eye is pretty rememberable, and he definitely doesn't feel like wearing those annoying eye contacts.
"RAHHHHHHH!!" A shout, seemingly one of determination from the sound of it. Just a moment later, a green haired boy ran past him, with a blonde man riding on a tire that was being dragged by the teen boy.
Odd, Yuno thought to himself.
Yuno had recognized who that boy was, he was on the list of examinees who applied for UA. What were the chances he'd see him in real life before the exam. He looks so much scrawnier in real life.
Izuku Midoryia, he applied for the Hero Course. He went to the same school as Katsuki Bakugo, perhaps they know each other.
His Quirk was only labeled off as strength enhancement and nothing more. Very vague if you were to ask Yuno. Strength enhancement can mean more then just "hit harder." There could be different variations of strength.
"C'mon kid, pick it up! Exams are in a week and we don't have all day! I want my food!" The blonde man cheered, it sure didn't look like a cheer and more of a "hurry up."
Yuno decided to just watch the boy drag the tire, pulling the man along. From the look of it, seeing how they just kept going back and forth with different junk each time, it seemed like they were attempting to clean the beach. It would just get dirty again, people are known for dumping their garbage here.
Yuno's eyes followed the boy the entire time, as if nobody noticed he was even there. At some point, the boy had fallen over from exhaustion while a tire was on his shoulder. He lay there, panting and heaving like he ran a marathon, he probably did with all that movement.
"You alright?" Yuno squatted down and pulled out a small can of soda he had on hand.
"Eh?" The teen boy shuddered as the cold can was pressed against his neck. "Oh! Hello! I didn't notice you there."
"Clearly." Yuno gave the soda to the boy, earning a thank you in return.
"Ahh," the boy sighed. "Thanks for that, I forgot to bring my bottle to the side of the beach."
Who forgets a water bottle when they're doing this much work and exercise?
"No worries," Yuno smiled, although any close friend would be able to see that was such an act. "Don't forget to bring one next time."
"Yes!"
This boy, so scrawny and small. He didn't even look that strong. Yuno already knows not to judge a book by its cover, but how on earth does this little guy hold strength enhancement.
"Mm! I've seen you somewhere!" The boy almost choked on his soda. "The Sports Festival from last year! You placed second! I wondered how you were so strong even though you're in the Support Course." Like a child asking for a cookie, the boy reached for his notebook and held it open to write things down.
"You've got the wrong person," Yuno pushed the book down with a finger.
"Oh! Sorry, but, I know your Tsumuyuki-san. Anyone would notice with your eyes being mismatched like that. Plus, I always remember everything about UA and anything related to heroes."
Well, Yuno had been caught, thank goodness not in a way that risked his identity. Maybe he really should start wearing contacts.
"Can I at least know the name of the person who wants info on me?" Yuno teased, keeping up his act.
"Ah! I'm Izuku Midoryia, it's nice to meet you!"
"Midoryia-san," Yuno nodded. "Pleasure is all mine. Is there anything in particular you'd want to know?"
"Your Quirk!" Midoryia answered rather quickly. "Is it only your own blood you can control? Or can you access another person's blood as well."
"Mm, questions about my Quirk, huh? Why don't we walk a little and I'll explain? It seems you could use a break, I enjoy walking along the beach when I need a break."
"Of course! I'd like that."
Yuno caught a last glimpse of the blond man before they left. He was waving at Midoryia, giving him a thumbs up and a smile. Izuku gave an excited thumbs up back before turning around again.
That man, he's familiar looking. Yuno thought to himself. He looked all too similiar to the number one hero, All Might. Blond hair, a recognizable smile with flashy teeth. But this man looked pitiful and weak. Like a drug addict. All Might would never do that. He was strong and powerful and quite tall and large. Yuno questioned how All Might could've had a muscular structure like that, but it may have been partially due to his Quirk.
All Might's Quirk, it remained a mystery to the public. Since he was very, very young, Yuno's parents had wanted him to become stronger then All Might. As the number 3 heroes, they had a goal. That goal was to make Yuno the strongest hero.
Unfortunately, it never was accomplished.
Long years, Yuno spent time studying All Might, finding all he could about All Might and those who were close to him. When he was young, he was Quirkless. That made no sense whatsoever. How could he have been Quirkless, but he was the number one hero today? Those were the only peices of info Yuno had found, and then he gave up.
"Tsumuyuki-san?" Midoryia tapped Yuno's shoulder. "Are you alright?"
"Hm?" Yuno turned his head to Midoryia and blinked before replying. "Ah, yes. I'm fine, I space out sometimes when I'm thinking. An old habit of mine. I apolagize."
"It's okay! You don't have to be so formal either. I have a habit of muttering and rambling to myself when I'm the moment."
"That's good to know, thank you. Now, let's see, where were we?"
"I wanted to know if you could control others' blood."
"Right. The answer to that is, when the blood is outside the body, I only have the ability to control my own. Within the body, I can control anybody, sort of like a puppet if you will."
Midoryia wrote things down at a rapidly fast pace, making sure he got every word.
"Sorry if I'm prying, but could you tell me why you chose the Support Course? You're so strong, you could easily be the strongest in the Hero Course."
Curious little thing, I thought we were talking about just Quirks here.
"I can't say much, since I'd be spoiling the exam. Who knows if you're going to take the exam yourself. But I did in fact apply for the Hero Course."
"Did you fail?"
Blunt.
"Yes, I did. The exam wasn't suited to my abilities, so I wound up failing the practical exam. If I had gone farther then I did, I would've been vulnerable, a burden in a real battle. Although, my Quirk is not the only thing about me. I've studied hundreds of ways to do hundreds of different things. I had an idea of how my practical exam would go. So I ended up taking the Support Course exam, which I passed with flying colors. I guess my strong point wasn't in battle, but in creating and helping."
Again, Midoryia wrote every single word. Yuno was surprised his wrist hadn't cramped yet. It seemed it was his passion, to learn new things about as many heroes possible. Yuno did, technically, have a license of sort. The only thing that stopped him from doing actual hero work was his actions behind the scenes, and the fact that he's still only a second year at UA.
"Thank you so much, Tsumuyuki-san!" Midoryia bowed to show respect. Even though he only asked two questions, he most likely learned a lot about Yuno. "This will help me in the future, I have an idea of what to expect now."
Yuno perked up at that. Was Midoryia planning on taking the exam? It made sense with all the the things he'd been doing here at the beach. He was training, Yuno had come to realize.
"Don't tell anyone I gave you hints, alright?" Yuno put a finger to his lips, indicating a secret. "I might get in trouble for that."
"Hai!" Midoryia nodded rapidly, Yuno thought he would get dizzy.
Midoryia thanked Yuno once more and left to see the scrawny man again, so oddly familiar. It seemed that this Izuku Midoryia knew something, he had to. After that interaction, Yuno had come to the conclusion.
This would be a fun year.
