Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Blood in The Water III
"Dude, are you serious? That thing was designer!" He grits out, struggling against the creature while he watched in panic as claws dug into the Kevlar of his vest.
They cut through the vest like nothing, going through Kevlar before Peter pushed back against them as best he could.
All in all, Peter wasn't having that good of a time.
...
His shoulder was killing him, all the movement having messed up the make-shift bandage and making blood leak through. His side was not doing any better, either, blood spilling out slowly but surely.
Peter's skin itched, muscles burned and bones creaked but he was still there . Still conscious even if his brain had been rattled around in his skull a dozen times already.
Peter was still there and he was still Spider-Man . He could focus on the pain when he took the stupid mask off.
His head shot forward, headbutting the lizard directly on its snout hard enough he heard a crunch. Its grip faltered, Peter ripped his hand free from the tail and punched it in the face again and again until he heard another crunch and then a crack .
Stumbling from the impact, Peter kicked it off the pathway and into a wall hard enough it pushed a few of the bricks in. He wheezed, picking himself up and shooting a web into the deep gash on his side.
"I'm gonna let you know, you're being very difficult right now." He groaned, shooting another layer of webbing onto his shoulder with his sole web-shooter.
As the creature began to pick itself back up, Peter's eyes landed on a dirty nametag on its coat that was barely hanging on.
It was a name in English letters, Peter only being able to read 'Dr.' before the creature tackled him back into the water.
Peter nearly gasped as he entered the water again, it chilled his body and made the cuts and gashes all over him sting. He steeled himself, kicking the Lizard away as he began to realize how deep the water actually was.
Back at around the part of the tunnel he had come in from, everything was knee-deep. But here? The tunnel got deeper and deeper as you went into it, the area he was swimming in looked about 10 feet down.
Honestly, he hadn't been in enough sewers to know if this was a weird design choice or not.
Peter tried swimming up to the surface, quickly being dragged down by a clawed hand as his ears were filled with distorted roars.
Oh no.
Its grip tightened, Peter felt the Lizard's claws break through the material of his suit and dig into his ankle lightly. Blood began to float up to the surface, passing Peter as he focused on the figure below him.
Still holding his breath, Peter kicked at the claw over and over with his free foot. The murky depths blurred his vision, the only thing Peter could see was the outline of the creature below him and those yellow eyes in the darkness.
Peter's spent way too many nights watching old horror movies to know how cliche it would be if he died right there.
With one more kick, stronger than the last, the claw recoiled and let go as the Lizard snarled in pain. Now free, Peter began swimming toward the wall on the surface as he felt his lungs begin to struggle without oxygen.
Growling, the creature began to swim up after him, getting kicked back down once Peter got the warning in the back of his skull.
His hand broke the surface, his remaining web-shooter shooting a line to the roof, Peter quickly pulling himself into the air and falling back onto the stone path.
Pulling his mask up to his nose, Peter coughed up the water in his lungs, ignoring how they burned and ached.
In the back of his head, there was a vibration.
Thinking quickly, the boy rolled onto his back just as the Lizard leaped up from the water and onto him. Peter kicked his legs upward, sticking the soles of his feet to the creature's abdomen before swinging his legs back, throwing it back through a wall roughly.
"A part of me feels like you don't want to talk." He coughed, stumbling to his feet as the creature growled. "Was it something I said?"
God, he wished there was a faster way to resolve the situation other than just punching this guy a lot.
Seriously, something told him that that concussion from earlier was gonna start kicking in soon.
If that's how they worked, he still wasn't sure.
A few of the bricks on the ceiling fell into the water from the impact, Peter could hear how a pipe burst somewhere in the hole the Lizard was in.
His spider-sense buzzed lightly, Peter quickly noticed a clawed hand coming out of the darkness to grip the wall.
Distantly, Peter could feel the mental exhaustion seeping into his bones.
You'd have to understand him, it's been a pretty long past 2 weeks.
Slowly, he raised his fists and widened his stance, looking back at the yellow eyes in the darkness.
Screeching, the Lizard leaped onto from the darkness, Peter catching the heavy monster before slamming it onto the old stone pathway he stood on.
Stone cracked under the impact, Peter suddenly felt something wrap around his foot before he was swung into the ceiling, then flung high into a wall.
God, his back was killing him.
Guess this Lizard guy had competition in that department, huh?
Twisting his body, ignoring the way his bones creaked and how his mind cursed jumping this stupid sewer, he caught himself by his hands and feet, quickly flying through the air and kicking the Lizard in the jaw.
The creature stumbled, Peter shot a web midair, pulled himself to the ceiling while landing a knee to the side of the Lizard's head along the way.
"Do you know how much easier this would be for me if you were unconscious right now?" Peter asked, looking down at it from the ceiling. "A lot easier. Like, guessing-Mirko-is-gonna-kick-my-ass-after-this level easy"
A part of him wondered if she'd take it easy on him when she saw he was basically holding himself together with webbing, the adrenaline in his veins and a few jokes that, in all honesty, weren't that funny.
Which was a horrible physical condition to be in, but it was a familiar one he found himself in more than he'd like.
Peter didn't know if that last part was sad or not.
Shooting a web and pulling the Lizard's feet out from under it, Peter leaped at it as it tried to pick itself up before punching it in the face.
With one of his claws, the creature back handed him away into the air, Peter shooting a web and pulling himself back at the Lizard as it began to get back up. The boy's eyes and one functional lens widened as it saw the creature weave out of the way as he flew by, grabbing him by the foot and launching him into a wall too fast for him to react.
His back hit the wall hard, Peter quickly felt the texture of the bricks behind him before he was pushed further into the wall as the creature leaped at him.
It roared in his face, it's giant body towering over him as it snapped his jaws down at his head. Peter cursed, leaning out of the way and punching it in the snout as hard as he could when fighting someone.
This was way too close and personal for him.
Screeching, its tail snaked around its body and once again wrapped itself around his throat. Immediately, his hands flew up to his head, grabbing the tail and trying to rip it off.
Peter watched as it brought its four fingered claw up to his chest once again, not missing how the hold on his neck tightened just the slightest bit.
It hurt to breathe, his throat squeezed too tight for a lot of air to pass through down to his lungs. A choked sound escaped him, feeling the tail constrict around him even more.
"This again? C-Can't you come up with new moves, buddy?" The joke came out quieter than he wanted it to, Peter gritted his teeth and kept trying to rip his way free.
Trying to make stupid jokes to stay calm was harder than usual when you were being choked. Probably made it even harder since he had nearly drowned at least twice in the last 10 or so minutes.
It honestly wouldn't surprise him if he hadn't gotten all the water out of his lungs earlier, the whole difficulty breathing had been bothering him for a bit.
But who knew? Maybe it was the continued blunt force trauma that had been going on.
A sharp pain snapped him out of his thoughts, Peter craned his head down as much as it could to see the Lizard cutting through the Kevlar of his vest once again, its claws grazing his skin.
A bit of panic flowed through his veins, fighting with adrenaline for what mindset Peter would have during this.
Planting his feet onto the Lizard's chest, Peter did his best to try and push it away and back into the water below. Darkness danced around his vision, his body began moving slower than before.
Snarling, the creature finally pierced his chest by less than an inch. Peter shook, gritting his teeth to keep the silent scream down.
It probably wouldn't have made a sound, anyway.
His legs kept pushing, claws stabbed into the brick to keep the creature in place. He could start to feel conscious slipping away, the only sensations present in his mind being the pain in his chest and the exhaustion in his mind.
A thought passed through him, a realization of how this situation was probably gonna end.
Peter was dying.
