Chapter 8: Review.
Having concluded the exercise William walks back to where the rest of the class is, Madow lets Luxanna and Samael out of the water dome and lets it flow into the sewers.
All Might clapped his hands to call the student's attention, "So, let's review the results of the exercise, heroes first." Samael and Luxanna are barely up but they're listening.
"Madow and Luxanna, you got separated right off the bat and didn't communicate for the entire exercise. Madow, You had no plan, and your partner got captured easily while you were distracted and lost more than half of your time on a single opponent"
"Luxanna, you were very imprudent in thinking that William couldn't be a threat without a quirk, and was easily taken out with a good strategy for most of the exercise, he only left you in the exercise so he could use you to get closer to Madow later."
"But, Madow you did handle the situation very well using your powerful quirk in conjunction with the environment, getting a great advantage by dominating the playing field. But a simple mistake almost cost you the entire match, William had covered the entire room the bomb was in explosives, it was quite lucky of you to not trigger them."
"Your teamwork was nonexistent, the strategy was improvised and victory was only achieved through brute force. In a real situation as delicate as this, a villain wouldn't have thought twice about blowing up the bomb early or having killed your ally, sadly not everything can be solved with a good fight."
Luxanna just listens, being too tired to even respond. Madow on the other hand has some things to say. "First, I was correct about being careful of bombs, after all, so you two can take back your laughter."
"Second, yes I'll admit that I was too confident in StarLux abilities, that's why I spent so much time using Lucifer to acquire a large amount of water in a short time."
"Third, I didn't use the radio because I was going to leave any planning for after getting the water, or in emergencies. I didn't ask for a status report due to my completely unfounded faith in StarLux, and I assumed she'd say something if something happened"
"So overall I should better my control over steam, my ability to feel using my water, teamwork and absolutely never believe that Lux can do anything ever again." Lux mutters something but is too weak to be heard.
"I understand the trust in your partner but don't forget that this exercise was also to get to know each other better in combat. Luxanna did her best, and her capabilities should be recognized, even with her hastiness and irritability, She's still a diamond to be polished, just like you." With this Madows nods, then goes to get the water off the classmates he got wet when the cloud landed before sitting down to watch the next fights.
"Now, for the villain team. Lucifer, you got careless and underestimated your opponent. You exhausted yourself while taking the enemy to their domain and granting them a huge advantage. You completely ignored William's strategy of leaving him in a low-humidity environment and making him weaker with your power. But you were great at keeping him occupied for most of the exercise."
"William, your strategy of using mirrors against Luxanna and silicate against Madow was noteworthy. You secured the bomb with explosives. Captured one of the heroes by yourself and used her to get close to Madow, then used a hallucinogenic to turn them against each other for the rest of the match. If it wasn't for the huge advantage Madow acquired earlier, the victory would have surely been yours. But you left the arena too soon, and trusted your partner and trap a bit too much, neither having the intended effect."
"This exercise only proves the potential that lies within all of you, I'm excited to see you all in action. Now, the next team is-" And so they spent the rest of class having the other matches, Madow watching intently to learn as much as he could.
The class is walking back talking about their fights, Madow is quietly thinking. "...Damm the way you blocked those knives with your sword? Was straight up FIRE! Nice one, Samira."
"Style is power, babyy" She revels in the attention.
"Marcus appreciates the way Samira fights." He says in the third person.
"All the fights were pretty impressive, especially his." Says Alex while bumping into Madow's shoulder.
Madow being prompted finally says something. "Well yeah, you all fought 2v2s, I fought a 1v3"
William responds playfully. "And you're quite resilient, huh, blowfish"
"It's Bohai actually, and of course I'm resilient, I barely got hit head-on." Madow is starting to become a bit less stiff while talking. "Nice planning by the way. I should have just told Luxanna to wait outside and do nothing."
"Looks like the both of us got dragged down by partners innit?" They both laugh.
"In my defense, I didn't expect his control over water to be of such a high level." Lucifer says without taking much offense.
"I mean, throwing me at what is essentially a flying lake still wasn't a good idea."
"Pretty shitty in fact." Adds William.
"Also nice job with the bombs, they actually work extra well underwater."
"Yeah, I expected you to fill up the room with water, but you got the whole building wet. Those bombs should have taken a good long while to disarm."
"And those two over there were laughing at me for being paranoid." He points at Rex and Viktoria.
"Nah man, you panicking while a giant statue of teach was inside the bomb was just hilarious." Rex snickers while remembering.
"Sorry, Madow, it was just so funny. But we weren't laughing at you being careful tough." Viktoria explains herself.
"Oh. Guess I was a bit hasty then." Madow feels a bit more comfortable around his class
