MHA : QUIRK EVOLUTION

Chapter 87: Chapter 87 : Hero Killer

Cementoss paused for a moment, then chuckled.

"Nah, we should be happy instead. The first-year matches have never been this exciting before."

"That's true. Society is advancing, U.A. is advancing, and these students are getting better and better."

"Ah, whatever. Let's hurry up and get to work, or we'll go over the competition's time limit."

Todoroki Shoto and Bakugo Katsuki had already fought, and there weren't many strong contenders left. After the arena was repaired, the matches continued immediately, but most were decided within minutes.

Ezaki Kitazawa's semifinal match ended in an instant as well. Meanwhile, Midoriya Izuku also made it to the finals. However, since Ezaki Kitazawa didn't bother watching the matches, he had no idea who Midoriya had fought. In the final match, Midoriya had already injured an arm, so he forfeited without even fighting.

And just like that, Ezaki Kitazawa was crowned champion without much effort.

"With that, all events of this year's U.A. Sports Festival have concluded! The champion of the 240th U.A. Sports Festival first-year division is… from the Hero Course, Ezaki Kitazawa!"

Present Mic announced excitedly.

"Now, let's move on to the award ceremony!" Midnight followed up.

As soon as she finished speaking, a swarm of reporters rushed down from the stands, cameras flashing as they started taking pictures. Ezaki Kitazawa went through the motions of the ceremony, bored out of his mind. Before he knew it, time had passed, and the sky had already turned a golden hue.

**Class 1-A**

"Good job, everyone! Because of your hard work, the school will be on break for the next two days. As for the workplace internships, Pro Heroes who watched the festival will likely send out offers during this time. The school will organize everything and announce the placements after the break."

Aizawa Shouta spoke in his usual laid-back tone.

"Yes, sir!"

The class responded in unison.

"Alright, I have some things to take care of, so I'll be leaving. You're free to go once the time's up."

With that, Aizawa turned and walked out of the classroom.

"Ezaki-kun, your matches were amazing!"

Yaoyorozu Momo turned to him, her eyes filled with admiration.

The conversation caught the attention of nearby students, and soon, a crowd gathered around.

"That's right! Ezaki, you might be the first U.A. student in history to have your moves banned by the school."

Kaminari Denki said with a laugh.

"And not just one, but two! Are all your moves this terrifying?"

Uraraka Ochako mused, rubbing her chin.

"Terrifying? I don't think so."

Ezaki Kitazawa replied casually.

Just as he finished speaking, a voice suddenly called out from the classroom.

"Ezaki-kun, look at this!"

Jiro Kyoka squeezed through the crowd, holding up her phone. She handed it to Ezaki Kitazawa, who glanced at the screen. It was a trending news article.

The headline read: **"U.A.'s Strongest First-Year in History! Moves Banned for Being Too Powerful"**

Skimming through the article, it was full of exaggerated claims, calling him a "new symbol of peace in the making" and even speculating that he might surpass All Might one day. The comment section was filled with heated debates—some people supporting Ezaki, others defending All Might.

"These reporters… They'll write anything just to get attention."

 Ezaki Kitazawa frowned.

"And that's not all. The top three trending articles are all about you."

Jiro Kyoka added.

Ezaki Kitazawa paused, glanced back at the screen, then handed the phone back to her.

"Whatever, not interested."

"Well, it's true. Most reporters these days just write whatever grabs the most attention."

Yaoyorozu Momo stood to the side and said, "Well, at least one good thing is that Ezaki Kitazawa's reputation is going to rise because of this."

Kirishima Eijiro laughed and said, "As for fame, Ezaki Kitazawa doesn't really care much. After all, it's useless to him."

When the school bell rang, Ezaki Kitazawa picked up his bag like always and headed home. But since the usual roads were under construction, he had to take a detour. To save time, he usually walked through the alleys, which made the route shorter.

Halfway through, he noticed someone following him. The next second, he stopped and turned around. At that moment, a figure stepped out from the corner.

The man looked like some kind of warrior—carrying a long sword, with bandages wrapped around his hands and legs, and something like an eye patch covering one of his eyes. Compared to the way most people dressed, he looked completely out of place.

But Ezaki Kitazawa knew who he was—Stain, the Hero Killer. His identity was unique; he was a man who specifically hunted down and killed pro heroes.

Still, one thing puzzled Ezaki Kitazawa. "I'm not even a pro hero… so why is this guy after me?"
