Chapter 30: Training Pt. 1
"So what do you guys think of Aizawa sensei?" Kaminari asked out loud as he opened his gym locker, "Seems pretty intense."
Bakugo snorted, "You mean he's got a stick shoved up his ass, I can already tell he's going to make our lives a living hell."
"You should be more respectful when talking about our teachers!" Ida chastised Bakugo with a glare as he stepped out of his pants, careful not to get the legs snagged on the exhaust pipes sticking out of his calves, "All of them have dedicated their lives to the betterment of others!"
"Listen just cause you spend all your time on your knees worshiping them doesnt me I have to," Bakugo spat back as he slammed his locker door shut, "Besides once I graduate it's only a matter of time before I become the number one pro-hero. Once that happens they'll be happy enough to brag that they had me in their class."
Ida jaw clenched as he stared at Bakugo with steely cold eyes, "Your arrogance will be the end of you on day."
Bakugo rolled his eyes, "Whatever four eyes."
Even though the conversation ended the boy's locker room was tense as people changed in silence. Having watched the entire interaction Kenji could only shake his head in disbelief as he pulled his shirt over his head, 'I know their personalities are exact opposites, but wasn't that a bit much.'
Putting his thoughts aside as there was nothing he could do Kenji glanced at the clock and saw that Aizawa's deadline was drawing closer, 'Time to get going.'
---
Slowing down his jog to a quick walk as the doors to training hall A came into view Kenji stepped into the room with only a few minutes to spare. With several people right on his heels Kenji was forced to move further into the room but he couldn't help but slow his steps as he looked around the training hall.
The indoor space was absolutely massive, at least the size of a sports arena, with a high vaulted ceiling far ahead covered in a glass dome letting the sun high overhead shine down, lighting up the room.
But perhaps even more impressive was what the room contained, a wide running track traced the outer ring of the room isolating a flat floor in the center. Instead of turf or sand however the floor was a network of black hexagonal panels, but besides looking expensive Kenji couldn't see an obvious purpose to their design.
"Hey quit staring and move it, you're slowing me down,"
Kenji looked over his shoulder and met two beady black eyes surrounded by thick tan rings that belonged to Tetsutetsu who was capable of turning his skin into a steel like substance.
Feeling the waves of hostility roll off him Kenji simply shrugged and turned back around ignoring Tetsutetsu and moving to join the group of others who had arrived before him.
Kenji barely stopped walking when he felt a gaze brush against his back and he looked over to see Uraraka staring at him nervously. The girl jumped as they made eye contact and she blushed before looking away quickly.
Rolling his eyes, Kenji made his way over to Uraraka, "You know you can talk to me right?"
Uraraka blushed, "I-I k-know it's just that-"
"Hey ya Uraraka, how are you doing!?"
In a flash of pink a girl was suddenly standing next to Uraraka, an arm thrown over her shoulder, "A-ashido…where did you come from?"
The pinked haired girl brushed aside the quest with a wave of her hand, "Doesn't matter, how about you introduce me to your friend here."
Sensing no small amount of animosity coming from Ashido, Kenji decided to speak up, "I'm a bit disappointed you forgot already, I'm Kenji Aotoma. You can call me Kenji."
Ashido raised an eyebrow, "That's a bit informal don't you think? We've only just met."
Kenji shrugged, "Actually we haven't met at all, you still haven't introduced yourself."
"Mina Ashido," Ashido responded, her black and yellow eyes narrowing slightly, "So how did you and Uraraka know each other."
Before Kenji could respond Uraraka took a step away and whirled on her friend, "P-please stop interrogating him Ashido, I met Kenji during the exam we formed a party and helped each other out."
Ashido blinked before an easy going smile spread across her face, "Sorry I don't know what came over me, didn't mean to be so intense. I'll leave you two alone…nice to meet you Kenji!"
And just like that she was gone leaving as quickly as she came. Uraraka let out a long sigh as she glanced at Kenji apologetically, "Sorry about that."
Kenji shrugged, "It's fine, but she seems oddly protective of you, did you know her from before?"
Uraraka shook her head, "No, but we've talked non-stop since the start of class. She's actually really funny believe it or not."
"I believe you," Kenji said with a nod of his head, "I just want to know what I did to originally upset her."
Uararka opened her mouth to respond when the doors to the room slammed shut and everyone looked over to see Aizawa walking over his face set in an emotionless mask.
"I'll ask her about it later," Uraraka whispered just as Aizawa stopped in front of the class.
"Good you're all here, at least I don't have to beat the importance of preparedness into you," Aizawa murmured his voice barely audible, "In order to create the most efficient training programs today you will be tasked with a live demonstration of your quirk. When your name is called step forward and tell me the name of your quirk along with any weakness or limitations you have. Any questions?"
"Yeah I have a question, why the hell would we announce our weaknesses out loud?" A familiar brash voice spoke up and the entire class looked over to stare at Bakugo as if he had grown a second head.
