Chapter 70: Bakugo x Y/N
It was a crisp Friday evening, and the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting an orange hue across the city. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blossoming cherry blossoms, heralding the arrival of spring. Your heart raced in anticipation as you and Katsuki Bakugo prepared for your date. After weeks of battling emotions and navigating the complexities of high school romance, you had finally gotten the chance to go out together.
"Are you ready yet?" Bakugo called from the living room, his voice slightly impatient but laced with excitement. You couldn't help but smile at his gruff demeanor; it was part of what you loved about him.
"Just a minute!" you shouted back, adjusting your outfit in the mirror. You wore a simple but cute dress that highlighted your features without being flashy—a perfect balance for a casual yet special night out.
When you finally emerged, Bakugo's eyes widened slightly before smirking. "Not bad, Y/N. Let's go."
As you both stepped out into the cool evening air, a sense of warmth and giddiness enveloped you. The city was alive with lights and sounds, and laughter echoed from nearby cafes and shops. You felt like a couple right out of a romantic movie, and it made your heart flutter.
Bakugo took your hand in his, an act that felt both tender and electrifying. As you strolled down the street together, snatching moments of laughter and banter, you felt the weight of the world lift—a rare moment of peace amidst the chaos that was hero training and schoolwork.
Unbeknownst to you, two familiar figures watched from a corner, leaning against a streetlamp. Denki Kaminari and Eijiro Kirishima had decided to grab a late-night snack after hanging out at the arcade and had never expected to see their hot-headed friend and his partner out on a date.
"Whoa, is that Bakugo?" Denki whispered, his eyes wide with disbelief. "And is that Y/N? Are they actually… dating?"
"Looks like it," Kirishima replied, equally stunned. "I mean, it makes sense, but I would have thought they'd keep it under wraps for a bit longer. They seem really close."
As you and Bakugo laughed over something ridiculous he had said, Kirishima elbowed Denki, both of them trying to process the sight before them.
"Should we say something?" Kirishima asked, unsure if it was wise to interrupt this personal moment.
"We can't just leave them like this! What if they find out we were spying?" Denki said, animatedly waving his hands. "I mean, what if we pretend we just happened to be here?"
"Are you kidding me? If we do that, Bakugo will explode! We have to be careful," Kirishima cautioned, trying to rein in his overly energetic friend.
Meanwhile, you and Bakugo strolled along, completely unaware of your friends' watchful gaze. You suggested trying out a new ramen place that had opened recently, and Bakugo agreed, albeit begrudgingly.
"Fine, but if it's trash, I'm holding you responsible," he quipped, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
The two of you walked into the quaint ramen shop, the warm light spilling out onto the street. Just as you found a cozy booth in the corner, Denki and Kirishima made their entrance, excitement in their eyes.
"There they are!" Denki exclaimed, a little too loudly as he pointed. You turned around in surprise, your cheeks flushing as you locked eyes with them.
"Hey! What are you guys doing here?" you asked, feeling caught off guard.
"Oh, you know, just... eating late dinner!" Denki said, flashing you both a grin that stretched ear to ear.
Bakugo glared at them, his expression shifting quickly from surprise to annoyance. "Seriously? You couldn't have picked a different ramen shop?"
Kirishima, trying to ease the tension, threw his hands up defensively. "We didn't know you were here, man! We thought we'd just grab a bite!"
You looked between Bakugo and your friends, suppressing laughter as Bakugo's irritation simmered. "You two can't just pop up wherever we go," he muttered, crossing his arms in frustration.
"Aw, come on, Bakugo! We're just excited for you guys! You look really cute together," Denki chirped, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Shut up!" Bakugo shot back, his cheeks tinged with crimson. You couldn't help but chuckle. His anger always had a hint of embarrassment, and you found it endearing.
Kirishima decided to intervene. "How about we all just sit together? We can make it a group date!"
You glanced at Bakugo, who was still fuming but appeared to be softening at the idea. With a sigh, he relented. "Fine. But I swear, if you make this awkward…"
"Awkward? Us? Never," Denki laughed, sliding into the booth beside Kirishima.
As the night unfolded, the four of you shared stories and laughter over bowls of steaming ramen, the initial tension melting away into a warm camaraderie. It wasn't the perfect date you had envisioned, but it certainly turned out to be memorable, and somehow, it felt right.
You glanced at Bakugo, who, despite his grumpy exterior, had a small smile tugging at his lips. You realized that whether it was just the two of you or a chaotic group, the moments spent with him were what truly mattered. And as Denki and Kirishima recounted their own misadventures, you felt content just to be by his side.
