Chapter 31: HALLOWEEN NIGHT
A Halloween to Remember
Perspective 1: Bakugo
Bakugo stood at the edge of his driveway, adjusting his costume. This year, he was dressed as a fearsome dragon, scales painted in fiery red and black. "You all better keep up!" he shouted over his shoulder to the Bakusquad: Mina, Sero, Kirishima, and Denki. "I'm not waiting for losers who can't keep pace. And remember, my neighborhood has the best candy!"
"Yeah, yeah, we heard it a hundred times," scoffed Kirishima, dressed as a noble knight.
They set off, their bags in hand, ready for a night of candy conquest. As they trotted down the street, Bakugo's competitive spirit surged. He reluctantly felt a sense of camaraderie with his friends, but he'd never admit it. Each door they approached felt like a battle. He attacked the first three houses with the intensity of a fight, shouting his signature "MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!" when a kid hesitated before his approach.
Perspective 2: Deku
Meanwhile, across town, the Deku Squad ambled through the U.A. neighborhood. Deku wore his All Might costume, oblivious to the jealous glares from passersby enamored with his authentic getup. He carried Eri, who was dressed as a little witch, her wide eyes sparkling with excitement. "Look, Eri! A dragon!" he pointed as the Bakusquad rushed by. "Wait, isn't that Kacchan?"
"Yeah, he looks like he's about to explode," Shoto replied, dressed as a snowman but managing to pull off a cool demeanor regardless of the costume choice.
Ochako twirled around them, her space-themed outfit swirling playfully. "Let's get some candy ourselves! Eri's counting on us!"
As they rang doorbells, Deku was impressed by Eri's enthusiasm. Each "trick or treat!" boomed with innocent glee, and soon they had bags overflowing with sweets, not just for them but to share with the little girl they all adored. She giggled at every piece of candy they obtained, and Deku couldn't help but feel warmth bloom in his chest.
Perspective 3: League of Villains
In stark contrast, the League of Villains moved through a more affluent neighborhood in the darkened city, the eerie whispers of Halloween wrapping around them like a fog. Dressed in their own cryptic costumes—Toga with a cutesy Frankenstein outfit, Twice drifting in and out of phases as a multi-faced monster—there was an exhilarating thrill in their undertaking.
"Is this what kids do on Halloween?" Toga giggled as she approached a house, a mischievous glint in her eye.
"Don't act like a total creep, Toga! We're not here to scare them," Dabi warned, though a smirk crossed his face, envisioning animated reactions they could provoke. "Just blend in, or else Kurogiri will have to warp us away."
Shigaraki, covered in matted rags to fit the vibe of a zombie, scoffed. "As if we could ever blend in. Just grab the candy and move on." He barely touched a bowl-filled pumpkin, sending it flying with a careless flick of his wrist. Laughter rang out, dark and mirthless, as they gathered their loot, enjoying a night ironically made for children.
Perspective 4: Dabi
"A bunch of idiots out here just collecting sugary poison," Dabi muttered, glancing sideways at Kurogiri, who was disguised as a sophisticated butler. "But I have to admit, it's mildly entertaining, seeing them all in silly outfits. Look at that Deku kid trying way too hard for candy."
Kurogiri chuckled softly, his eyes observing Toga as she dug into a bucket of candy with wild abandon, her giggles rising above the usual Halloween chatter.
"Maybe we do belong here, if only for tonight," Kurogiri mused, igniting a thought of camaraderie that was rare in their world. Dabi shook his head but felt a twisted sense of satisfaction watching the chaos unfold as they collected candy in style.
Perspective 5: Mina
As the night wore on, Mina wanted to savor the fun with the Bakusquad. She could see the rivalry with Deku's squad bubbling just beneath the surface, especially since they crossed paths near a big house adorned with elaborate decorations.
"Let's challenge them for the best haul!" she suggested with a gleeful grin. Bakugo rolled his eyes, but a slight smile crept in. This was the night to let loose, after all.
They bounded over the street, determined to outdo their friends, stealing competitive glances and laughter along the way. With every door they knocked, Bakugo's explosive energy pulled them forward, and Mina could feel the bonds of friendship tightening around them like a well-worn spell that Halloween cast.
In that moment, amidst laughter, candy, and friendly rivalry, Halloween was more than just a night of tricks or treats; it was a tapestry of memories being woven together by the quirks and hearts of heroes—and even villains.
As the night sky twinkled above, an unexpected sense of unity enveloped them all on that eerie yet enchanting Halloween, where laughter and friendship triumphed over competition, even amidst the wildness of heroes and villains alike.
