Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Deep conversation

As the car rolled smoothly away from UA, Aiden sat back in his seat, his hands resting on his knees, trying to relax after the eventful day. Across from him sat Seraphine and Kaela, their armour clinking lightly as they shifted in their seats.

The luxurious interior of the car, with its dark wood accents and plush leather seats, made the atmosphere feel comfortable, though there was still an air of formality.

"Quite the impression you made today," Kaela commented with a slight smirk, her arms crossed. "You certainly know how to draw attention, even when you're trying not to."

Aiden chuckled, shaking his head. "Wasn't exactly my goal to cause a scene. But then again, with you two showing up in full armour, it's hard *not* to turn heads."

Seraphine tilted her head slightly, raising an eyebrow. "We were following standard protocol. You know we're always prepared for anything. But I have to admit," she added with a sly smile, "it was amusing watching that small one, Mineta, squirm."

Aiden grinned at that, remembering Mineta's reaction to their glares. "Yeah, you two practically turned him into a puddle with just a look. He's harmless, though. Just... a bit too much at times."

Kaela leaned forward slightly, her tone more serious now. "What do you make of your new classmates? Are they a good fit for you?"

Aiden thought for a moment, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. "They seem cool. Different, definitely. Most of them don't know about Paradis, and no one's aware of my quirk yet. Which is kind of nice, to be honest. It's like starting fresh."

Seraphine nodded approvingly. "That's good. It'll allow you to blend in more easily. But don't forget, you're not just any student. You have a duty to uphold the standards of the royal family, even if you're away from home."

Aiden rolled his eyes playfully but nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Believe me, I'm not going to do anything that'll cause any issues." Then, with a grin, he added, "I'm just here to learn and have a bit of fun on the side."

Kaela raised an eyebrow. "Fun, huh? Just remember, we're here to make sure nothing gets out of hand. If it does, we'll be there to step in."

"Of course," Aiden said with a smirk. "You've both been reminding me of that every chance you get. But I think I can handle it. It's not like anyone here knows the full extent of what I can do, and that's fine by me."

Seraphine gave a small smile, her usual strict demeanour softening just a bit. "We know. But we're still keeping a close eye on you, Your Highness. Just in case."

The title 'Your Highness' made Aiden scrunch his nose in mild annoyance. "Can you two stop with the 'Your Highness' stuff when it's just us? It's weird hearing it all the time. I get enough of that back home."

Kaela laughed lightly. "Fine, Aiden. But don't expect that leniency outside of this car."

"Deal," Aiden replied with a chuckle, glancing out the window as the city zoomed by.

For a moment, the car was silent as they each relaxed into their seats. Aiden glanced at Seraphine, who seemed deep in thought.

"What's on your mind?" he asked.

Seraphine looked at him, her expression thoughtful. "Just thinking about your future, Aiden. You're on a path that few in the royal family have taken. Training to be a hero, attending UA… it's a different life than what was expected of you."

Aiden smiled, leaning his head back against the seat. "Yeah, but that's what I like about it. I'm not stuck in some rigid routine. I get to see the world, meet new people, and figure out what I want for myself."

Kaela glanced at him, her expression more serious. "And what *do* you want, Aiden? You've always been curious and adventurous, but have you thought about the long term?"

Aiden shrugged. "To be honest? Not really. I'm just taking things as they come. I'm here to learn and experience new things. I don't have all the answers yet, but I figure I've got time to figure it out."

Seraphine gave him a small smile. "Just don't forget who you are in the process. You're royalty, but more than that, you're someone who will make a difference. Whether it's on the battlefield or as a leader, we believe in you."

Aiden grinned at that. "Thanks, Seraphine. I'll try not to disappoint."

The car continued its journey, with the city lights twinkling outside, the conversation fading into comfortable silence as they approached their residence.

As the car rolled along the bustling streets of the city, Aiden suddenly perked up and leaned forward. "Hey, change of plans!" he called to the driver, tapping on the partition. "Can you take us to a pet store?"

Seraphine shot him a curious look. "A pet store? You're serious?"

Aiden grinned and nodded. "Yeah, I feel like getting a pet. Something small, cute, and soft—something I can keep around for fun."

Kaela chuckled from her seat beside him. "That's a bit random, even for you. Any idea what kind of pet you want?"

Aiden shrugged, still smiling. "Not really. I'll figure it out when I get there. I just want something I can chill with after school."

Seraphine sighed but didn't argue. "Fine, but let's make this quick. We're not trying to draw more attention than we already do."

Within a few minutes, the car smoothly changed course, heading toward a nearby pet shop. As they pulled up, Aiden's excitement grew.

The store had a warm, welcoming atmosphere with large windows showcasing all kinds of animals—puppies, kittens, birds, and even some exotic creatures.

As he stepped out of the car, Aiden's eyes lit up as he glanced inside. "Let's see what they've got."

The two guards followed him into the store, drawing some curious glances from passersby as they walked through the door. Aiden wandered through the aisles, his eyes scanning the animals in their enclosures.

Puppies yapped, kittens purred, and various small animals hopped around in their cages.

He stopped in front of a section with small, fluffy creatures—rabbits, hamsters, and chinchillas. A particularly soft-looking white chinchilla caught his eye. It had big, round eyes and a tiny nose that twitched as it looked up at him.

Aiden knelt down, grinning. "Well, aren't you adorable."

The chinchilla tilted its head, almost as if it was examining him too. Without hesitation, Aiden motioned to the store clerk. "I'll take this one."

The clerk came over with a smile. "Great choice! Chinchillas are very friendly and soft. You'll need to get a cage and some supplies too."

As the clerk gathered everything, Seraphine stood behind Aiden, arms crossed. "A chinchilla? Really?"

Aiden shrugged. "It's cute, small, and soft. Just what I wanted."

Kaela smirked. "It suits you, I guess. And at least it won't cause too much trouble."

After everything was set, they loaded the supplies and the chinchilla into the car. Aiden sat back with the small creature in a portable cage on his lap, grinning. "I think I'll name him Nimbus. Yeah, that sounds right."

Seraphine and Kaela exchanged amused glances as the car continued its ride. "Nimbus it is," Kaela said with a grin. "Let's hope he's as chill as you are."

Aiden laughed. "I have a feeling we'll get along just fine."

...

Back at the newly purchased villa, Aiden stepped out of the car and was greeted at the door by his personal maid, Elara Ackerman. She was only 18, but her family had a long history of serving the royal family, and her dedication was evident in every action.

Her warm smile, kind eyes, and graceful movements made her a trusted presence in Aiden's life.

"Welcome home, Your Highness," Elara said softly, bowing her head slightly. "I trust your first day went well?"

Aiden nodded, a relaxed smile on his face. "Yeah, it was good. I even picked up a new pet." He gestured to the cage holding Nimbus, who stared out with curious eyes.

Elara's face lit up with a gentle smile. "How adorable. Would you like me to prepare a bath for you?"

Aiden stretched his arms and nodded. "Yeah, that sounds perfect. Nimbus could use a little scrub too. He's pretty chill, so it'll be easy."

Elara led him to the bathing area, her movements always graceful and attentive. She had become accustomed to Aiden's needs and preferences, and he, in turn, had grown used to her careful care.

After filling the tub with warm water, scented with subtle herbs, she turned to Aiden.

"The bath is ready, Your Highness. Shall I assist you?"

Without hesitation, Aiden began removing his robes, a familiar routine by now. Elara helped him into the bath, her hands careful and steady as she gently poured water over his shoulders.

Aiden, comfortable in the process, let out a contented sigh as the warmth surrounded him.

Nimbus, meanwhile, sat calmly on the edge of the tub, seemingly aware of the bath's purpose. Elara smiled at the little chinchilla. "He's well-behaved, isn't he?"

Aiden grinned. "Yeah, he's a good little guy. Didn't give me any trouble at all."

Elara reached out, carefully lifting Nimbus and giving him a gentle scrub as well, mindful of his soft fur. The chinchilla remained still, enjoying the attention as Elara worked.

After a while, Aiden leaned back in the tub, relaxing. "Thanks, Elara. You always know how to make things better."

"It's my honour, Your Highness," she replied softly, her hands steady as she continued to care for him and his new pet.

The atmosphere was peaceful, with only the sound of water and the occasional soft squeak from Nimbus.

Once the bath was over, Elara dried Aiden off, helping him into his evening robes. Nimbus, now fluffy and clean, was placed in a cozy little bed nearby, already dozing off.

"Would you like anything else before you rest?" Elara asked, her voice quiet and soothing.

Aiden shook his head. "Nah, I'm good. Thanks, Elara."

"Of course, Your Highness," she said, bowing slightly before leaving him to enjoy the rest of his evening in peace.
