Chapter 17: City A
Why do I sense something amiss all of a sudden...maybe not.
I jumped through the cityscape of city Z hoping to find something interesting and also maybe test out some of my souls abilities on the local monsters.
Well or i could just go cause trouble for the heroes or just hunt down garou and use him as a practice dummy either way i am not going to bore myself.
Soon i saw a group of monsters while passing through some buildings, so i just tested some of my abilities, i summoned a barrage of DT Knives that rained down towards them and turning them into hole filled monsters.
it didn't take me long to reach City-A which was filled with people, yeah not really sure where I could find monsters here, also why does the Anarchy soul look like it's trembling...must be nothing.
I landed softly on the outskirts of City-A, the bustling metropolis vibrant with life and energy. People moved through the streets, unaware of the chaos that often lurked just beyond their safe bubble of heroes and security. My gaze flickered toward the Anarchy soul embedded in my arsenal. It trembled again, its faint crimson glow pulsing erratically. I frowned, narrowing my eyes. It couldn't be reacting to something, could it?
"Strange," I muttered, brushing it off as residual instability. But a small part of me couldn't shake the feeling that it was trying to warn me.
Deciding not to dwell on it, I pressed on, scanning for any signs of action. The heroes in City-A were notoriously active, so finding one to antagonize wouldn't be too hard. As I weaved through the crowd, I couldn't help but sense an underlying tension in the air. The kind of tension that meant trouble was brewing.
A sudden shockwave rattled the street, and the people around me screamed as they scattered. I glanced up to see a large figure emerging from the center of the city—a hulking, grotesque monster with thick, armored skin and glowing red eyes. It roared, shaking the ground as it began tearing through the buildings with reckless abandon.
Finally, something interesting.
I smirked, leaping onto a nearby rooftop for a better vantage point. The monster was big, sure, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle.
I decided to use the true Knife than use a DT one. I reached into the void of my inventory and summoned the True Knife, its crimson glow emanating a far more potent aura than the DT Knives I had been toying with earlier. The blade felt familiar in my grip, its power resonating with my soul in a way that almost made me nostalgic. Almost.
"This should make things more interesting," I said to myself, the smirk on my face widening.
The monster below continued its rampage, sending chunks of debris flying as it swung its massive arms. The chaos it created was impressive, but it was clear this thing was all brute force and no strategy. I leapt down, landing directly in its path with a casual stance.
The creature stopped, its glowing red eyes locking onto me. For a moment, there was silence as it assessed whether I was a threat. Then it let out a deafening roar, charging at me with reckless abandon.
"Exercising is good for the body, but I don't feel like using Determination today" I said out loud, my black eyes slowly turned into a light cyan colour.
The true knife unexpectedly glowed and turned into a bunch of strings.
"Well, that's new," I muttered, letting the strings coil around my fingers like living tendrils.
The monster didn't care for my observation. With a ground-shaking roar, it lunged at me again, swinging one massive claw toward my chest. This time, I didn't bother dodging. I flicked my wrist, and the cyan strings shot forward, wrapping tightly around the beast's arm mid-swing.
I clenched my hands and the strings cut through the arm like it was butter, severing it cleanly. Black blood spewed from the wound as the creature recoiled in pain, its deafening roars shaking the ground. The detached limb hit the pavement with a dull thud, twitching slightly before dissolving into a puddle of sludge.
The monster roared in what seems to be anger as it rushed towards me, in my eyes ofcourse it's speed was slow but I wondered, should I play with a bit more.
I flicked my hand and a single string shot out and pierced the monster straight in its chest. "Hey let's play puppet and Master"
The cyan string pulsed as it dug into the monster's chest, rooting itself deep inside. The creature froze mid-charge, its glowing red eyes widening in confusion. Its massive body twitched and jerked unnaturally as I tightened my grip on the string, feeling its essence connect to mine.
"See? Much better now," I said with a smirk, my voice dripping with mockery. I raised my hand, and the monster's body moved in sync, taking a staggering step back as if controlled by invisible threads.
The onlookers who hadn't yet fled stared in horror, unsure whether I was saving them or something far worse. The truth? I didn't care. This wasn't about them—it was about testing my new toy.
"Puppet and master," I mused, twisting my wrist slightly. The string yanked the monster's head to the side with a sickening crack, forcing it to stare at me. "Guess which one you are?"
The beast roared, thrashing against the string's control, but it was no use. Every move it tried to make was overridden by my command. Its brute strength was nothing compared to the precision and will of Perseverance.
"Let's make this fun," I said, tugging the string to force the monster into a lumbering charge toward a nearby building. It crashed through the wall, rubble and dust flying everywhere as it struggled to regain control.
"Not bad," I remarked, yanking it back into the open street. "But you're a terrible dancer."
As I played with my prey I realised I was as psychopath, doi need therapy. I mean I had a lot of therapists in my old life saying I should go do a sport like boxing to get rid of some tendencies. Good old times, well not really good when my old life was pretty shitfull.
Anyways I'm going to use soul manipulation and yank this monsters soul out.
