Meddling The Omniverse

Chapter 22: 22. Seth's First Isekai

Note:

Seth will likely be jumping to different series and shows not from its start, he may arrive at the later chapters of a series, so spoilers be warned.

On a ship, a blue-haired boy was giggling quietly as he double-checked his supplies on the ship's dinghy.

Haha! Suckers! Do they think I would ever sell my ability to swim just for a random superpower? NEVER! He cackled in his mind as the boy held a weird-looking fruit.

I, buggy would rather die than eat this devil fruit! I don't care what happens or what power this thing gives me. Why am I in this crew anyway, sure the captain is famous and powerful, and I wouldn't be able to leave that place if I never joined, but the battles and whatever bullsh*t I have gotten into ain't worth it! All I wanted were treasures and riches, not infamy and high chances to get my head chopped off! He grimaced at the earth-shattering battles he went through even as an apprentice cabin boy.

This boy's called Buggy, a blue-haired boy with an unusual nose. He was planning to ditch the crew he was on while making sure no one found out about his escape.

After one last check, he finally set his plan in motion, he set his dinghy up and checked the fruit

It's a good thing my fake fruit and acting worked. No matter what, any devil fruit will always sell for a fortune. Selling one of these guarantees me enough money for life. While I wanted that, My aim was still the same as ever, treasures! And the money from selling this will be my capital. Buggy pulled out a treasure map while grinning from such thoughts.

He examined the treasure map, relishing the thoughts of finding treasures from the map, he put the map down and pulled out a tiny crate, Now all I have to do is to hide this fruit right…

"Buggy!"

"HEUGH!!!" Buggy instantly stuffed the fruit inside his mouth, keeping it out of everyone's sight.

"What are you doing there bud?" Buggy saw who had just called him, it's the only other boy similar to his age, with red hair and a straw hat and all.

"WHAECH! WHUAECH!" he tried to reply but he had accidentally shoved the fruit too far, causing him to choke a bit

"What's wrong, something stuck in your throat? Are you having a midnight snack?"

"NOUGH! IV! WHAEH ARH HYOU DHOING HERE? (NO! I! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!)" Buggy spoke as he successfully unchoked himself, but he sounded as if food was in his mouth.

"Oh? Just checking around, plus the ship's cook wouldn't like it when something's missing in the pantry, again." The red-haired boy called out.

"YEAHH IH GETH IT!"

"Whatever you say buggy." The red-haired boy moved away.

Buggy sighed at the close call, Phew. it looks like the coast is clear, all I have to do is to get this fruit out of my…

"BUGGY!" *Gulp* That voice jolted him in shock, causing a reflex that filled him with regrets for the rest of his life. Something slid down his throat as tears streamed down Buggy's cheek. The devil fruit, the thing he planned to sell, was accidentally swallowed by him.

"I forgot to tell you! The captain called!"

Buggy sat in shock, as his reality came in crashing, he shouted to the top of his lungs, "SHANKS!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!"

"What have I done?" the red-haired boy, also known as Shanks asked.

"I ATE A-A…" He wanted to say devil fruit, but he couldn't.

"Yeah, you ate something from the kitchen, don't worry, I won't snitch," Shanks assured him with a few pats on Buggy's back.

"BECAUSE OF YOU!" Buggy pounced on Shanks with anger and intent to kill, pushing the things around him into a mess.

Shanks easily dodged him, "Whoa there Buggy, calm down, look, your stuff is being blown away because of it."

"What!?" he turned around only to see his map floated out of the ship.

"OH SH*T!" Without hesitation, he jumped toward the map.

"Buggy! Don't! You can't–" Shanks tried to stop him, but too late, Buggy successfully caught his map and splashed into the sea.

"–Swim anymore… remember…" Buggy already drowned.

So It is true, the sea will forever shun anyone who ate the devil fruits, they will be unable to move at all while in contact with seawater. Buggy got hit with a realization, his body wouldn't listen to him underwater, he could only stay in place and slowly sink.

Suddenly, a school of fishes swarmed through him like a tidal wave. One of them rammed straight at his abdomen, the strike was forceful enough to make him exhale reflexively. SH*T!!! WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU FELLAS!!! he exclaimed in his mind as bubbles of air from his lungs left his body.

Is this the end… he thought, Shanks, it's your fault, so get your ass here right now…

Due to that fish's strike, he lacked oxygen, he lost his grip on his map. With each passing second, the world darkens around him, and all he can do now is stare at the sea's surface above him, like a mirror of hope, moving further away as he slowly descends into the abyss below.

He couldn't take it anymore, if that breath of air hadn't escaped, Shanks or anyone from the crew could have pulled him out in time.

His vision blurred, illusions kicked in, and memories flashed by. At his final moment, he closed his eyes.

In the void of his unconsciousness, a faint glimmer of hope pierced through the darkness. A gentle warmth enveloped him, pulling him back to reality. Images flashed before his closed eyes, fragments of memories swirling in a hazy whirlwind.

Like a bolt of lightning, awareness slammed into him with stunning force. Buggy's eyes flew open and he gasped for air. He blinked rapidly, disoriented and bewildered by the sudden change in his surroundings.

As his senses gradually sharpened, he realized he was lying in the middle of an empty night sky. Confusion clouded his thoughts as he struggled to piece together what happened.

Then it hit him, he had drowned. Panic arose as there was nothing familiar around here, no ceiling, bed, floor, and most importantly, no crew. it was new and indescribable.

"Greetings, Child named buggy, this self is sad to be the bearer of tragic news, but…."

Buggy's eyes shook wildly, and with newfound strength, he stood up, "WHO'S THERE! SHOW YOURSELF! I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU!"

A throne materialized before him, "Fear not, I am here," A humanoid figure made out of space and stars seated on the throne. Its only discernible features were its armor, clothes, cape, and the swirling stars where its eyes should be.

The moment Buggy saw this figure, something deep within him was triggered. Normally, he would shiver and shake his legs in such moments, but he felt no fear or confusion this time. Instead, he was overwhelmed by senses of resignation, hopelessness, and despondency.

As his mind flickered while gazing at a being of such stature, Buggy struggled to change his situation. With eyes seemingly devoid of determination he searched for a way out.

A ring? When his eyes landed on the ring on the figure's gauntlet, clarity returned, and the dismal feeling lessened. But now he couldn't tear his gaze away from the ring.

"Impressive, to still have such courage while sinking in desolation. You may be cowardly, but your will to live and strive remains steadfast as I expected." The being remarked, stopping something from within, Causing Buggy to break out of his trance.

Sweat trickled down his back as he asked, "Wh-wh-who are you!? What do you want with me!?" he asked.

"Ahh, Forgive this self's manner, you can call me Seth, and I am the God who will ferry AND handle your fate in your afterlife."

"AFTERLIFE! YOU-YOU MEAN!" Buggy's mouth chattered in distress.

"Yes, you are dead." Buggy widened his eyes.

"Or you're supposed to," Seth added later.

"HAH!!! DON'T JOKE WITH ME! I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK! JUST SAY YOUR PIECE IMMEDIATELY YOU DAMN OAF!" Buggy steamed in anger.

Seth receiving all of this snickered, "Calm yourself down. First of all, you are technically dead."

"What do you mean 'technically' dead!?"

"As of right now, you stood upon this self as a soul, who has left his mortal body."

"SOUL! You saying I'm a ghost now!?"

"In a way, that is correct."

"Then that means you're the Grim Reaper or something?" Buggy finally recollected himself, still uncomfortable yet also interested in what Seth wanted to say.

"Yes and no."

"Huh?" Buggy looked confused.

"Do you know the concept of reincarnation?"

"Is it that belief where when someone dies, they start a new life as a new person?"

"Correct, right now you are in the process of one, after this, you will start a new life with no memories of your previous self." The being replied.

Buggy hearing this raised his soldiers, he felt tense from the weight of his situation.

The two spiral galaxies on his face turned slanted "Well bless the heaven or your luck. For you are in the presence of me, a god who can offer you a different path."

"Why does that matter?" Buggy acted tough but worry was still plastered all over his face.

"Because I'm not a mere ferry for your soul to your new life, I am more than that. This self could do something about your current predicament."

"Stop going on in circles! Just tell me straight! I'm in your hands anyway!" Buggy stated his piece.

"OK, I'll get straight to the point. I have an offer to make. If you accept it, you will be sent to a new different world while still being Buggy, apprentice of Gol D. Roger, again."

"?" Buggy raised his eyebrow.

"You will be sent to a different world with your old body."

Buggy contemplated for a bit, "What happens if I refuse?"

"You'll be reborn as a baby with your memories wiped."

"THAT'S! Ahh…" Buggy wanted to shout but he became contemplative.

"You wanted to say 'THERE'S NO WAY I'LL EVER AGREE TO THAT!' But when you recalled the things you went through and the future that your status could have brought, deep inside your soul, you wanted to agree to it."

"Ugh…" Buggy backed away instinctually, he was read like a book.

"Ah forgive me for forgetting this, If you accept that offer, you will also receive gifts courtesy of our service. Plus as a freebie, you will still have access to your devil fruit powers in that new world." Seth answered with a showman flair.

"*gulp* may I know the gifts?"

"The gifts could be a supreme cheat-like power unheard of in that new world, a golden way to improve yourself beyond that world's limit, and so… much… more."

Moments later something clicked inside him, "No dumbass would give those for free! There must be a catch!"

"Of course, no one who is a part of the famed Gol D. Roger's crew is incompetent, I presumed?"

"You seem to know too much about me…"

"As the God tasked with handling your death right here and right now, I have the authority to know your life's history, from what you have done, what you wanted to achieve, and more." The conversation shifted.

A drop of sweat trickled Buggy's forehead. Seth Continued, "From this, I also learned of the world you lived in, Your occupation, your captain, your friend, and you're personality."

Does that mean he knows? Buggy thought.

"Of course, you have big dreams but you were too cowardly to follow through with them, you always hated the fact that you had to fight in bloody battles, and before you drowned, you were planning to abandon your crewmates because, in some ways or form, you viewed them as suicidal idiots."

Buggy's face distorted, and he showed genuine anger. A raging flame sparked in him towards the god, not because he looked down on him, but because he looked down on his crewmate, his friends.

Buggy gritted his teeth, You can call me a weakling, But to dare call such things about my comrades! A unique sheen flashed across his eyes, and without hesitation, he glared.

Seth's captured all of this and with it, buggy saw something different.

Some of the scattered specs of stars all over Seth's head moved towards the bottom part of his face. They arranged themselves neatly into a semicircular shape.

Looks like my judgment wasn't wrong.
