Me and My Overpowered Abilities

Chapter 24: Chapter 22

"By the way, what the hell were you talking about?" Blessing asked casually, biting into her meal from KFC. Yes, they had just eaten at a restaurant, but her appetite had noticeably increased thanks to the pregnancy.

"Of course, you say nothing," she continued, rolling her eyes at Adam's silence. "Anyway, I want to tell my dad I'm pregnant. You're coming with me, right? It'll be a chance for you to meet him."

As expected, Adam ignored her entirely.

"Come on," she pleaded. "I gave you that nice gift. I just need a little support. You can stay as cold and indifferent as always; I just don't want to face him alone." But Adam ignored her.

She let out a dramatic sigh. "You're so cold... sigh, what if I were to die? Wouldn't it be sad? You'd probably regret it. You'd be all like, 'Why didn't I open my heart? Oh, my sexy and beautiful Blessing, now my villain arc shall begin because you were worth so much. Why must I only know what I had once I lost it all?'" Her voice grew overly theatrical, complete with a mock cry.

Adam clenched his jaw, doing his best to resist the overwhelming urge to kick her out of the car and leave her stranded in the middle of the street.

"I regret the day I ever met you," Adam said coldly, his tone sharp enough to silence her for a moment.

"Oh, so cold. It's turning me on. Let's do it in the back seat—you don't need to worry about getting me pregnant," she said with a sly grin, her teasing tone deliberately provocative.

Adam's eye twitched, his patience wearing dangerously thin. He glanced at her stomach, a sharp reminder that she was pregnant, and therefore she couldn't be hit.

"Oh, I almost forgot," Blessing began casually. "The government, along with a bunch of smart people, developed a satellite system that can scan the Earth to map out all the dungeons location. These satellites can even predict where new dungeons are likely to appear."

She glanced at Adam, who remained focused on the road, his face indifferent.

"Pretty impressive, right? They're saying that within a week, about ten D-rank dungeons will pop up. And if the strength difference between an F-rank and E-rank dungeon boss is fifty times, you can bet the gap between E and D ranks will be just as crazy," she added, hoping for some reaction.

Adam didn't even glance her way, his expression unreadable. Blessing sighed, dropping the topic as silence filled the car.

The rest of the ride home was... peaceful.

As Blessing had predicted, D-rank dungeons began appearing just a week later. Their emergence caused a massive uproar. These dungeons were significantly larger than the previous ranks, with their portals as massive as small houses. The sheer size alone sent waves of fear through the world, as no one could fathom the horrors that might lie within.

Unlike with the E-rank dungeons, the government didn't act out of greed this time. Instead, they reached out to guilds, forming partnerships to ensure these dungeons could be cleared without excessive losses. The cooperation marked a shift in priorities, as the stakes had clearly risen.

The Zenith Guild was among those selected to participate in the efforts to clear these dangerous new dungeons. Before her father could head out, Blessing decided it was finally time to tell him about her pregnancy. Having managed to avoid seeing him in person for months, she no longer had an excuse. For this, she met with him face-to-face, determined to reveal the news.

"Is the father… Adam?" Blessing's father asked, shock evident on his face as his eyes drifted to her growing stomach.

"Although he's unsure about being a father, he's willing to be in the child's life to the best of his ability," Blessing replied, her tone steady but guarded.

Her father nodded slowly before giving her a small, approving smile. "You didn't need to be so scared to tell me. I've already accepted the fact that you are a slut. I can accept everything else too, just make sure Adam is the father to avoid any unnecessary problems," he said lightly.

Blessing's glare shot to him instantly, and he faltered for a moment, caught off guard by her sudden reaction.

"Oh? What part of that upset you?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "The part where I implied Adam might not be the father? Or are you suddenly ashamed of your high body count and don't want that kind of talk to tarnish Adam's image of you?" His voice carried a teasing tone, but there was a hint of seriousness behind his words.

Blessing's glare deepened, but her father smirked, clearly unfazed. "Honestly, if Adam hasn't kicked you out despite knowing about your past, then there's hope for you yet. Not everyone cares about body counts these days. I mean, wasn't Logan Paul's wife with a long list of celebrities before they got together? And Taylor Swift… well, she's probably breaking records at this point."

He leaned back with a shrug. "What I'm trying to say is, if you truly care about Adam, be honest with him. Be straightforward. The more you try to hide, the worse things could get later. Trust is everything," he said, his tone softening. For a moment, an awkward silence lingered between them. He wasn't used to giving fatherly advice, and Blessing wasn't used to hearing it.

Blessing nodded lightly and left, her father's words lingering in her mind. He wasn't wrong—many celebrities had body counts far higher than hers, yet it was often overlooked. Was it because of their fame? Their status? If she wanted, she could have had fame too; after all, she had the resources for it. But fame wasn't what she wanted. She shook off the thoughts. She knew Adam well enough to understand that he didn't judge her for her past. Yet, a small part of her still feared that if she managed to fix Adam, he'd abandon her.

As she stepped outside, her world seemed to pause when her eyes fell on the car parked at the curb. Her heart skipped a beat. It was Adam's car. For someone so cold and indifferent, it surprised her that he'd sent the car to pick her up. A small smile tugged at her lips—he thought about her, even if he'd never admit it.

Sliding into the car, she leaned back, feeling a small wave of comfort wash over her. She was just about to instruct the car to take her back to Adam's place when she hesitated. Her gaze flicked to the sleek dashboard and the luxurious interior. A mischievous thought entered her mind. Would it really hurt to take a detour and show this off to her friends?

Adam had always been possessive of his cars, never letting her enjoy a ride unless he was in the driver's seat. No matter how much she pouted or begged, the answer had always been a firm no. But now? Now she had the car all to herself.

A grin spread across her face as she ran her fingers over the controls. "Let's see what you can do," she said to herself, her excitement building.

Meanwhile, Adam was reviewing the email sent by Bob, which detailed the information gathered using various skills on the newly discovered D-rank dungeon. According to the report, the dungeon contained a staggering total of 1 million monsters. Of these, 70% were F-rank, 20% were E-rank, and the remaining were D-rank monsters, which included three sub-bosses and the dungeon boss.

The dungeon had a time limit of 30 days before a dungeon break occurred. However, this wouldn't be a typical dungeon break. The monsters inside the dungeon appeared to possess intelligence, making the situation far more dangerous. Based on the gathered intel, any monster that left the dungeon during the break would respawn back inside upon death. Once respawned, they would reemerge into the outside world, creating a continuous loop of destruction.

In simpler terms, this meant there would be a never-ending swarm of a million respawning monsters unless specific conditions were met. To stop the cycle, every monster that escaped into the outside world had to be killed. Then, the dungeon itself had to be cleared entirely—ensuring no monsters were left running loose—before the cycle would finally end.

This was the main reason why the government decided to collaborate with guilds and other organizations instead of hoarding the dungeon's resources for themselves. Clearing just one D-rank dungeon would be an enormous undertaking. The sheer manpower required to handle such a task, combined with the danger posed by the intelligent monsters, made it clear that attempting this alone was impossible.

Closing his laptop, Adam teleported to a remote D-rank dungeon that had been marked as a low priority since it was located far from any human city. Upon stepping through the portal, he found himself in the midst of a dense jungle.

With his hands casually tucked into his pockets, Adam strolled deeper into the forest. It didn't take long for something to catch his attention—a sharp whistling sound pierced the air as an arrow rocketed toward him. Without even flinching, Adam watched as the arrow came to a halt mere inches from his body, suspended mid-air, unable to touch him.

His gaze shifted to the source of the attack, landing on an elf concealed in the trees. To an ordinary person, the elf was nearly invisible, blending seamlessly with the foliage. But to Adam, it might as well have been waving a flag and shouting its location. His sharp perception left no room for surprise.

By the way, the technique Adam used to halt the arrow was Infinity, a signature ability from the Limitless technique. It worked by dividing the distance between himself and any incoming object an infinite number of times, rendering him untouchable. Normally, the requirements to wield such a technique were immense, making it a near-impossible feat for most. However, Adam, with his genius intellect, had effortlessly recreated and mastered it, using it without any difficulty.
