Chapter 175: Going out alone to earn Spirit stones!
Mo Yuxin's expression immediately turned cold and her piercing cold eyes seemed to send shivers down all the monks spine but she could only force a faint smile as she watched the hurriedly leaving backs of her customers.
The customers were so frightened by her cold eyes that they didn't dare to linger here any longer and immediately said goodbye saying that they will transfer the money to Su Yubing.
Mo Yuxin's entire being exuded extremely cold and deathly aura as she would immediately sheath her sword and send them to their death's door.
After the customers hurriedly went back, they immediately sent messages to Su Yubing one after another, sending her the payments as well as complaining about Mo Yuxin to her.
The spirit stones, all one hundred thousand of them, were transferred directly to Su Yubing.
Mo Yuxin stood there, her hands clenched into fists, her heart pounding with a mixture of anger and humiliation. She watched as the monks bowed politely and then walked away, their faces betraying no hint of remorse.
As the monks disappeared into the crowd, Mo Yuxin felt a wave of helplessness wash over her. She had been robbed, not of her spirit stones, but of her dignity.
The stout monk, after leaving the stall, went into a quiet alley. After making sure that no one was around, he pulled out his Hongmeng Order and sent a message.
[Yuanjun usually doesn't go out to sell things at night. Is she sick? Has she gone astray? Fellow Daoist Su Yubing, please go down the mountain and take her back.]
Back on Shanglong peak, Su Yubing's Hongmeng Order chimed with a new message. She opened it, her eyes widening slightly as she read the monk's message. A small smile played on her lips.
"Thank you, fellow Daoist," she replied, her fingers dancing across the Hongmeng Order. "I will attend to her immediately."
She stood up, her movements graceful despite her weakened meridians and walked down the Cangran Mountains. She knew Mo Yuxin's stubborn streak well, and she knew that her determination to earn spirit stones independently would likely lead to such a situation. Su Yubing felt a pang of amusement, mixed with a touch of fondness.
"She cares a lot about spiritual stones," Su Yubing mused, recalling their past encounters. "Even after losing her memory, her obsession hasn't diminished."
She knew Mo Yuxin wasn't angry, not truly. Mo Yuxin's temper had softened since losing her memories, and she was far more tolerant. Su Yubing knew that Mo Yuxin's pride was wounded, and she needed to be handled gently.
Su Yubing's meridians were still fragile, and walking down the mountain would be a slow and painful process. She needed to reach Mo Yuxin before she did something rash.
"A paper crane will do nicely," she murmured, reaching into her sleeve. She pulled out a folded paper crane, its delicate wings shimmering in the moonlight. With a gentle breath, she activated the crane, and it grew larger, its wings flapping rhythmically.
Su Yubing gathered the fur collar of her cloak and climbed onto the crane's back. The paper crane soared into the night sky, carrying her swiftly towards the bustling marketplace.
As the paper crane glided through the air, Su Yubing reflected on her relationship with Mo Yuxin. They had been through so much together, and even with Mo Yuxin's memory loss, their bond remained strong. Su Yubing knew that Mo Yuxin was a kind and compassionate soul, even if she was a little too obsessed with spirit stones which was quite cute in her eyes.
The moon hung like a silver coin in the inky sky, casting long, eerie shadows across the winding mountain path. Su Yubing, perched atop her paper crane, glided through the cool night air, her thoughts drifting back to Mo Yuxin. A soft smile touched her lips as she imagined her beloved's frustration at the monks' refusal to pay her directly.
"Such a stubborn, adorable creature," she murmured, her voice carried away by the wind.
As the paper crane descended towards a secluded grove, Su Yubing's senses sharpened. The place where she descended was not a good place.
Then, she saw them. A group of men, their faces rough and their eyes glinting with a predatory light, emerged from the deeper shadows of the grove. Their presence was heavy, their intent clear.
Su Yubing looked calmly at the dregs of society, preying on the weak and vulnerable.
"Well, look what we have here," one of the men sneered, his voice thick with malice. "A pretty little bird, lost in the woods."
The men chuckled, their laughter harsh and grating. They moved closer, their eyes raking over Su Yubing's figure with a blatant disrespect.
"She looks like she's worth something," another man muttered, his eyes gleaming. "Maybe we can have some fun with her before we take her valuables."
Su Yubing's eyes were as calm as still water. In the past, she could crush these despicable bastards to their death as easily as killing a buzzing mosquito. But her body at the moment was vulnerable, her injuries a constant impediment.
Even in an immortal city with Cangran Sect right next to it and the best public security, such trashes of society still appears to hanr innocent people.
Su Yubing's eyes seemed to hold a deathly gaze as she reached out and her hands loomed over the hilt of her rapier. When her fingertips touched the cold and curved hilt, some blood-like fragmented images, a hazy mixture of sadness and grief flashed before her eyes.
They moved closer, their unwelcomed hands reaching out. Su Yubing was about to make her move.
Then, a flicker of movement caught her eye. A shadow, darker than the night itself, was moving through the trees.
A moment later, a figure emerged, her form wreathed in a strange, ethereal glow. Mo Yuxin.
Su Yubing's breath hitched. She had no idea how Mo Yuxin had found her.
But the moment she appeared, all the thugs couldn't even react before their heads were severed from their necks!
Mo Yuxin's eyes were cold and hard, not a trace of hesitation in those eyes. Thugs like them should not and would not live before her eyes.
Su Yubing looked at the cold Mo Yuxin with a smile on her face before saying with a chuckle,
"My...my.... How dashing! Hero saving a beauty? But... Is it okay to kill someone here?"
"Well, there will be no traces left. So who's going to find out?"
Mo Yuxin said lightly. Mo Yuxin then looked at the bodies, her eyes narrowed. She raised her hand, and a strange, blue flame erupted from her palm.
The flames danced across the bodies, consuming them in an instant. The air shimmered with heat, and then, there was nothing left but ash.
Mo Yuxin turned back to Su Yubing, her expression calm. "Let's go home," she said.
Su Yubing nodded but after walking just a few more steps, she suddenly started coughing and couldn't walk anymore,
"Cough!! Cough!! I can't walk anymore.... Let's... Let's take a little break."
Mo Yuxin frowned and couldn't help but think that this little distance shouldn't cause her to react like this, unless she has used her spiritual power even in that state.
She immediately took a step forward and supported her before asking,
"How did you get here?"
"I walked here." Su Yubing lied without a moment of hesitation.
Mo Yuxin obviously didn't believe her and immediately exposed her lies,
"You used your spiritual power and rode a paper crane here?"
"Yes. I used my spiritual energy." Su Yubing said depressedly. She suddenly covered her mouth and again started a violent streak of coughing but this time, her fingers were soon stained with scarlet blood, which scared Mo Yuxin so much that she immediately went forward and held her with an anxious look on her face that she herself didn't notice.
But before she could say anything, Su Yubing suddenly took out a glowing blue pill and swallowed it. Immediately afterwards, the pill took effect as Su Yubing started feeling better and didn't cough anymore.
"A..are you okay?"
Mo Yuxin asked, her voice tinged with a visible anxiety.
"I'm fine. Let's go home."
"Well... How about we find an inn for the night..."
Mo Yuxin asked hesitantly, after all, seeing her bloody and sick appearance really scared her so much. She felt as if the slightest breeze would blow out the last bit of life from within her.
"No. Let's go. I still have to check Lu Wuqi's homework and...."
"You never check her homework. She does it all on her own."
Mo Yuxin ruthlessly exposed Su Yubing and Su Yubing was stunned for a moment before she looked at her with a smile and said,
"You are quite different from before. Back then, you never used to contradict me and would always comfort me and try your best to keep me happy at all times. Even a frown from me was enough to make you sulk the whole day. "
Mo Yuxin was a little stunned by her description and didn't want to believe her,
"Sorry. I don't remember any of those."
Mo Yuxin put the meaningless things behind her as she took Su Yubing to the only inn at the end of the street.
The inn was a cozy, dimly lit establishment, its wooden beams and warm candlelight casting a comforting glow. Mo Yuxin, her arm supporting Su Yubing, approached the counter.
"Just one room, you say?" Mo Yuxin asked the innkeeper, her voice tinged with a hint of desperation.
The innkeeper, a middle-aged woman with a kind smile, shook her head apologetically. "I'm afraid so, dear. We've had a rush of travelers tonight. It's the last one."
