Chapter 2: The Disciple Tries to Overthrow the Master
The original Tianyan Sect was not desolate; it could even be said to be at its peak.
The previous head of Tianyan Sect, who was also He Youzhou’s senior brother, moved the entire sect with his followers more than twenty years ago and started anew.
“He Daoyuan…” He Youzhou murmured his senior brother’s name, his tone complex.
They were both adopted by the same master and given the same surname.
His senior brother’s new sect was called Tianni Sect, and according to novels and comics, just hearing the name sounded very edgy.
Originally one of the eight major demonic sects, Tianyan Sect had no resources left after everything was taken away, so it naturally could no longer be ranked among the other demonic sects.
Thus, the new sect easily replaced the original Tianyan Sect and became one of the eight major demonic sects.
All the inner and outer disciples left with his senior brother, leaving only He Youzhou in the empty shell of Tianyan Sect.
However, his senior brother was also excessive; after everyone left, he even dismantled Tianyan Sect and took everything away.
In the end, Tianyan Sect was left with only the main hall, the Sutra Library, the kitchen, and a few habitable rooms.
What secret manuals? What cultivation methods? All gone.
With a snap, He Youzhou’s joy as the head of the sect was completely gone.
Although being the head of the sect made no difference, at least he had a place to stay and didn’t have to find shelter from the rain.
Revenge? What revenge? He would never do such a thing.
Although his senior brother emptied the Tianyan Sect, he did not exterminate the sect. In fact, he didn’t even lift a finger to kill anyone.
The remaining elders of the Tianyan Sect all passed away due to other reasons.
With all the elders having departed, He Youzhou naturally became the sect leader as the last remaining member.
Not only did he not seek revenge, he didn’t even have the desire to trouble his senior brother.
How wonderful it is to recruit some beautiful young female disciples like now! Then just relax and take it easy every day!
In short, let’s first find the joy of being the sect leader again.
“Master.” Zhishi called out to He Youzhou.
Zhishi’s oriole-like voice pulled He Youzhou back from his memories.
“Master, are you thinking about the past again?” Zhishi tentatively asked.
From childhood to adulthood, she had often heard her master talk about the past, knowing that her master missed the former Tianyan Sect very much.
She couldn’t understand this nostalgia, because for her, the current Tianyan Sect and the current master were everything to her.
“Yes.” He Youzhou replied faintly.
Kneeling on the ground, Zhishi suddenly opened her arms, her red lips slightly parted, “Master.”
Hearing this, He Youzhou sighed helplessly, “Just for a while.”
With He Youzhou’s permission, Zhishi threw herself into his arms, hugging her master tightly.
This was one of the things she had to do every day. If there was a day she didn’t hug her master, she would feel very low.
When Zhishi hugged He Youzhou, it was as if she wanted to meld herself into his embrace.
The usually cold and aloof Zhishi couldn’t maintain her icy demeanor in front of her master.
She took a deep breath, her eyes a bit dazed, her small face slightly flushed due to the emotional turmoil.
Zhishi felt that her master had a pleasant floral fragrance, but she knew that her master had never bathed with flower petals.
Her master, in order to avoid appearing too feminine, was trying hard to make his image more ordinary. It was impossible for him to make himself smell fragrant.
“Master, today can I…” Zhishi, almost melting, breathed into He Youzhou’s ear.
But just as she was about to finish her sentence, there was a clattering sound at the entrance of the main hall.
A blood-soaked girl rolled on the ground like a rag doll, smashing several wooden boxes.
“Get out! Demon girl!”
She swept her gaze over the girl lying on the ground, unsure if she was alive or dead, with eyes that could kill, then looked towards the entrance of the main hall.
“It’s been a long time since it was this lively.” He Youzhou saw this scene and, instead of getting angry, seemed quite happy. “It really has been a long time.”
“Is this a sign that our Tianyan Sect is going to rise?” He looked at Zhishi expectantly and asked.
“Master, probably not.” Zhishi replied expressionlessly, completely devoid of the previously demure demeanor.
The girl on the ground, covered in blood, let out a hoarse voice, “Help me…”
Since collapsing at the entrance of the main hall, the girl had been observing the two people inside.
He Youzhou was very thin, dressed in unremarkable hemp clothes, with a sword placed beside him.
In contrast, Zhishi, just by standing there, was enough to make it hard for people to look away.
No matter how you looked at it, the latter, just from her aura alone, was enough to be called a prodigy. Yet, such a Zhishi seemed to obey He Youzhou’s every command.
The girl keenly sensed that she had probably come to an extraordinary place. Maybe if she could win their sympathy, she could survive.
“I was being chased by evil people… Save me…” The girl continued to pretend her voice was hoarse, pleading.
However, when He Youzhou and Zhishi heard the word “evil people,” they exchanged a glance full of confusion.
Being chased by evil people, and then coming to this place known as the Demon Sect for help? Could it be that this girl didn’t know this was the Tianyan Sect?
He Youzhou raised his eyelids, “Do you want to join our sect?”
“Ah?” The paralyzed girl on the ground let out a confused sound.
“Master, don’t you think it sounds strange to say that?” Zhishi’s expression didn’t change at all as she spoke, as cold as ice.
After speaking, she gave the unfamiliar girl a deep look.
If it weren’t for this person, she might have been able to dual cultivate with her master tonight, or at least deeply kiss him.
This person deserved to die.
Although this person deserved to die, thinking of her master’s grand ambitions, she endured it.
“Name.” Zhishi asked concisely.
“Yulan…” The girl answered Zhishi’s question in a very weak manner.
Zhishi nodded, then turned to He Youzhou, “Master, she is a beauty.”
“A beautiful girl.” He Youzhou stubbornly corrected Zhishi’s words.
“Yes, a beautiful girl.” Zhishi said expressionlessly.
Yulan heard their conversation, and her heart sank.
Could it be that she had just escaped the wolf’s den only to enter the tiger’s lair? No matter how she thought about it, this conversation seemed to be about coveting her beauty.
She instinctively touched her face. If that was really the case, she would rather commit suicide.
“Do not harbor this demon girl!”
“Kill her! Kill her!”
The people outside were still making noise.
“Young people are really energetic.” He Youzhou stood up with difficulty and picked up the sword.
He Youzhou found it troublesome, but since everyone else had gone outside, he couldn’t stay behind. “Zhishi, accompany your master to take a look.”
Zhishi didn’t speak, but had already followed behind He Youzhou.
