Marvel's Magic Master: I Have a Clone in the Harry Potter World!

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: The X-Jet and the Modified Motorcycle

"There's actually a plane here?"

George stared at the X-Jet before him, utterly stunned.

He hadn't expected the X-Jet to still be stored in the school's basement. He assumed Wolverine and Professor X had taken it when they fled.

Wolverine, now back in his iconic jacket with a cigar between his teeth, explained to George after removing his suit shirt:

"Too bad I can't fly a plane. If I could, we wouldn't have had such a hard time escaping with the Professor."

Back then, Professor X lost control of his mind, killing all the mutants in the school. To save him, Wolverine had driven the Professor to a hospital. Although the Professor's condition eventually stabilized, they became targets of an intense FBI manhunt.

Had he known how to fly the plane, they could have escaped the U.S. altogether and sought treatment for the Professor abroad, eluding government pursuit.

"Still, it's good we have it now—it might come in handy in the future."

It was then George remembered that Wolverine not only didn't know how to fly a plane, but he also had a fear of heights and got airsick.

In the movies, the X-Jet was typically piloted by Beast, Mystique, Storm, Cyclops, or Jean Grey.

That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, though. Despite being over 20 years old, the X-Jet had been extensively modified by Beast, a scientific genius, and wasn't much worse than S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most advanced Quinjet.

Not only was it incredibly fast, but it also had stealth capabilities that could evade satellite detection.

As long as someone learned to fly it, the X-Jet could serve as a reliable escape method during emergencies. For instance, during the Chitauri invasion of New York, an aircraft like this would have been invaluable.

"Oh, by the way, when you go into the city for reconnaissance, you can ride this motorcycle. It was Scott's favorite and has been specially modified to be three times faster than the fastest motorcycle in the world."

After showing George the X-Jet, Wolverine led him to a seemingly ordinary motorcycle in the basement.

Wolverine, along with Professor X and Caliban, was too conspicuous to roam the city frequently. Their presence would inevitably attract government attention, so they could only act during critical moments.

This meant the task of gathering intelligence on Tony Stark at Stark Industries in Manhattan fell to George.

"Looks like this Scott guy had great taste."

George gave the motorcycle a test ride, his face lighting up with satisfaction.

With things progressing so smoothly and the mutant academy exceeding his expectations, George decided to delay contact with Tony Stark. He didn't want to expose himself to S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA, or other forces so soon.

This meant he wouldn't need to head to Manhattan for reconnaissance or kidnap Obadiah Stane to interrogate Tony Stark's whereabouts in the Middle East.

However, George still planned to use the motorcycle to scout out the Bronx, gathering intel on local gangs and shady businessmen.

He had a bold plan: before Tony Stark escaped captivity, he would pull off a major heist in the Bronx.

For now, his focus was on studying magic intensively for the next three months.

After that, he intended to sweep through the Bronx, eliminating wealthy and influential gangs, amassing a fortune, and using it to buy Stark Industries stock during its lowest slump.

Once Tony Stark returned and Stark Industries' stock rebounded, he'd sell everything.

When Stark announced the closure of the weapons division, causing another stock dip, George planned to reinvest heavily, securing enough wealth to support himself and the children at the academy.

Of course, this was a one-time deal. Constantly targeting gangs would inevitably attract the attention of Kingpin and other underground powers.

Walking along the edge of a river, one is bound to get their feet wet. Repeated action would risk exposing both George and the mutant academy.

But a single hit-and-run operation in a poorly surveilled area like the Bronx? Not even Sherlock Holmes could track him down.

Since it was a one-time deal, it had to be a big one, with thorough reconnaissance and preparation.

"Scott did have good taste, especially in women. I used to hate that guy, but now I kind of miss him," Wolverine remarked, looking at the motorcycle and slipping into nostalgia.

George immediately understood. He knew both Cyclops and Wolverine had feelings for Jean Grey, but Jean ultimately chose Cyclops.

"By the way, using these facilities in the basement will require electricity. Won't that attract government attention? Shouldn't we bring in some generators? It might not supply as much power, but it would be much safer."

It had been 25 years; the government had likely forgotten about the castle. They probably weren't monitoring its power usage anymore, but George believed in playing it safe.

This hideout was too good to risk exposure and having to relocate again.

Once he learned the Muggle-Repelling Charm, they wouldn't have to be so cautious. They could even reopen the school without fear of government detection.

"You don't have to worry about that," Wolverine reassured him. "Due to a special incident, the basement's power system was upgraded. Beast set up a unique power supply system independent of the castle's main power and fortified it with extensive defensive upgrades. Even if we use every facility, there won't be any traceable power usage."

"That's a relief," George replied.

Special incident? Was it Apocalypse's invasion or William Stryker's assault on the school?

George didn't press further. It didn't matter which it was. What mattered was that the hideout was safe, allowing him to focus on studying magic.

"In the meantime, I'll take time to gather intelligence outside. If possible, I think you and the Professor could help guide the kids here, teaching them how to use their powers effectively in combat," George suggested.

Since the basement's combat simulation room was functional, it could be used to train the kids.

Unlike the crude training methods used in experimental facilities, proper guidance from experts like Professor X and Wolverine could unlock the children's true potential.

He didn't expect the kids to become combat-ready in a short time, but at least they should be able to defend themselves and avoid being burdensome.

The Alkali Transigen Corporation wouldn't let them off so easily. It was only a matter of time before they were tracked down.

When that happened, the attackers might not just be clones of Wolverine but also those of Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops.

Of course, George believed these clones wouldn't be as powerful as their originals.

Most mutant powers required development and understanding to reach their full potential. Magneto, for instance, wasn't so powerful at first—it was Professor X's guidance that helped him grow.

Dr. Zander Rice's clones, on the other hand, were essentially childlike in intelligence and entirely remote-controlled. Such clones couldn't possibly develop their abilities.

Even in the movies, Major William Stryker used Wade as a base and fused multiple mutant abilities into him, only for Wolverine and Sabretooth to decapitate him.

This proved that unless the mind control was removed, clones couldn't surpass their originals—they would remain mere cannon fodder.

Still, cannon fodder in large numbers was no small nuisance.
