Chapter 814: Chapter 813 "World Engine"

"Now that we know the Codex is in Clark's cells, let's start transforming Earth!" Zod declared, switching off the virtual screen monitoring Jerry and Clark. He turned to the Kryptonian warrior piloting the battleship. "Activate the World Engine!"

With his command, a colossal machine detached from the bottom of the battleship and descended towards the Indian Ocean. Meanwhile, the Kryptonian battleship headed toward Metropolis.

The World Engine was a formidable device used by Krypton to terraform planets. Placing the engine on one side of a planet and deploying a unique gravity generator on the opposite side significantly increased the planet's mass and created an atmosphere suitable for Kryptonian life.

The Earth's human government, monitoring the Kryptonians via satellite, quickly realized that Zod's promise of peace was a ruse. The war between Earth and the Kryptonians was now unavoidable.

Inside the spaceship, Jerry, who had been pretending to persuade Clark, used his powerful mental abilities to perceive everything happening. He stood up and announced, "Zod has stopped monitoring us. It's time to act!"

Clark followed Jerry's plan, knocking on the door of their room to attract Faora and two Kryptonian soldiers stationed outside. "I've thought it over," he said. "I'm willing to hand over the Codex if the General guarantees my family's safety on Earth."

"Very good, Kal-El. That's a wise choice," Faora replied. She had just received orders from Zod to bring Clark to the laboratory to extract the Codex. If Clark resisted, they were to take his body instead. Now that Clark seemed willing to cooperate, she didn't have to use force.

"Imperio!" Jerry suddenly shouted. A green light shot from his hand, targeting Faora's exposed face.

Kryptonians react incredibly fast. In the Justice League, even Flash, moving at the speed of light, can be caught and overpowered by Superman.

However, Jerry wasn't acting alone. As Faora attempted to dodge, Clark grabbed her arms, holding her in place.

Jerry's Imperius Curse hit Faora's face squarely, controlling the formidable deputy commander whose strength was second only to Zod's. The two Kryptonian soldiers behind Faora quickly reacted to the attack.

But it was too late. With Clark's strength and Faora now under Jerry's control, the two Kryptonian soldiers were outmatched. Combining their efforts, Clark, Faora, and Jerry's magic quickly subdued the soldiers, leaving them unconscious on the ground.

"Tell me, how does Zod plan to transform Earth into Krypton?" Jerry demanded.

Faora, under the influence of the Imperius Curse, began to divulge Zod's plans. "The World Engine will drastically increase Earth's mass and alter its atmosphere to match Krypton's, ensuring it becomes a new home for Kryptonians."

"And where is this World Engine now?" Jerry pressed.

"It's in the Indian Ocean, and the gravity generator is headed for Metropolis," Faora answered mechanically.

Clark's eyes widened. "We need to stop them before they can activate it. If they succeed, Earth's environment will become uninhabitable for humans."

Jerry nodded. "We'll need to destroy the World Engine and the gravity generator. Let's move."

Together, they prepared to leave the battleship. With the knowledge of Zod's plan and the element of surprise on their side, they hoped to thwart the Kryptonian invasion and save Earth from imminent destruction.

"Where is the World Engine, and how does Zod plan to transform Earth?" Clark asked, staring at Faora, who was now under Jerry's control.

Faora, compelled by Jerry's magic, began to reveal Zod's plans. "The World Engine has reached the Indian Ocean, and the battleship is heading toward Metropolis. Once the World Engine is activated, Earth will be transformed into a Krypton-like environment."

Before Clark could react, alarms blared. Zod had realized something was amiss and was rushing toward them with a battalion of Kryptonian warriors.

"Let's get out of here. I know how to stop them," Jerry said, placing a hand on Clark's shoulder and another on Faora's. In an instant, he teleported them away from the Kryptonian warship.

Zod arrived moments later, furious to see them gone. He clenched his fists, his eyes flashing with rage. "I knew that earthling was trouble," he growled. He quickly composed himself and turned to the Kryptonian scientist. "The Codex cannot be lost. I'll chase them. You activate the World Engine."

With Clark's cells containing the Codex, they couldn't afford to let him escape. However, Zod took solace in knowing that Faora's battlesuit had a tracking system. He could follow their every move.

Meanwhile, Jerry, Clark, and Faora materialized near Metropolis, where the massive Kryptonian warship hovered ominously. The city's skyline trembled under its shadow.

"We can't let Zod activate the World Engine. The buildings in Metropolis can't withstand that kind of energy. It will cause countless deaths," Clark said, his voice filled with urgency as he watched the warship gather energy.

Jerry remained calm. "Don't worry, I've prepared for this. You and Faora need to hold off Zod and his warriors. I'll handle the launcher."

At that moment, Zod and a dozen Kryptonian soldiers descended toward them, their eyes locked on Clark and Jerry. "Here they come. Be careful," Clark said, steeling himself for the battle.

Jerry nodded. "I'll be fine. Go!"

Clark, along with the controlled Faora, flew to intercept Zod and his warriors. Although outnumbered, Clark's longer exposure to Earth's atmosphere gave him an edge. With Faora as his reluctant ally, they managed to hold their ground.

Back in the Kryptonian warship, the scientist pressed the launch button. "World Engine activated," he declared—a massive energy beam shot from the bottom of the warship, aimed directly at Metropolis.

Jerry, seeing the imminent threat, teleported into the heart of the warship. He found the core of the World Engine and began casting spells to disrupt it. The room vibrated with energy as he worked against the clock.

Outside, the battle raged on. Clark and Faora fought valiantly against Zod and his warriors. Despite the odds, Clark's determination never wavered. He knew Jerry needed time.

Inside the warship, Jerry's spells were taking effect. The energy beam flickered and then began to wane. The core of the World Engine started to destabilize, and alarms blared throughout the ship.

Jerry smiled, knowing he had bought precious time. He teleported back to Clark's side just as Zod and his warriors seemed poised to overwhelm them.

"The World Engine is destabilized. We need to push them back and deactivate it completely," Jerry said.

Clark nodded. "Let's finish this."

Together, with renewed determination, Clark and Jerry launched a final assault on Zod and his warriors. The fate of Earth hung in the balance, but with their combined strength and unwavering resolve, they fought to protect their world from the Kryptonian threat.

The citizens of Metropolis, who were originally looking at the Kryptonian warship in the air with blank faces, also found that it was not good at this time, and they screamed and fled in the direction away from the energy beam.

The fighter planes and various self-proclaimed advanced weapons of the human army launched a bombardment on the Kryptonian warship when it landed.

However, the technological weapons of the Earth could not break the thick defense of the Kryptonian warship at all, and were easily shot down by the mechanical tentacles it stretched out, without any effect at all.

Just as the huge energy beam was about to hit the ground of the Metropolis, a figure suddenly appeared right below the beam.
