Chapter 79: 076, Titan-kun? On the good way, a big drop is good! (b)

[As soon as you launched a swift counterattack, the rest of the squad sprang into action.]

[Blazing laser beams struck the drone swarm with relentless precision, hitting nearly every target.]

[In mere moments, the drones crashed to the ground, crackling with electricity.]

[At that moment, a small figure in red mechanical armor suddenly appeared atop a nearby building, attacking from above.]

[The whole squad had to duck behind a low wall, trying to return fire.]

[A ghostly blue pulse of energy ripped through the wall, barely grazing your helmet.]

["Hellfire gun! Suppressive fire!" you instinctively shouted to the squad members behind you.]

["Reporting, Captain! We don't have one!" the squad member known as Bighead replied while firing her laser gun.]

["Then throw a smoke grenade! Block their line of sight!" you took a deep breath, holding it as you aimed at the Pathfinder Warrior on the building above.]

["Reporting, Captain! We're out of those, too!" another soldier ducked, dodging a blue pulse of energy, and shouted to you.]

["Damn it! What did you all bring to the battlefield?" you forced down a surge of anger and yelled over your shoulder.]

["Reporting, Captain! We only have a few fragmentation grenades, one grenade launcher, and a flamethrower full of fuel!" Bighead quickly inventoried the squad's gear and responded.]

["Damn it! Since when did the Astral Army run this low on supplies?" you cursed, glaring at the enemy above.]

[You threw down your laser gun and grabbed two fragmentation grenades from your belt, pulling the pins.]

[With a quick roll over the low wall, you rose before the enemy could fire again and hurled the grenades.]

[Your carefully calculated throw caused the grenades to explode midair, blinding the enemy with flames and disrupting their shooting.]

[At the same time, Bighead raised the grenade launcher, aiming it at the building where the enemy stood.]

[With a deafening roar and debris flying everywhere, the head of an enemy in red armor tumbled through the air and landed near you.]

[You stepped forward and yanked open the armor's visor, revealing a blue-skinned alien with no nose.]

["Aha... so it's the T'au Empire," you muttered under your breath.]

[The rest of the squad gathered around, warily scanning the surroundings as they marveled at the unfamiliar alien.]

[Bighead picked up the laser gun you had dropped and handed it back to you.]

[You thanked her once again and turned to the squad, giving the order to regroup and advance.]

[On the first day, your squad was the last to reach the target area.]

[From the intense front lines, you saw soldiers clad in sandy-colored powered exoskeletons—fighters of the Fire Caste.]

[These Fire Caste soldiers, basic infantry units of the T'au Empire, wielded pulse rifles with greater power and weight than laser guns, emitting blue pulses of energy.]

[At the moment, they were using building cover and exoskeleton agility to fiercely resist waves of attacks from the Fourth Airborne Regiment.]

[Due to orders to seize the desalination plant and the lack of heavy weapon support, your company's assault was stalling.]

[After carefully observing the battlefield, you approached the company commander.]

[You requested permission to form an assault team and attempt a flank from behind the enemy's position to secure the objective.]

[The cautious commander pondered briefly before granting your request.]

[You quickly returned to your squad and announced the orders.]

[You warned them of the high risk and low chance of success, allowing anyone to opt out.]

[But your gesture only brought scoffs from the squad, even from Bighead, who usually supported you.]

[Bighead, a fierce woman with short white hair and a striking presence, removed her helmet.]

["We Elysians don't have cowards!" she proclaimed, her voice ringing out to the squad's cheers.]

[Taking a deep breath, you admitted your error and began preparing the squad for battle.]

[You swapped your laser gun for a shotgun, powerful in close combat.]

[Some squad members were equipped with a mortar, three grenade launchers, and even a laser cutter.]

[After persistently negotiating with the company's quartermaster, you secured a significant ammo supply.]

[You unexpectedly found a thermite bomb among the supplies and, delighted, tucked it into your pack.]

[On the second day, under the dim sky of Talos, nightfall arrived.]

[The commander launched a fierce diversion to support your infiltration.]

[Leading the squad through shadows between buildings, you advanced silently toward the enemy's rear.]

[Data from squad helmet sensors indicated enemy positions detected by ground scanners.]

[Amid the distant sounds of gunfire and explosions, you safely reached the rear of the building.]

[However, just as you directed the squad to set up the laser cutter to breach the thick walls for an assault...]

[The soldiers posted at the rear to watch for threats suddenly screamed in agony.]

["Enemy attack!" one of them yelled a final warning before death.]

[You spun, sprinting toward the source of the screams.]

[Kroot Hounds burst from the darkness, rushing straight at you, their gaping maws full of razor-sharp teeth lunging for your head.]

[Swinging your arm, you pulled the shotgun's trigger, unleashing a blast that shredded two Kroot Hounds into pulp.]

["Forget the laser cutter! Blast through the wall with mortars!" you commanded without looking back.]

[Your infiltration plan was on the brink of collapse...]

[You had no choice but to go for an all-out assault!]
