Chapter 134: Visitors from Another World
At this moment, under the influence of mental suggestion, Logan and Victor sensed the chaos within S.H.I.E.L.D. and decided it was time to leave.
Unknowingly, they found themselves arriving at Umbrella Corporation.
"Thank you. We already know where to go next."
Upon hearing their gratitude, Adam didn't even lift his head.
"Oh? Seems like you've found some clues within S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Yes."
"Then go ahead."
Logan nodded but hesitated for a moment before asking, "How is Rogue doing?"
"Do you want to see her?"
After some thought, Logan nodded again.
"Go ahead. The Red Queen will guide you."
Soon, a beam of light appeared at the door, guiding Logan and Victor out.
A few minutes later, Logan found Rogue in the basement, preparing to go to bed.
Compared to their first meeting, Rogue now seemed free of her former insecurities, exuding a cheerful and radiant demeanor.
"Logan, you're finally back. You've been gone so long. How was it outside? Was it fun?"
Logan approached her, wearing gloves, and gently patted her head.
"The outside world is great, but it's too dangerous for you."
For Rogue, who couldn't yet control her powers, the outside world wasn't just dangerous for her—it was dangerous for ordinary people, too.
Staying in Umbrella Tower was probably the best option for her right now.
The two chatted for over half an hour before Logan left with Victor. Seeing that Rogue was living well, Logan felt much more at ease.
As they exited Umbrella Tower and prepared to head to Michigan, the Red Queen's holographic projection suddenly appeared in front of them.
"There's a mission available. You can accept it or decline it."
"What's the reward?"
"T-3 Virus Enhancement."
Hearing this, Logan nodded in satisfaction, "What's the mission?"
"Travel to the U.K and locate the visitor from another world."
"Visitor from another world?"
"Yes. Last night, our satellite detected unusual spatial fluctuations in the U.K. We need someone to investigate and find this visitor."
"Why us? Can't you send someone else?"
"Because we don't know who this visitor is or their temperament. To avoid unnecessary conflict, the master prefers to approach them cautiously."
After some thought, Logan nodded in agreement. "Fine."
While searching for his memories was important, he was far more curious about who this otherworldly visitor might be.
He turned to Victor. "Are you coming?"
"If you're going, so am I."
"Let's move, then."
Shortly after, under Umbrella's arrangements, the two were on their way to the airport.
.....
At the top floor of Umbrella Tower, Adam stood by the window, watching as Logan and Victor departed. A faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
Behind him, Luna appeared.
"Boss, why send them? Wouldn't our people be more suitable?"
"Our people might provoke this woman. A mutant approach is less likely to escalate the situation."
"Who is she?"
"..Cassandra Nova."
...
"Miss Nova, here's your drink."
Cassandra accepted the glass from the bartender with a faint smile.
The bartender, utterly entranced, turned away without even collecting payment.
"Thank you for the tip," he murmured as he walked off.
Cassandra sipped her drink, her gaze sweeping across the bar.
It was daytime outside—a glaringly sunny afternoon. Due to the time difference, when she crossed over into this world, it had been midday.
She didn't immediately flaunt her powers or attempt to dominate the world. Instead, she spent her time gathering information.
She learned that this country was called the Sunset Empire, and the world was vastly different from the one she knew.
Here, there were individuals like Iron Man, organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D. and Umbrella Corporation, as well as something called the Mutant Registration Act.
Most intriguing of all, in this world, it seemed that her twin brother—who had killed her in the womb—was alive. Her existence, however, had been erased entirely, replaced by someone named Charles Francis Xavier, also known as Professor X.
"My dear brother, I didn't expect this world to be one where you survived."
Smiling faintly, she drained her glass and left the bar.
As she passed the entrance, she caught a glimpse of her reflection in a mirror—a striking, bald woman in her thirties or forties.
She touched her head, satisfied with her appearance.
Before arriving in this world, she had been on the verge of dominating her original planet. Using her telepathy, mind control, and immense psychic powers, she had become the first Omega-level mutant.
But a single mistake had nearly cost her life when a certain loudmouthed mercenary almost killed her.
In desperation, she shattered the Space Stone. Combined with the Quantum Realm's energy, she opened a portal to another world and escaped here.
...
Not long after she left the bar, golden energy circles appeared before her, and multiple portals opened.
"More of these sorcerers? How tedious."
Cassandra sighed in disdain, raising her hand toward the figures emerging from the portals.
*Whoosh!*
With a mere gesture, a man in a yellow sorcerer's robe was instantly stripped of all his flesh, collapsing to the ground without a sound.
The other sorcerers, including Kaecilius, recoiled in fear, hastily erecting magical barriers.
"She's a monster!"
"She's killing people!"
"A mutant is attacking!"
Nearby pedestrians fled in panic as Cassandra's actions unfolded before their eyes.
The sorcerers, lacking mastery of the Mirror Dimension, were unable to hide the battle.
"She's an evil enemy! Attack together!" Kaecilius shouted, summoning magical weapons.
The others followed suit, conjuring mystical blades and staves before charging forward.
Cassandra shook her head, exasperated.
"No matter the world, sorcerers always think they're warriors."
With effortless movements, she twisted the bodies of the attacking sorcerers into grotesque shapes, killing them instantly.
To her, they were no more than insects.
Terrified by the deaths of his comrades, Kaecilius opened a portal in desperation and fled.
"I don't want to die! I still have vengeance to seek!" he cried as he vanished.
